Absolut wunderbar!

Great hide

This is a gem for all who search for a hide near of Florenz. The owner, Andrea, is ery nice and extremely helpful. He took us from the airport and tok us back to the airport, too. So we could rent a small car for the time being there since we did not need to care about the transport of the baggage. The large condo is fitted with everyrthing and with lots of paintings. Florence and Fiesole are close and easily to arrive but you need a car for going from the "fattoria" to Caldine where you can reach Florence by train within 15 minutes. The last 500 meters is a small graval road so don't ret a sports car, but our Mini made the wa.y. Caldine spots a good supermarket and a "Pizzeria" with really good pizze. The pool is great and really large and meticiously serviced. The depth of the water is 1,20 meters, it is great for children (and adults) up from 6 years. Some mosquitos, but they are existing in midtown Florence in July as well. If you look for a calm place with all amenites and a great pool and close to Firenze, you are right here!

Beautiful property - well equipped and tastefully furnished.

Beautiful surroundings with very nice swimming pool. Owners/hosts are delightful and the local wildlife (neighbourhood dog, deer and rabbit!) very friendly. The photographs don't do it justice and there are 2 other apartments on the property that would facilitate a larger group. Highly recommended.

Lovely

We stayed for 6 days in June of 2016. The home is beautifully maintained and very private. Andrea is a wonderful host. Driving to Florence takes about 20 minutes and the train is only 12 minutes. Highly recommended! A wonderful experience that I would hope to repeat soon.

Bucolic Beauty

My wife, 20 year old daughter and I had the opportunity to spend 5 days here in September and didn't regret it for a minute. It's a great way to establish a home hub for Firenze and the surrounding Tuscan areas/towns. You will need a car to get to the farmhouse but can avail yourself of the local rail system to quickly access downtown Florence. The hilly dirt road leading to the farmhouse is part of the "experience" but the only detractor overall. Accommodations are basic but comfortable and clean and the countryside quietude is part of the attraction. Andrea was an excellent and gracious host, very communicative and attentive to our needs. We wouldn't hesitate go return if the opportunity arises.

Amazing

I have a new rule for traveling after staying here - always stay in the countryside. Andrea's place is bliss - beautiful scenery, immaculately clean accommodation which was also incredibly comfortable and tasteful, but above all Andrea was an excellent host - always there when we needed help - couldn't speak higher of the whole experience

nice property with some difficulties

My husband and I stayed here at the end of April with another couple. The unit (which is attached to the owner's home) is spacious and lots of space for 2 couple (with 2 full bathrooms and 2 full bedrooms plus another small room where someone could sleep). It is up a steep hill from the town of Caldine where the train station is. It is peaceful and beautiful and not too far from Florence, although the train runs only once an hour and stops around 8:30 in the evening. While we liked the place a great deal our trip was marred by a theft that occurred during our first night. Somebody entered the unit in the middle of the night (it's unclear if the front door was locked), came upstairs, and took jewelry and cash from our friends' room while they were in the room sleeping. Needless to say, we were very disturbed by this event. The landlord later revealed that he has an alarm on his house.

Outstanding Experience

We are 2 senior couples who stayed at Fattoria il Lecce 9 nights, and could have stayed another week. The "farmhouse" is charming, (in fact, the photos do not do it justice), well appointed in terms of everything you need to be comfortable, and well located in regard to Florence. It also has a wonderful patio where we spent many an evening sipping wonderful Tuscan wines and enjoying the quiet surroundings. The highlight, however, was getting to know the lovely owner, Andrea, who checked in with us each day to provide any information we needed, and then invited us into his studio, where he played a beautiful Schubert piece on his concert grand piano. It was an experience we will never forget! We also were so impressed with his son Lorenzo, and loved witnessing the interchange between them. Side trips, easy 60 to 90 minute drives from the villa, included the quaint village of Gaiole in Chianti and the city of Lucca, a charming walled city, still barely touched by tourism. All in all, we cannot say enough about our stay at il Lecce and would recommend it without hesitation.

