About this property
Granary Experience - Wooden Chalet in a plantation
The Chalet has a king size bed, a balcony and an en-suite bathroom is in a plantation spread across 600 acres that houses the once summer palace to the Regent Queen of Travancore, our property is also an ornithologist’s paradise.
You have the crickets conducting an orchestra and plenty of bird-songs to tap your feet to. On our morning safari, you might spot the barking deer, and learn to discern its unique prosody. Luxury, to us, is a sense of contentment and quietude.
With sights and sounds of endless charm, this Plantation Experience is one that truly captivates your mind and spirit.
Our specialty is the Tea Experience, at an extra cost, which takes you on a journey of folklore and history of the ancient tea trade that traversed these parts of Kerala. Locally sourced tea leaves from our plantations and the onset of our own tea factory have paved way for the Peermade Tea brand, a label of both flavor and quality.
Tea Factory Visit (at an extra cost): Learn more about ‘orthodox’ tea with a guided visit of our fields and our state of the art factory. Learn the finer nuances and the little known facts of the most beloved beverage in the world.
The jeep safari within the plantation(at an extra cost) allows you to explore the magnificent, rich biodiversity of the western ghats. Hills and valleys, breathtaking viewpoints, rich bird-life, pristine waterfalls and a variety of plantation crops including tea, spices and several fruits are all a part of this sumptuous experience.
Cycling: Make the most of our property by exploring the beautiful trails along the estate.
Discover the sounds of nature and unwind while you work up an appetite for a sumptuous meal at our lounge restaurant.

Why they chose this property
This Granary experience is unique in that we offer you, much more than luxury comforts, but distinct memories of a moment in time rooted to this land. Our cabins evoke the poetics of space associated with the Raj, quiet, elegant, with natural light carrying out a crucial role in this recreation of the past.
The mornings at Misty Mountain hark back to the romantic impulse that seized the Lake poets, and in the evening you could loiter amidst the shades of green so special to this region.
You could also saunter into our tea lounge, finding a colonial vintage oasis in the middle of a lush jungle. Sample our blends and note the sometimes subtle, sometimes potent differences. There’s no need for a playlist here, you have the crickets conducting orchestra plenty of birdsongs to tap your feet to. Our property is also an ornithologist’s paradise. What makes this property unique
At Peermade, we’ve run a century-old estate. We’ve seen history unfurl before our eyes, the Raj leaving the country, which brought us to the Nehruvian era where most of our tea was sold to CTC manufacturing for export to Russia. We took it upon ourselves to restore our legacy and start a factory that was dedicated to making quality Orthodox tea.
We have three wooden chalets built in our estate to provide our guests an experience that they would cherish.
