With the luxuries of civilization yet the accessibility and serenity of nature at your doorstep, you will come to appreciate that no roads lead to Coho Cabana.
The Space
Coho Cabana 🏡 is situated in the historic community of Halibut Cove. Once a thriving herring cannery town; today, Halibut Cove caters to adventure enthusiasts, bohemian travelers, artists, commercial fisherman and relaxation seekers. Halibut Cove is a small community of about 200 locals who welcome you to share in the peace and tranquility our home has to offer. Enjoy the convenient proximity to the sea and the thriving ecosystem at your doorstep as native sea otters, bald eagles 🦅, and harbor seals amble by.
At Coho Cabana, you’re only:
0 min 🚶to world class tidepooling 🦀
0 min 🚶to the stunning fishing 🎣 waters of Kachemak Bay
10 min 🚣 to the floating Glacier Point Oyster farm stand 🦪
15 min 🚣♀️ to Ismailof Island, the Saltry restaurant, coffee shop and art galleries
30 min 🚣♀️ to Kachemak Bay State Park and Grewingk Glacier
30 min 🚣♀️ to Right Beach and Climbing Mecca “Kachemak Crack”
Situated on a 4-acre forested waterfront lot, Coho Cabana is a 1200 square foot fully custom built off-grid property. Built by local craftsman with luxury and comfort in mind, there’s something to suit the taste of everyone in Halibut Cove. While staying with us, also enjoy unlimited and free use of our kayaks and paddle board!
LOWER FLOOR:
From the tiered deck, enter into a light-filled sitting room that overlooks Kachemak Bay. Kick off your shoes and enjoy a cup of coffee or a good book as you watch the eagles fly overhead.
Passing down the hallway on your right is our full bathroom with penny round tile flooring, a custom white spruce vanity, compost toilet and spa-shower 🧖♀️. Water is a luxury in Halibut Cove and you’ll appreciate our hot-water spa shower after a long day adventuring in the surrounding area.
Continue down the hallway and you’ll pass our pantry where groceries and staples can be stored. Further down the hallway, you’ll enter our open concept kitchen, dining and living area. Sure, eating out at the finest restaurants can be fun. But sometimes we all need a nice home-cooked meal, right!? Enjoy our full chefs kitchen stacked with the essentials, featuring a gas range, dishwasher, high-end coffee supplies and large farmhouse sink. Our dining area has seating for 4 and features a custom live-edge white spruce and black walnut dining table with local Alaskan art adorning the walls. Enjoy a good book or a board game in our living room snuggling up on our comfy couch facing a Jøtul wood stove! Next to the living room is our office/den which houses a record player, a desk, comfy chair and views for days. Connect to our reliable Wi-Fi ⚡️to zoom in for work, or disconnect from the world – your choice!
UPPER FLOOR:
From the hallway, ascend the stairs to our upper level, where you’ll find a quaint reading nook on your right lofted to overlook the lower level and nature outside. Up the stairs to your left is our rear bedroom with a full/twin bunk and full bed in two separate private alcoves. Get a full night’s sleep with cute black bear Scandinavian Finlayson duvets, 100% cotton percale sheets and Helix memory foam mattresses for maximum comfort. Straight ahead is the main bedroom, featuring local Alaskan art, a Queen bed and views out to Kachemak Bay. We’re not joking when we call this room the Eagle’s Nest! All rooms feature blackout curtains to provide our guests a restful nights sleep.
OUTDOOR PATIO:
In the evenings, unwind on the cabin's private deck, where you can watch the sunset over the bay and enjoy a BBQ dinner cooked on the outdoor grill. And when you're ready to retire for the night, you'll fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the water lapping against the shore.
The biggest draw of our cabin is the incredible outdoor opportunities that await you. The Kachemak Bay State Park is a hiker's paradise, with over 200 miles of trails that wind through this stunning landscape. You can also explore the park by kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard, taking in the breathtaking views of glaciers, mountains, and wildlife. For fishermen, the waters of Halibut Cove are teeming with trophy halibut, salmon, and rockfish, and there are several local charter companies that can take you out on the water for an unforgettable day of fishing.
With a unique combination of adventure and leisure on the edge of the wilderness, there’s no better way to have an authentic Alaskan trip of a lifetime. No matter how you prefer to spend your Alaska vacation, we’re excited to help you create a once-in-a-lifetime journey to the Last Frontier!