The Trip of a Lifetime

We spent 6 weeks in Italy this summer and the stay in Fiesole was week #3. Our son and his girlfriend met us at the "farmhouse". It is charming, very large rooms, loved it! I grew up on a farm and the sights and morning sounds reminded me of my childhood. This is a working farm for Andre's son, who is absolutely delightful. He is a young man that will make changes in our world and environment. Be prepared for a steep drive up the mountain to reach the property! Our best meal in all of Italy was at Mario's just down the road.

Our lovely home on the olive grove

Our family of 5 (children aged 12, 8 and 5) had a wonderful stay at this beautiful farm house. The apartment was very large and thoughtfully fitted out with quality furnishings and appliances. It was very comfortable and we wished we could stay longer than just five nights. It is so quiet, all you hear is insects and birds. The heated salt water pool was very popular after a busy day sightseeing. We visited Sienna one day and Pisa and Luca another day from here. It is a short train ride into Florence. It felt like we were living like locals rather than tourists. It was a pleasure to come home at the end of each day touring and really relax in the country side. There were two cats that visited each night much to the delight of our daughters. Our son who plays the piano was able to have a couple of practice sessions in Andrea's studio and we enjoyed hearing a recital from Andrea who is a professor of classical music - a real treat! Andrea was a warm host, providing a bottle of their olive oil, a bottle of wine and since we forgot to get Parmesan cheese on our stop at the local grocery store on the way, he kindly provided that too. The road to get there is a bit of a challenge the first time but Andrea's instructions were good to follow. You definitely need a car to get up the hill, but get the smallest car you can as the streets in fiesole and around Florence are sometimes so narrow as first time drivers from Australia. By the end of our tour of Italy we were much more confident drivers. We would recommend this property to family and friends and would love to comeback one day, in a smaller car! This was one of the best places we have stayed and was a real highlight if our trip for everyone in our family.

Casual elegance in a wonderful setting

Our family of five had the most wonderful time in Fiesole. The owners were delightful hosts to us. They provided basic provisions upon our arrival. The owner, upon noticing that there was no cheese in the refrigerator for our pasta, went to his house to bring some parmigiano. The grounds were lovely, and perfect for strolling through the olive grove. Our granddaughter enjoyed the large pool. Later, the owner regalled us with a concert in his studio. The location was a little hard to find, but once found, convenient to get into and out of Florence.

Memorable stay in Tuscany!

This suite felt more like a whole house rather than the end of the main villa which occupies a space in the middle of a vast, picturesque olive orchard. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating, especially when we had a flat tire on our way from the airport and could not find help from anyone on the busy Friday afternoon. Signor Passigli was on the phone with us throughout the whole crisis until we arrived at the door of our rental suite late at night, well after the earlier time of day when we were supposed to arrive. The house was very well appointed and comfortable, and every morning the sun would stream through the window of our second-storey bedroom, beckoning us out for the day's activities. The views from the front door are breath-taking, verdant hills dotted with olive orchards occasionally accented by the tall cypress trees so typical of the Tuscan landscape. If you are lucky enough to persuade Lorenzo, Signor Passigli's son and co-host of the rental property, to take you on a hike through those orchards and along the hillside trails, your stay will be complete! I would recommend this beautiful house with all its charm - and charming people - to anyone looking for a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing stay in the hills near Florence.

A Home Away From Home!

When I was searching for a place to stay in Tuscany, I narrowed my search to this place and one other. I selected this villa because of the rave reviews. Even the reviews do not do this magical place justice! Like every great teacher I have ever known, Andrea is patient and kind and has a wonderful sense of humor. When we arrived, we got HOPELESSLY lost trying to find it - even with a GPS. Andrea sent his daughter and her friend to "rescue" us. When we arrived, we were delighted to find some staples at the villa so that we did not have to go to the grocery store right away. The countryside retreat was SO comfortable and was the PERFECT place to relax after hitting the pavement all day. Andrea provided directions to different sites and suggested restaurants, as well. The salt water swimming pool remained refreshing in spite of the record breaking heat! My two daughters loved the pet cats, too. I hope to return here one day. It was absolutely wonderful!

