My husband and I stayed in the Red House for a long weekend. The communication leading up to and throughout our stay was exceptional. The home was warm and inviting with all the amenities you could ask for. We enjoyed exploring the area as well as relaxing by the fire with a movie. We will definitely be returning!
We spent a relaxing week at the Red House, and really felt at home. Comfortable furniture, cool layout, well stocked kitchen materials, spectacular surroundings, isolated feeling even though there were houses fairly nearby. Ab was great about answering questions in a clear and timely fashion. Hope to stay there again in the near future.
A really wonderful property. The set up of the main room is great. The indoor and outdoor space is well designed for both comfort and to appreciate the amazing views. I found this place to be even more beautiful than it was in the pictures. The host was very attentive and provided good information for us to have and responded quickly with any questions I had.
My sister and I plan an annual uphill ski weekend every year. We chose the Red House for its proximity to Mt. Ascutney. It is .2 miles from the Brownville Trail and less than 2 miles from Mt. Ascutney. The house is absolutely stunning with beautiful views of the mountains. A Jotul gas stove makes it warm and cozy and it was perfect for our outdoor adventures. Ab was wonderful and accommodating. We brought our dog and he LOVED it because there is so much land around the house we could just open the door and let him hang out on the porch. I would love to go back in the summer.
A great vacation home in an ideal location! We had a wonderful week exploring Vermont - exactly what was needed to recharge our batteries. Highly recommended and massive thanks to Ab for his engagement and flexibility.
The cabin is beautiful. It’s not in my favorite location, but the property is great.
Ab and his team are fantastic. Great support and very customer focused. Would absolutely recommend.
We just returned from a four-day stay at the Red House and had a truly wonderful time with our adult children and other family members (staying nearby in Brownsville). The house is charming and comfortable with many unique touches, described repeatedly by our kids as “awesome”. What a lovely place to celebrate the holiday! Thank you!
Our stay at the Red Barn was more than we expected. The location was stupendous with awesome views of the mountains and countryside at every angle. The house is very clean with all the nice amenities you would want. The owner did everything to make our stay pleasant.
We would definitely want to return.
Stayed at the property with my husband and 2 dogs for 3 nights. We’re big hikers and found lots of nearby trail options, including a drive to the top of Mt. Ascutney for some trails up there (this is a must-do as a short 1.5 mile round trip to the observation tower will reward you with amazing, panoramic views!). We ate at the Maple Kitchen and Windsor Station. Both were good. Grabbed a steak at the Brownsville Butcher and deli and cooked on the grill the other night. Headed into Woodstock one day, which is about a 25-minute drive. The Bear Trail Subs and Sandwiches had a great breakfast sandwich, as did Boston Dreams (and fantastic coffee, too). The property was great for our needs. It’s private and nestled in, so we could let our dogs explore without worry. We enjoyed the fire pit and back deck for lounging in the afternoon sun. Overall, a wonderful stay. Thanks to Ab for making the booking process easy and our stay without issue.
Excellent property located perfectly for our weekend of hiking and biking. Sitting on the porch in the morning and at night was perfection. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Ab!
My daughter and friends are all going away to college so I wanted to have one night for them to get together. Take some pictures. Have some fun and just enjoy each other.
We enjoyed our stay. The property was as described. Neat and clean. Did have a small issue with the hot water
But was fixed quickly. Would highly

Our party of two with a lovely rescue dog LOVED our experience and the large porches that surround this adorable location. We used this location for some fun day trips to explore the surroundings and found it all so comfortable, quite and peaceful. We loved hearing the sheep BAHHHH next door from the pasture---and the views were all so pretty from inside and out. Great firepit--comfy couches, cute little hill perch and the ability to purchase great fresh meat, vegetables and fruit from Brownsville Butcher and Pantry, was perfect. Cooking, reading, and enjoying some down time was wonderful. Our favorite nearby town to explore was Woodstock--do not miss it!
Just a reminder the bed is a queen size bed, so if you are used to a King bed, it will take a minute--so please read the descriptions well. Loved the feedback from the owner when we made a few personal suggestions to enhance the location that he already made-- great response! Definitely book this adorable place and enjoy the peace and serenity.
We connected with Ab last minute and were thrilled that the property was just as beautiful as described. We both needed a peaceful, relaxing and scenic spot to spend a week with our dog. The home was spotless and had everything we needed to make for a wonderful week. Spend great deal of time enjoying the view from the Adirondack chairs! Think we would love it in the fall too!
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect being close to a small town, but still far enough in the woods to have peace and quiet.
Ab is a wonderful and responsive host. The house is great, unique and those views! We loved the central location to different ski resorts and Ascutney 2 min away…while not a full ski resort has its place (and price) to squeeze in a few runs. Kids got some sled riding in the back of the house. We’ll be back!
Owner was very responsive and communicative. House was clean and welcoming. Enjoyed the fireplace and well equipped kitchen, would definitely stay again.
What a great place! Conveniently located to multiple skiing options. Very clean and well appointed home. Outstanding communication from the host. We very much enjoyed our stay!

About the host
Your host
We are a family of three in the Boston area who love to go out and do things, and have been coming to Vermont for many years.
Why they chose this property
After many years of coming to Vermont, we chanced upon a house and a place we felt we would love to go back to time and time again. We were taken in by the scenery, lovely indoors and proximity to the ski slopes and the Upper Valley. We then wanted to share it with others. The Vermont Red House came into being!
What makes this property unique
The space is custom built for ease and comfort. The living room/kitchen with soaring ceilings lets you enjoy the outdoors from your perch. A fully appointed kitchen with top of the line applicances and spice rack makes meals fun and easy. The upper master suite is spacious, and the second bedroom downstairs has two bunk beds. The jotul fireplace creates a cozy space for relaxing and conversation. The wrap around deck and firepit offer plenty of opportunities to unwind and take the surroundings in. There is a 400mbps fast wifi-6 network in place, for the times you need to connect back with the world. There are also flat screen smart TVs in each bedroom for your entertainment. For snow lovers, there are a pair of snowshoes, a fancy LLBean snowtube, and a kids pull sled available to enjoy the surroundings and the Ascutney backcountry.
