About this property

Private Guest home in beautiful mountains of ABQ

Bright & cozy private guesthouse in the beautiful wooded mountains of Tijeras, NM - just a 15 minute drive to Albuquerque (1.2 miles from historic Route 66 or a quick 2 miles to I-40 to get almost anywhere in the city within minutes). This 800 sqft one bedroom is a stones throw from the main house & has dedicated Wifi internet service, a large living area with a full kitchen, a large back patio with brand new deck area for outdoor dining or year round star gazing, and a large fenced backyard.

The space
** This home is a guest house sitting on 5 acres of property next to the main home and horse barn.

Home Features:
• A real queen mattress now (comfortable)
• Over 800 square feet of living area.
• Home sits at an elevation of 7000 feet.
• Windows throughout for beautiful bright natural sunlight.
• Large fenced backyard and doggie door for all your pets (at own risk, there can be hawks, coyotes, mountain lions, bobcats, and venomous snakes).
• less than a mile down the road from protected National Forest space for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding.
• Wood Burning stove (pellet stove) for those cozy mountain nights at home.
• Stove and water heater use propane gas, otherwise only heat is pellet stove or electric heater use.
• Washer & Dryer hook-ups in Laundry area but no units currently in place.
• Enjoy the horse stable with a mini-horse (“Juliette”), 3 mini-goats, and 5 chickens (wear closed toed shoes because the goats will step on you and it can injure your feet/toes). Even though these animals have always been docile and sweet with us, they are animals and can be unpredictable with other peoples energy/vibes and may “spook” so enter their space at your own risk.

** We have a 4 stall BarnMaster barn with a fenced turnout area that can accommodate guests with horses (if the horses can be okay with 5 friendly chickens, 3 mini-goats, and a very sweet mini-horse). Just bring your own hay and muck your own poo. Arrange in advance if possible so that we can prep the stalls.

** Extended stays can be negotiated with a generous long-term rental discount, just ask!

Guest access
Guests can visit any area of the 5 acre property just please respect our privacy (our own home) and our children. We're friendly but we enjoy our downtime/quiet time too.
Other things to note
**If you need addition sleeping, we can set up a queen AeroBed from Costco but it has a very slow leak so deflates a bit by morning (that is why we don’t charge additional or list space to accommodate more than 2 since this option isn’t an ideal sleeping arrangement).

If you have pets, particularly dogs that may like to chase chickens, please keep them inside guesthouse or guesthouse yard so that they don't terrorize the barn animals or dig under their fenced area into the barnyard.

** Pet Policy
Except in fenced backyard of guesthouse (and as long as they cannot jump the fence),, pets must remain on leash outside of guest house if they are aggressive with people/children or other pets (we have small dogs and a cat that roam freely on the property). Please do not leave pets in the guest house alone unless crated in a pet crate. We have a medium/small metal crate that you can borrow if needed.

Refundable Pet Deposit $200
Pet deposit will not be refunded if there is a substantial amount of dirty pet foot prints or pet hair all over (on furniture, linens, floors, towels, blankets, etc.), urine stains, smell of urine, poop in yard or inside, etc. If any furniture or housewares are chewed on guest will be required to pay for repair or equal replacement of item in addition to non-refunded Pet Deposit amount.
