About this property

The Historical Ripley House

Welcome to the historical Ripley House. Built in 1883 this gorgeous home was renovated in 2018. A beautiful balance of historical and modern charm, this home is a fantastic place for friends and multiple family generations to gather and a perfect location for holidays.

The layout of the home is a perfect mesh of private space and togetherness. The main floor consists of an elegant dining and living area, a separate lounge with a desk, futon, and comfortable seating, one and a half baths, laundry, and a stunning kitchen with double ovens, island seating, butler pantry, and breakfast/sitting nook.
From the first floor you can ascend the grand staircase to the second floor (or take the old "Servant's stairwell" back stairwell). Here you will find four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There are 3 extra sleeping additions up here if needed (Two couches/futons and a fold out single bed) Two of the bedrooms also have a small work space.
This two story home doesn't end there. In the basement you will find an entertainment room, additional bedroom and additional sleeping, as well as a sauna, pool room, and standing area with wine fridge.

Located in the quiet lakeside town of Montague, MI just a short peaceful walk from the downtown area. There is plenty to do and see in and around the area and just a short 5 minute drive from a beautiful public Lake Michigan beach.

Don't know where to begin? Just ask us! All guests are sent a planning email upon booking of things to do, see, and eat in the area but we are always available to answer any questions or help with recommendations.

We look forward to hosting you!

Who can sleep on these planks of wood and call them beds?

As the title said, yeah, the beds were too firm for friends and I. But overall pretty nice place. Would stay again 9/10

Family Thanksgiving

We loved our stay at the Ripley House. Beautiful property, well stocked home for all our needs. Hosted our family Thanksgiving in the house, and it was perfect - especially the table for 16! Thank you so much. Would love to stay again in the future.

Beautiful home!

Our family had a great stay at the Ripley House! The home is beautiful and has been maintained in period style. Kids played hide-and-seek daily in this huge home. We had everything we needed to cook for our family as well. Rochelle (property manager) was able to help us with all of our needs.

Excellent service

The house was amazing Ann’s exciting. Except for small issues I will recommend this property to my friends and family in Montague. I am a clean freak so finding dirty vents, cobwebs, broken blinds on the entry door and the runner on the stairs bring loose. It was perfect for our needs.

Ripley House

Great historic house. It was perfect for our large family gathering. Kids enjoyed playing hide and seek in the many rooms and closets. Very modern kitchen with top-of-the-line refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher. Very large dining table with additional seating at the counter in the kitchen and side sunroom. Large living room with plenty of seating. Downstairs is the TV room with a very large TV. Separate room with professional pool table. Also, a built-in sauna room. Upstairs there is a master ensuite King bedroom and two queen rooms. Most of the bedroom furniture reflects the age of the house. Overall, the perfect house for a large gathering. Plenty of parking for 4-5 vehicles. Within walking distance to downtown and the restaurants and bars. Only a 10-minute drive to very nice Lake Michigan beaches. Highly recommend this facility.
