About this property
Lovely Seaside Casa in Need of Repairs
This grand casa is in a peaceful location on the coast. Walk down to the beach or to Casares. Sadly it was hit by storms and sustained much damage. We have now re-roofed the casa, but much more repair is needed to restore its beauty. This listing is ideal for someone who is looking for a diamond-in-the rough at a big discount and wants a medium to long term rental in a relaxing location. Note photos are pre-hurricane. Visit casa prior to booking for inspection or request more details.
The space
Photos were taken in January 2023 with effort to show repairs needed. Our goal is to restore the beauty of this house in 2023 by making remaining repairs, so for now we are offering a deep discount on stays.
Our beachfront casa sits high catching ocean breezes. There is a path to the beach as well as the natural protected rock pool (ocean water).
Driving to the casa is straightforward and on excellent paved roads. The house sits on the Pacific Ocean in between the tourist town La Boquita and the fishing town Caseres (just a couple of minutes to each). We recommend that you hire a driver rather than rent a car.
In nearby Casares, you will find basic grocery items, restaurants, and LOTS of fresh fish for reasonable prices.
In a nutshell, here is why we love the casa and think you will too:
- Many beaches along Nicaragua's wild Pacific coast aren't safe for swimming - but the beach in front of our casa is safe and beautiful with a natural rock pool and various tidal pools with rock formations
- The sunsets are spectacular whether enjoyed from the beach or from our casa terrace.
- The nearby ocean provides the relaxing sound of waves breaking on the beach ease you to sleep
- The gorgeous beach provides for an enjoyable walk and opportunities for collecting shells, rocks, or sea glass - walk to the nearby town Casares or just meander
- Ocean breezes help cool the property
Amenities
- Very spacious three level home with lots of outdoor terrace space
- Hammocks on the terraces catching ocean breezes are very relaxing
- Penthouse-style master bedroom gives a wrap-around view of the ocean with maximum privacy (NOTE: this bedroom does not currently have sheetrock ceiling, although lower 4 bedrooms do.)
- Huge beautiful spaces to hang out with loved ones; lots of spaces to have some quiet time too
- An ocean-view dipping pool on the top terrace allows for a brief dip without having to leave the grounds of our casa
- Laundry services, meal preparation and cleaning services are available upon request for a reasonable fee
- Rustic old-world charm
- Lovely people and safe community
Other things to note:
Please note that rental includes normal water delivery from public water supplier; if you need additional water, you may purchase from private suppliers. We normally do not, but we are careful with our water usage. This is not unique to our home, but certainly something to be aware of in Nicaragua.
Casa rules:
We treat all people with courtesy and respect and ask our guests to do the same. We have a happy and relaxing environment at the casa, and it's important to us to continue fostering that positive culture. Our caretaker family lives on the premises, so this is a family friendly environment. Please ensure all behavior is family friendly.
No parties may be hosted at the casa.
No illegal activity is allowed. Absolutely no violent behavior will be tolerated.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in immediate termination of your rental usage of the casa.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Nicaragua about a decade ago and absolutely love spending time at our casa. The last few years have brought unique challenges, but we are ready to roll our sleeves up in 2023 and restore the beauty of this lovely home. Our plan is to offer deep discounts until the repairs are complete and use the revenue to pay for the repairs.
We fell in love with this home and the caretaker family on premises in 2013. We love the beach below and ability to safely swim - it's truly a beautiful beach. We like that we can walk to Casares easily, and that la Boquita is just down the road. Everyone enjoys the hammocks and rocking chairs on the terrace. Also, there are so many things to do nearby and easy day-trips to all kinds of interesting destinations.

What makes this property unique
There is a lovely caretaker family on premises. For a reasonable fee, they are happy to assist with cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. They are a great resource to direct you if you need something or need to know where to go in the area. They are kind and always make our stay at the casa more pleasant.
