I traveled with three friends from graduate school for a reunion here at Cape Cod. This cozy cottage was great for the four of us. It’s nicely appointed, clean, has a small but efficient kitchen, comfortable beds, it’s a short walk to the beach, and a short drive to the National Seashore. Great AC, water pressure, and drains, and a beautifully landscaped backyard that was perfect for a second cup of coffee in the morning, reading in the afternoon, or dinner. Mary was a good communicator (and I’d been hard to reach bc of a medical issue), and lovely host.
A few things need updating or repair— the grill doesn’t get above 300°, the washer and dryer need to be repaired (washer was hard to turn on, dryer didn’t turn off on its own). There are only three beach chairs. But we managed just fine.
My only complaint is that we were asked to bring our own sheets and towels when that was not mentioned in the listing, and I had to negotiate on that point since we were traveling from CA, NC, and OH. When we got there, the house literally had cupboards full of sheets and towels. We paid a cleaning fee, started laundry before we checked out, and there was a washer and dryer on-site— so it’s confusing why we were asked to bring our own. It was enough of a hassle that I thought others should know going in. That said, I’d go there again in a heartbeat if I didn’t have to schlep my own linens.
All in all, this was a beautiful place that was a pleasure to stay in.
