Relax and unwind in this stunning home overlooking the beautiful St. Lawrence river, just minutes from town. This spacious home features 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a modern kitchen, large living areas on both levels, porch, large deck, 2 patios and over 200 ft of pristine shoreline.

This area is a 4 season destination for lovers of swimming, biking, hiking, paddling, fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and more.

Located just 3 hours from Toronto, 1.75 hours from Ottawa and 25 minutes from Kingston.

The home is located just 5-minutes from the town of Gananoque, where you’ll find live theatre, shops, an antique boat museum, helicopter tours, 1000 islands cruises, art galleries and a wide variety of cafes and restaurants.

For nature enthusiasts, you’ll be treated to beautiful sunsets, an endless array of wildlife, and a river full of swans, ducks and geese. If you happen to be a birdwatcher, grab your binoculars and enjoy the abundance of feathered friends that live in our area.

For much of the year, this area is a cyclists’ paradise as it is situated near some of the best biking routes around. These routes will take you west on County Road/Hwy 2 toward Kingston, or east along the 1000 Islands Parkway toward Brockville.

The waterfront features over 200 feet of shoreline and is great for spending time with friends and family. There is easy water access for those who like to swim. There is also a small 26' dock that is suitable for small watercraft such as rowboats, canoes, kayaks, Seadoos, etc.

The property is in a small rural community just outside of town with only a small number of neighbours. The main road ends at a small ferry that goes to Howe Island. This home itself is located off the main ferry road down a gravel laneway that has 2 forks and is located on the left-hand fork which is shared with only one other family. You will see a large metal quonset structure adjacent to the home which is used to store grounds keeping equipment.

Ample parking is available on the home's circular driveway that also includes 2 additional parking spaces. The laneway and main ferry road are both very walkable. Town is just 5 minutes east by car.

This house has one RING Video Doorbell which is located at the entrance to the front porch and only has a view of the sidewalk. Sound recording has NOT been enabled and the device will be deactivated after guests check-in

Amazing River front cottage

Perfect place for a family vacation. Clear, warm water, beautiful wildlife, and the power boats are far away on the other side of the river.

Amazing. Wonderful. Scenic.

Fantastic waterfront location just outside Gananoque. Beautiful views, lots of waterbirds (esp herons and swans) and so many places to sit and look both inside and outside. The kitchen is wonderfully stocked, and lots of room inside for everyone to lounge around. The house is spacious and welcoming, and outside there is a canoe, kayaks, everything you could need or want. Finally the host is communicative, clear, responsive, thorough and helpful. He has thought of everything!

Amazing getaway

We rented this property for a girlfriend’s getaway (party of 6). The property is so beautiful with an amazing view and sunset. There was plenty of space. We went hicking (Landon bay) and went paddleboarding. I highly recommend this property.

Amazing place - highly recommend!

Just came back from a week’s stay - it was simply amazing! Everything was very clean, and Chris made sure we had everything we needed. The property was very roomy, with plenty of space for our two families (4 adults and 4 kids). The large waterfront was awesome, and the water was crystal clear. The area is beautiful with lots to do. The town is only 5 minutes away which made it super convenient. We hope to be back soon!

Perfect place

A group of 4 friends going back to 1978 had a wonderful reunion in this spacious yet cozy house. A fantastic setting, quiet yet quite close to town, beautiful views, well-appointed kitchen, comfortable. The host provided great instructions and an excellent guide to the environs was available at the house. A-1 all around.

Best VRBO stay ever!

This stay deserves no less than a glowing review! We've used VRBO rentals for a few years now, and this stay was most certainly been the best. Everything was thoughtfully appointed, well organized, sparkling clean, and contained every amenity we could have hoped for--inside and out. From creating elaborate breakfasts and grilled dinners, to kayaking and paddleboarding, a pier to accommodate our boat, and an amazing view from a perfectly designed home on the river, we couldn't have asked for more. In addition, we enjoyed visiting the town and exploring the community. Chris is a most accommodating and gracious host, and we look forward to returning in the future. Highly recommend!

