About this property

Note: This building is currently undergoing renovation work, so sometimes it's noisy (weekdays, 8-5 only - the hours that most guests are out enjoying the island). The work will not be constant, depends on weather and what part of the building they're doing. Also, depending on where the work is taking place, you may not be affected at all. If you choose to make reservations and find the noise not to be acceptable, please contact me before your departure and a full refund will be issued for the number of nights that you departed before your scheduled checkout date.

Oahu is called the 'Gathering Place' and is home of Waikiki, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. The windward side retains the subtle feeling of old Hawaii, a Hawaii before the multi-story hotels and condos of Waikiki and the urban traffic, hustle and bustle of Honolulu. It still has that wonderful sense of 'Aloha' that you are welcomed as a friend.

Pat's at Punalu'u is about 30 miles from Waikiki and the Honolulu International Airport. The condo sits on a private, reef-protected beach, which is great for kids. The water is about waist to chest deep along the beach and is excellent for snorkeling. There is also a fresh water swimming pool, and outdoor shower.

You are 45-minutes from the nightlife of Waikiki or snorkeling at Hunauma Bay.

Our one-bedroom "end unit" with a huge wrap-around lanai can accommodate up to five guests. It has a full-size kitchen and a washer and dryer...though you will probably be "living" in T-shirts, shorts and swimsuits. The condo has ceiling fans, smart TV, cable TV, books to read - including guidebooks to Hawaii. We provide beach chairs, towels, a beach umbrella, ice chest and other items for your trips to the beach. All you need is your sunscreen and swimsuits.

Great Stay

Property was under renovation. This was made clear before renting. Did not bother us at all. The location, view, and cool vibe of area made up for it and we had a relaxing, wonderful time. Owner was very helpful and friendly. Gave us tips on area and places to eat. We took advantage of local eateries and well-known local places like Tamura’s grocery, Kaya’s Market across the street, Ling’s Drugs, Foodland, and Papa Ole’s. Our third stay at Pat’s and we will be back. Wonderful wrap around patio has great views of water and mountains. Hiked nearby Hau’ula loop trail. Great. We will be back!

Hidden beauty

When arriving at the property, we were skeptical. Construction and some aspects of the street-side view of the building were unappealing. But the inside is lovely and you just can't beat the view of the wrap around lanai. Then you go to the beach and forget all about any other underwhelming feature. The beach is beautiful and mellow, perfect for swimming. Turtles made a regular appearance. Also, this location is PERFECT for avoiding the millions of island tourists. The local food is fantastic-try the taro hut for great burger, hauula barbecue for some Korean and local grindz, and Crouching Tiger for upscale experience. They're all within a 20 minute drive. lanai

Amazing views

This condo is clean, comfortable and has amazing views. We were debating between Wikiki and here. We made the right choice. The condo in on the beach and close to lots of other great beaches. The views are incredible.

Great Location!

Great location! You’re not close to the tons of traffic of Waikiki and easy 30 min to Shark’s Cove and North Shore Beaches! Lots of close great food trucks, Polynesian Cultural Center, and Gunstock Ranch for riding. Having the beach right at your door step and listening to the waves crash with the wonderful breeze was incredible! We also saw lots of turtles just 20 yards or less off the beach!!

It was perfect for us.

Condo was great and just what we were looking for; clean, close to the beach, and close to where our family was staying. I had to contact the property manager a couple of times for questions and she answered right away and had solutions. Also, loved that there was beach gear that we could use-towels, snorkeling stuff, chairs, cooler, etc. Thanks for a great stay, we are already talking about ways to get back there soon.

Great value, great location

The property host was so responsive to any questions or needs that we had from the time we made our reservation and all throughout our stay. It is an older building, however the unit is updated, the grounds (pool, lawns, picnic tables) are wonderful, and it is right on the beach! Great value! The location was perfect, easy and quick access to North shore beaches, PCC, Kaneohe and so much more laid back than Honolulu. The airport was a 45 minute drive. Grocery store in Laie nearby where we got groceries and enjoyed making some meals at home (and saving some money by doing so) We would definitely stay here again when we visit Oahu!

This was our second year staying at this condo. We’ve enjoyed both visits. We loved the proximity to Laie since our daughter was a student at BYU Hawaii, graduating this year. The view from the condo is beautiful. We didn’t mind the short drives to other parts of the island. We prefer the quiet and “chill” atmosphere of the North Shore much more than the busy and crowded city of Honolulu. I’m sure we’ll be back again.

A view to love

Love the spaciousness of the unit and that it was a corner with the wrap around lanai. The view did it for me. The unit is very well equipped. We stayed during thanksgiving so there was no construction going on but today when we left we heard it so it something to be aware of during a normal working week. Kathy was very responsive and we’d love to be back!

Beautiful windows, views, helpful host!