The Highlight of Our Trip

I don't know if I can find enough good things to say about this property and about our host, Andrea. To say that the property is beautiful is not enough. It is warm, comfortable, and located in a stunning setting on an organic olive farm. Andrea is a delightful host, warm and friendly, with a fascinating background, and always helpful. You must have a car, and be willing to tackle the narrow, steep and rough road to the house. Once you arrive, however, your efforts are more than amply rewarded. We were fortunate to be there at the start of the olive harvest, and Andrea was more than happy to show us the process and explain how the olive get to the press. (Unfortunately, we missed the press by one day.) I am happy to second all the comments in the other reviews. When (not if!) I go back to Italy, I will definitely schedule another stay with Andrea.

A beautiful country stay, only minutes from the heart of Florence

We toured Italy for a month, and without a doubt, our stay at this property was a highlight of our trip. Don't be perturbed by the title of "music professor", as Andrea was the the most unassuming, hospitable, friendly and helpful host you could wish for. A fluent english speaker, he was always available to provide tips and advice on days trips, etc. The apartment, which is actually a part of the main farmhouse, was very spacious, even for our family of 5. It has been recently totally renovated with modern appliances and quality fittings, and is decorated and furnished in authentic Tuscan villa style. Staying here was an absolute joy, and my family suggested scrapping our itinerary and staying here for the rest of our holiday. The only drawback is that despite being only a kilometer from the train station, the road to the property is fairly steep, so having a car almost a necessity. We always found car parking (free) at the train station to be plentiful, with trains to Florence departing hourly and taking about 15 minutes. (Andrea kindly provided us with a timetable). Day trips to Pisa, Sienna, etc. were also easily made by train. The wi-fi internet was trouble free.

Charming Italian Farmhouse

This property is everything as advertised and more. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and live right on the property. The directions provided by the owner were accurate and easy to follow. The property was very clean and comfortable. The location is even better than advertised as there is a train station 5 minutes from the house that you can use to easily access Florence in less than 30 minutes. The owners directed us to several good restaurants in the area. We would definitely stay at this property again if traveling to the area. A car is required, and for those planning on driving around Tuscany, we would recommend using GPS because the roads in and around Florence can be a bit confusing. Be prepared to drive on narrow hilly roads.

A Wonderful Retreat!

We stayed here with another couple in June of 2011 and absolutley loved it! The private apartment occupies two stories in a beautiful old country house which has been tastefully refurbished. It's in a lovely setting perched high in the hills above Florence, surrounded by olive orchards. Andrea and his family were most welcoming - very friendly, kind and helpful with every detail of our stay. Andrea was able to recommend several wonderful restaurants in nearby Caldine and Fiesole and he showed us the station at the bottom of the hill where we could catch a regularly scheduled train which put us into the heart of Florence in about 20 minutes. The property with its quiet surroundings and large swimming pool was a wonderful retreat after a day spent in the heat and hustle of the city. We dined al fresco every evening. The kitchen and living area are spacious and comfortable and well equipped. All in all, it was a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday. We definitely hope to return!

Wonderful! we all raved about our stay

After a long trip from the airport, after having lost a knapsack with a camara in it, we were concerned about finding our accomodation at 11 at night. Andrea came to meet us at a gas station - thank goodness! we are not sure we would have found it on our own. The complimentary wine, AMAZING olive oil, the gift of parmesan cheese when we decided to cook up some pasta was delightful. Andrea lent us a camara, gave us hints of where to go, how to get there. The highlight had to be when he invited us into his studio - wow. We would love to go back, here's hoping!

Highly Recommend!!

We stayed here in early October (2010) and were completely satisfied with the apartment and location. We had the advantage of seeing Florence daily while avoiding the conjestion of staying there. Only 15-20 minutes by bus, train or car, Caldine is an ideal location if relaxation is part of your vacation objective. The owners are delightful people and always available for information and assistance, if needed. The pictures do not do the apartment justice; it is ample and new with all the modern amentities of wireless and cable in addition to the charming fireplace and alfresco patio. Everything you might need is here. We sincerely regret not getting to know the town of Fiesole, but were repeatedly drawn into Florence. We can not wait to return.
