Everything we wanted in a summer rental: Beautiful oceanfront location. Peaceful mornings. Great porch for rocking and reading. …We kayaked from private beach right outside backdoor!!
The house was well equipped with everything you could need. Kitchen was amazing. Great for a gourmet cook. You don’t need to leave the property. House is centrally located for day excursions to Camden or Damariscotta
We had an amazing stay, the views of the water are worth the trip alone! The house is perfectly situated with lots of space and fun like nooks that the kids in the family loved. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook multiple family meals and we really enjoyed having the tv in the kitchen to play music while hanging out. Plenty of bathrooms for our large group and lots of space to spread out and have alone time when people needed it, yet big enough common space to gather as a whole family. We loved have big king sized bed and everyone slept very comfortably. We can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful spot, Sandy beach/little cove for grandchildren to play. Had kayaks delivered which was easy and added a lot.
Close to many of the fun spots: Camden, Rockland, Freeport and Portland.
Kitchen was well appointed
Beautiful home as described,
Everyday was in the 80’s with bright sunshine, the porch and the beach were utilized the most, large hairy paw dining table seats 8 comfortably.
A lot of period antiques and unique pieces. Very private residential location with No noise or road traffic. Certainly a gem, thank you for a wonderful stay.
Property is just as described. A rambling, well-loved family summer home with space for everyone. We spent most of our time on the covered porch with rocking chairs and a view of distant islands, lobster boats, sea birds and seals. We launched kayaks from the private beach and swam every afternoon at high tide. Listening to the ocean waves and sea breeze through open windows at night is my idea of heaven and Seaward delivered!
The house was immaculate, beautifully supplied and organized, lovely linens. The caretaker was so welcoming and kind, responsive and alerted us to some community activities to take part in. Now to the poperty, the pictures don’t do it justice. Nice big kitchen with every thing you can imagine to cook, bake and serve with. Lovely wrap around table with a big table for ocean view meals. Rocking chairs ideal for spending hours just taking it all in. Ocean views from every room in the house. Professionally landscaped, Osprey landing on site, whirling around throughout the day. We woke up to a soft hum of lobster boats every morning, wich we loved! Sailboats through out the day. We had terrible weather, rainy, foggy and cool last week of June, but we still had a fabulous time! Rocks in front to climb and explore, private sand beach to build castles and moats at low tide, catching crabs at high tide. Friendship is a lovely quiet town, with a great corner store/market, great restaurant with excellent lobster rolls, seafood and other options. We encountered friendly neighbors on our walks. The town is small but ocean/Harbour views at every turn. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to explore more coastal towns, and saw so many in just a half day. That was the only time we explored, we all just wanted to be at Seaward. We are a family of 6, kids ages 9-19 and everyone just wanted to stay in/on the property. We are so thankful to Heather for opening Seaward to us! We’ll be back!
Site exceptionnel, les enfants ont passé leur journée la plage privée . La vue est magnifique, les bateaux de pêcheurs le matin ont rendu notre séjour des plus pittoresques :)

About the host
Hosted by Heather Mackie
I am a 6th generation owner of a beautiful estate situated at the end of the Martin Point peninsula located in Friendship Maine. The house was built by my ancestors and is rich in history and love. Every generation has taken great care of Seaward, and has added to its value and beauty. I’m honored to have the privilege to carry Seaward forward to the next generation and to have an opportunity to share this magical place with other families in the meantime.
Why they chose this property
The property is magnificent. As you drive up the driveway the ocean view is vast and sweeping right in front of you. The lawn is prime for lawn games, and many a croquet tournament has been played there! The soft sandy beach is so unique to Maine and was brought in by horse and buggy 125 years ago. The sandy beach has remarkably remained in tact despite over a century of storms and tides. It’s great for swimming, launching kayaks, making sand castles, sun bathing, or exploring at low tide.
What makes this property unique
Seaward has been a place where many memories are made and traditions are started. There is loads of opportunity for fun, family, friends, sharing, caring, learning, growing, resting, relaxing (and even working if you need to get in some remote working time during your vacation). There is a dedicated office and also a hideaway TV / reading room with a beautiful view and comfy chairs. There is so much outdoor space, whether it be on the lawn or on any one of the many decks. You can enjoy meals together outside or there’s plenty of room at the sprawling dining room table for your entire group.
