Such a peaceful beautiful property with lots of wildlife and scenery. The cabin is immaculate and stocked with essentials. Will definitely try be back next year!
I want to thank Marc and Lindy for making us feel at home from the very moment we arrived. They greeted us when we arrived and they were so welcoming and made you feel like family. The beauty of the cabin was breath taking, with all the woodwork and craftsmanship. It definitely was the perfect place to unplug and take in nature. Look forward to coming again and stay for longer.
The cabin was beautiful on a gorgeous mountain top. The owners provided everything necessary for our stay, including a fruit basket and two canned drinks in the refrigerator. I would have loved to use the outside fire pit, but the cool and wet weather kept us inside where it was warm and cozy.
This was our second time staying here, we absolutely love the house, the location, quiet, woods, views, path and the hosts. We hope to go back again and again. Wonderful retreat to unplug.
Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! Love the location, completely surrounded by mountains- so quiet and peaceful. Especially loved taking advantage of the firepit and hammock. The cabin itself was beauitful, very clean and comfortable, with lots of little extra special touches, like fresh cut flowers. Definitely hope to come back and spend even longer at this mountainside paradise!!
Beautiful, clean cabin in mountains with lovely views. Nicely appointed kitchen, well planned layout, immaculate throughout.
Gracious hosts that respect privacy of guests.

We loved everything about our stay here so much we added another night!!! Our hosts Marc and Lindy were the best!! Their property is beautiful and so well taken care of,we can't say enough!!! We will most definitely come back for another stay!!!!!
This place was amazing. Adorable, clean and secluded cabin. Don't let the dirt road scare you. Lindy and mark were fantastic So many little touches...a candle, fresh flower on the table when we arrived! The sitting area is not super comfy but we spent most of our time out and about! So much to do near by!! Highly recommend !!!
If you're looking for a quiet place to stay in the Appalachians, you can't do better than this. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort went into the cabin and its amenities, making the property a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. I'm pretty sure the hammock in the yard is my new favorite place on earth. Also - my stay was shortly after the area got hit by Hurricane Helene, and the hosts were extremely kind and accommodating when I had to adjust my schedule as a result. Couldn't recommend this place more!
This cabin stay is second to none, a well equipped, managed, and clean rustic cabin with modern amenities, The owners/ operators were kind and welcoming. My wife and I look forward to a return stay, as the destination for our travel soon.
A short 3 day, 2 nite stay in early September. Leaves were still green, and weather was barely cool. Beauty of nature surrounded us. Restful with no noise of traffic, trains or planes. We were definitely, OFF THE GRID and loved every minute. Hiking Trail well kept. Hosts were were very hospitable.
This was a great cabin to get away from everything and truly relax.
It was wonderful to sit out on the porch and watch the sun rise with coffee, listening to the birds wake up.
Very clean beautiful cottage with spectacular views. The road to get there is a little intimidating but it is so worth the trip!

Wasn't so sure what I would find based on the trail coming in but pleasantly found it to be as expected. Clean and very nice cabin and surroundings. Very nice hosts greeted me to answer any questions.
The cabin is cozy and beautiful. Very private and quiet. With a porch swing, hammock, fire ring and grill you have all you need for a relaxing stay. And with all that you are still close enough to Wytheville with a beautiful downtown if you want to get out for dinner or exploring.
Hosts very kind and helpful.

Wonderful mountain cabin , only issue was the 1.6 miles dirt and gravel road in! If you’re on 2 wheels be careful !
Despite the never ending torrent of rain we were blessed with for our stay, the cabin/location could not be more perfect! You can tell there is a lot of thought in planning the design of the cabin that they built themselves! We loved our short stay here, and will definitely be back!!

About the host
Hosted by Lindy Stewart
Being avid backpackers,we desired to live as deep in the woods as was possible. So we started homesteading this property 23 years ago and love it so much that we thought that, perhaps, others would enjoy it as much as we do. So we built another cottage on the property and look forward sharing the experience.
Why they chose this property
Convenient to the nearby town of Wytheville but totally secluded. To access this property you must, first, find your way up the mountain. If you're the adventurous type and don't mind a drive up a well maintained dirt road , we think you will find it worth the effort. As you start up through a typical Appalachian holler you pass a by a few local residences but as you venture further up the road it turns into more of a National Forest type setting. We are located 1.6 miles off the main road on a private, gated property and situated on a ridge top with incredible views of the nearby mountains.
What makes this property unique
Depending on the time of year, you can enjoy long hikes in the adjoining Jefferson National Forest, forage for wild mushrooms, visit a Paleozoic fossil site just up the trail or explore the Appalachian Trail on the next ridge over. In the spring the rhododendron and mountain laurel are spectacular. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 30 miles away and the tallest mountain in Virginia, Mt Rogers with Grayson Highlands State Park and the famous wild ponies are also close by. You also might like to check out the Virginia Creeper Trail where you can rent a bike and spend the day coasting down an old railroad grade through spectacular scenery. The nearby town of Wytheville is only 8 miles distant and boasts two micro breweries the newly renovated Milwald Theater, several interesting museums and many eclectic eateries.