The balcony was AMAZING and so delightful to have a breeze coming through if we wanted to sleep with the doors open. The unit is on the beach with assigned parking, and easy access with the elevator. Nice end unit so no one is coming by your window. Best of all? The bed!! Nothing ruins a vacation like a poor night's sleep and the bed was SO COMFY. The shower was great, too, and having laundry in the unit was helpful. Will definitely be looking to stay again. Kathy was a great host and we had help anytime we needed it.

Such a gem- You've got to check it out!

This place is perfect! We absolutely loved staying here. Kathy and her team are professional and friendly. They made everything so easy for us. The condo has everything you could possibly need, is comfortable and brightly decorated with a fun local feel. We loved how the lanai wrapped around half of the condo, giving us amazing views of the ocean, especially the sunrises. The location is secluded yet within close driving distances of must-see sites. The beach was perfect for our family because it was right there in the backyard and we didn't have to worry about our child playing in big waves. This rental is a real gem and if you're thinking about staying on this side of Oahu, you should seriously consider this one!

Happy and Satisfied

Unit was very clean, well taken care of, and had everything we needed for a week-stay. I have been at Pat's for the last few years so when Kathy warned me of the construction noise, I responded that I knew about the building's on-going repair and okay with it; however, I did not expect the jack-hammering which was louder than expected. Still, I had a great time and will come back again for sure. This building's location is kinda out of the way from the maddening crowd of Waikiki but close enough which makes it so desirable for us.

Noisey

The condo was an older unit. Road noise disrupted sleep each night. In addition the walls were thin. We heard the people next door easily through the walls and vents. Unit was okay for furnishings, but were older and not comfortable. The condo has not A/C and was damp and musty when we arrived. It stayed musty for the entire week we were there mainly because there was not a good venatilation system in the bathroom.

nice quiet beach shady propety

I knew it was an older complex going into it, but I am not sure I was prepared for the overall feel of the property and location. all over the sides of the roads were abanded cars, homeless tents, no real food options close by. There was a terrible raw sewage small in front of the building and parking lot. the guard said it should hopefully be fixed soon, but it was so bad smelling. Like most Hawaiian properties no air conditioning, there were a few fans which was nice. we had to open our bedroom window to sleep but only part of the window would open it was very rusty. Then when open the road noise was incredible, sirens, trucks all night long. We did enjoy being able to use the kitchen and a few beach accessories. the boogie board was nice. all snorkels were broken, but we bought a new one. The snorkeling out front was actually really great t here was a nice reef and lots of fish. no real waves, but we enjoyed going to pounders up the road. It was very windy and frequent rainshowers everyday. we ended up driving to the other side of the island almost everyday to play and find the sun. Everything takes so long driving, so that is why we would not stay on this side of the island again.

Good location

This is a old property with a good location, right on the beach. There is noisy construction going on. The host is very helpful. I was unable to open the door due to a rusted keypad, and she fixed it right away. The unit needs several repairs, including clogged drains, non-working remotes, non-working sliding door. But you can swim with turtles and do some fish watching, so good overall.

great place to relax

The condo was clean and had everything we needed. Kathy is great to work with and is wonderful to work with. She informed me there would be some remodeling construction going on and offered to relocate us to a different condo if needed. We chose to stay here and we have no regrets. The beach was right outside and it was beautiful. The pool was great and the construction didn't bother us at all. It was about an hour drive to our excursions but that wasn't a problem. We enjoyed the drive and seeing the coast road and the mountain road. We found some nice food trucks and a great shave ice place close by. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful View

The view is amazing. You can watch the sunrise everyday. There was turtles on the beach, very few people on the beach. The condo was clean. The owners were very nice. I would stay again.

Family Vacation

Very pleasant stay. Great, corner balcony, views of beach/ocean through 2 walls. Secluded entry, quiet surroundings. We enjoyed the amenities and the great attributes of this condo. Only request to owner/management, please replace the sliding door screens, so the doors can be opened at night, for cool breezes, without allowing bugs in. Only words of caution, if you are a light sleeper, plan to sleep on sofa-bed as the road noise in the bedroom lasts all night. All that said, we look forward to being able to stay again.

Not what we expected

The photos were misleading, the unit definitely needs updating! The street noise was extremely loud from the bedroom! Pillows were totally flat, needs to be replaced. Hole in bathroom wall was duct taped closed. The window in living room was missing a glass louver, allowing cold air in. The sliders were extremely hard to open, one slider took both of us to open & close. The key was not in lock box, delaying us entry to property. Overall great view & fully stocked with all amenities needed for a beach stay.

Yearly Getaway

We have been staying at Pat’s for 6 consecutive years now and we thoroughly enjoy it! We go there to relax and love the remoteness and the beautiful beach! We enjoy the corner unit views. Kathy makes things very easy.
