About this property
Port Talbot White House.
Beautifully renovated 6000 square foot home nestled amongst the trees of the Port Talbot Estate.
The White House has it all! A private Lake Erie beachfront (shared only with the other 2 cottages on the property,) endless hiking trails, beautiful cliff bluffs and a winding creek that's perfect for a morning canoe ride through the forest.
The space
Located at the end of a long private lane, The White House has everything you’ll need for a quiet stay away from it all. The White House is situated on an expansive lawn, with access to the converted garage featuring a wood burning stove, lawn games, stereo system, a bar and fridge and a ping pong table.
Lake Erie is accessed by a short walk down the private laneway left of the house. On your way down to the beach you will pass the Chalet on your left and further down the cottage is on the right. The beach at Port Talbot is in a very natural state. Driftwood, sand and rocks are deposited and removed by the lake at will and we do not try to maintain it. We cannot guarantee what condition the beach will be in during your stay, some days the lake churns up a beautiful sandy stretch, other days it is scattered with driftwood and pebbles.
Guest access
You'll have access to the beach, hiking trails, and your own backyard with a BBQ and a fire pit included in your booking.
You may find the owners on site as well as other guests staying at one of the other houses.
There is an inlet where the Talbot Creek and Lake Erie meet. Some locals canoe and kayak on the Talbot Creek so there may be additional people enjoying the area.
You're welcome to swim, explore and play in Lake Erie. We have a couple canoes and kayaks you are welcome to use after signing a waiver. Please only use them in the creek and not in the lake unless you are a very skilled boater. Be mindful of the ever changing water levels and lake currents, rough water and undertows of Lake Erie. There is no lifeguard on site, and any water activity is at your own risk.
Other things to note
Due to the lack of internet providers in the area the internet service is limited. Speeds may fluctuate and it also may completely not work as it is based on Xplornet Satellite and weather affects it.
