Don’t Be Fooled
When booking, I realized that I was not booking a resort like experience. I was hoping for at least a safe, clean space to sleep at while visiting family. I was not overly concerned about the quality of the house since I knew we would not be spending much time there. However, when we pulled into the driveway, the house was in even worse condition than the picture. Nowhere did it mention that it was a duplex and that other people lived at that location. Arriving after dark at 7:30 PM two shirtless men, drinking from full bottles of liquor, came out from the side yard. The carport had used furniture and old pictures piled up and the house next-door had plywood on all of its windows. That was all I needed to see before deciding not to even get out of my car. The property owner met me on site within 10 minutes to take me to another property in a “safer neighborhood”. While the second property she took me to was in a safer neighborhood, it was a one room efficiency with FILTHY conditions. The one queen bed and loveseat would not accommodate my two teenage sons and myself. Needless to say we could not sleep there either. I ended up paying top dollar for a hotel room for the four nights we were in Delray Beach the week of Christmas. Almost all of my money with the exception of about $25 was reimbursed. This house should not even be listed without the mention that it is a duplex and that other people live in it.