Gananoque Cottage

I don't have much to complain about regarding this house. It's cozy, and comfortable, offers an awesome view, and has everything you need for a good time with your family and friends. I asked my wife if she had any suggestions, and she mentioned she would like to have more dishcloths. I think I was the only one who had a minor issue–I'd prefer the curtains to block out all the sunlight because I enjoy sleeping in complete darkness. It would be nice to have a waffle maker, but none of these minor things detracted from our experience. I would really like to come back in another season, and I recommend Chris' cottage to my friends for a weekend or holiday getaway. As a host, Chris was always there to prompt answer my questions.

Most incredible place we’ve ever stayed!

This property was absolutely gorgeous and soooooo immaculately clean! I have NEVER seen a place so clean! It was comfortable and had everything we needed! It’s was perfect and peaceful! We took our adult daughter and our two 11 year old grandsons. The river dock and swimming area were so much fun and pristine. The water was crystal clear. We had a ton of fun with the kayaks and paddle board. Lots of wildlife to enjoy. The climate control in the house was perfect. We couldn’t believe how quiet it was. The wind was whipping up a storm and we had some wind warnings one night. But you couldn’t hear a peep from outside with the windows and the doors closed. Plenty of pillows and blankets provided as well as towels. The beds were just a tad more firm than what we’re used to. But definitely not something to worry about. It was so close to grocery stores and restaurants. Attractions all within a very short drive. But yet just out of the way enough to seem secluded. The breeze off of the river was heavenly. Chris the owner was so helpful and very responsive. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet, clean, comfortable and beautiful vacation space. I’m very picky, so you can trust me on this. You will love this vacation home.

Five Star PLUS !

I know that this review will be important to those looking for a place to stay that will meet your needs. Truly, you need look no further. Chris is a wonderful host that does not intrude on your stay but assures that you have anything you might need. This home is a gem among gems! It offers cozy places throughout that one can take a hike, have private conversations, read a book or join in a group anywhere. The deck area is perfect for your morning coffee. The layout of both living areas (upstairs and down) afford each of the two bedrooms adjoined your own private spaces if needed. The kitchen offers anything a chef could want! There is nothing lacking!!! The river has sandy shores that you can easily walk into for a swim (summer suggested). ;-) The flocks of swans, geese and gulls will entertain you. The river view is spectacular in the fall. Oh the colors!! They are astounding and the privacy of this particular area of the house serene, private and lovely. This by far was better than taking a cruise which I have done many times. I've vacationed in over 19 states and this is among my favorite place - if not my #1! The town of "GAN" offers lots to do within its little haven feeling. Brew pubs, nice dining, shopping etc. Short drives to Kingston and others nearby as well! I cannot thank Chris enough for sharing his home. I have memories I will always remember. We will be coming back I have no doubts. Thank you Chris!

About the host

I grew up in this this gorgeous area and have family roots from here that go back over 100 years. This property is very special to me due it's lineage and I am very proud of the work we have done to keep it up, update the home and to and make it the space it is today.

Why they chose this property

This property is almost 7 acres in size, most of which is park-like and easily accessible to guests. With over 200 feet of shoreline on the St. Lawrence River, it offers guest the opportunity to play, relax, swim, canoe, kayak and generally unwind. Easy access to the water is available from the small dock or from a set of rock stairs that descend into the crystal clear waters. Multiple seating areas are located around the house which makes it easy to find a favourite spot for your stay. There's lots of places to explore nearby, either by foot, bike, boat or car. See the 1000 islands up close by kayak or paddleboard - many of the islands that make up the1000 Islands national Park are nearby.

What makes this property unique

The views of the river from the home never get old. Each season showcases its own unique beauty whether is the mid-summer sunsets, the view of Howe Island showing off its fall colours, or the silvery blues of the ice covered St. Lawrence in the winter.
