About this property

Villa Eustachio beautiful villa on the Amalfi coast

The villa Eustachio is situated in a village called Scala, not far from the centre of Ravello (about 2 Km). The villa is reached by a medieval path(400 mt.) with 150 stairs but once there you are in heaven with a fabulous view of the coastline including Amalfi and Atrani. This villa is a typical example of a Mediterranean and Amalfitana house, with all the modern comforts. With the 150 steps in mind, the owners have arranged for a donkey service for luggage at the guest’s disposal; this service can be used between 3.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.(The day of the arrival and of the departures all the group together ,for a booking of minimum 7 nights)This service is not included in low season From November till march included. If some guest will arrive during the week the service is not included, and it costs 10€ per luggage

The villa has a central area, as well as two other apartments. There is a swimming pool of 4.5 meters by 9.50 meters which is for the exclusive use of the guests. The house is in perfect condition, recently restored, and on the ground floor there is the larger terrace of the house and the swimming pool. From here you enter the house into a large living room with separate open kitchen which has a washing machine and dishwasher. There is a TV. There is also one toilet on this floor. On the first level there are three bedrooms (one double plus an extra bed and two double ), all the rooms have the ensuite bathroom with shower, all with the air conditioning. There are also two more smaller apartments which we always rent together within the main building: First, the apartment named La Rondine can accommodate 5 people and is situated on the ground floor with a living room with double fold out sofa bed and a balcony with sea view, bathroom with shower, on the first floor there is a double bedroom pluas a single bedroom connected, with a sloping ceiling, and an half bathroom. Second, the apartment named Garden can accommodate 2+2 people and is composed of a living room (where is a sofa bed) a bathroom with shower, and a bedroom.

Ravello is situated in a splendid position, on a rocky in a more elevated position than the other pearls of the Amalfi Coast. In the last century Ravello became a preferred destination of the Grand Tour, educational and pleasure travels of European intellectuals and artists. In Ravello Wagner, Longfellow and many others stayed for a time, and everybody was enchanted by the extraordinary fascination of these places. Among the numerous churches in Ravello, undoubtedly the Cathedral and Chiesa del Toro, besides the famous S. Francesco cloister, deserve a particular mention. Not to miss Villa Rufolo, very ancient, built approximately in year 1280 by the homonymous family, one of the richest and most important families in Ravello. Even though it has been rearranged, the building still completely expresses an interesting Arabian-Norman style. Concerts are held In the villa during the summer time; the audience is enchanted to see the orchestra that plays as if it were suspended half-way up on a uniformly blue setting, represented by sky and sea.

To be visited also is Villa Cimbrone, that was built in the twentieth century and was commissioned by the English nobleman William Bechett. This villa imitates classicized and medieval styles and forms. Its celebrity is due to the already-quoted 'Terrace of infinity', that is really one of the most charming places on the Coast. But the beauty of the Villa consists in its gardens, decorated by statues, busts and marble groups.

Spectacular location, property and host!

Communication prior to arrival was exceptional and very helpful. Pasquale and Marco met us exactly where we needed to park, with the Donkeys for luggage and parking passes. Walked with us to the Villa, went through every item we possibly needed to know. We went for my 40th birthday and it was a trip of a lifetime. The villa was perfect, views were perfect And the walking was great! Don’t be afraid of the walking, but if you expect to sit in a car and drive everywhere, you should do your research and probably go somewhere more boring. Pasquale and Marco make the process so easy and are extremely helpful. Do the pizza night first night to settle in.

Amazing house and hosts

This house is a once in a lifetime experience. The beauty of the house/location/view is overwhelming. It is very close to Ravello and Amalfi for a day trip. The house is especially great for a family. You should consider accessibility when booking this house as the house is a up/downhill path from the nearest road for a car - the path isn’t hard to walk for younger/able-bodied people. Definitely recommend booking the donkeys for your luggage. The hosts are great and very helpful and welcoming. Our family had an amazing experience!

Family Wedding

The villa was great for a family holiday. The steps down to the villa were difficult for a couple of the older members of the family but not completely unmanageable. The pool and the view from the pool terrace was fantastic. Scala itself is very beautiful and was quite during the time of our stay. Overall we had a fantastic stay whilst attending a family wedding on Ravello.

Unforgettable Experience at Italian Villa with AMAZING hosts.

Our recent stay at this Italian villa, nestled conveniently near Ravello and Amalfi, was an extraordinary experience. The villa's location provided easy access to these charming coastal towns and the nearby ferry, allowing us to explore other parts of the coast with ease. However, it's important to note that the villa is not accessible by car. While the host and staff went above and beyond to assist us - helping carry our baby to the villa and arranging for a doctor to come to the house when my husband needed it. He even DROVE me to the pharmacy to get the medicine. They went WAY above and beyond. The staff's hospitality didn't stop there; they even arranged a grocery delivery upon our arrival and offered excellent wine, both of which added to the comfort and enjoyment of our stay. The location, exceptional service, and authentic Italian experience make this villa a standout choice for those able to navigate the access. If you're seeking a memorable getaway on the beautiful Italian coast, this villa comes highly recommended.

Beautiful Amalfi Coast Location

We really enjoyed our time at the Villa Eustachio. The setting was fabulous - overlooking the beautiful gorges below, next to a ruin, and the deep blue Mediterranean was the perfect backdrop to each morning's coffee. Pasquale and Marcos (twin brothers who manage the property), made us the most wonderful pizza from their on-site pizza oven on the night of our arrival (literally the most delicious pizza we had the entire trip through Italy!), and they also procured a boat for a tour along the coast and to Capri. The villa is very spacious. This villa is removed from any streets, so there are a lot of steps to the unit. However, they had donkeys to transport our luggage, and it was a 3 minute walk (for those in great shape), and a 10 minute walk for those of us who needed the walk :) We absolutely would stay at Villa Eustachio should we ever be so lucky to get back to the Amalfi Coast!

Villa Eustachio was fabulous, as we the hosts, Pasquale and Marco.

The villa is filled with historic Italian character, plenty of room for large families, beautiful landscaping and terraces, and a refreshing pool. Guests must have a Piazzolo one night, take a boat trip with Mario to Capri and of course be prepared for the stone steps up and down. We loved it and will be back!

Room for improvement

We were over for a family wedding and had a good week on the whole. The villa had a lot of good points, though there are some issues which I think should be addressed and I hope this is taken constructively. Things we liked: lots of space. The 2 separate annex style flats worked well for us to allow some of us to have a bit more space. Incredible view. Great outdoor terrace and pool area. Things we found annoying: the lack of cleaning provisions (we had to buy new sponges as the ones there were so dirty). Having to put some form of bin out every night. The hot water was intermittent. No oil or basic provisions for cooking. There is a cap on the amount of electricity you can use (bearing in mind how much you pay to the the villa). I found the constant dialogue with the owners a bit too much. They are very nice and helpful, but my experience with villas previously has been that you rent it and are left to enjoy the holiday. Looking at my WhatsApp, I had a message or voice note every day from the owners. The fact there was a leak and the lounge flooded did not help here - and to their credit, they were quick to resolve this. Things we found unacceptable: being given one toilet roll per toilet, and being told we had to buy more. Not getting a change of towels in the week. There is a washing machine, but they do not provide any laundry powder or way to wash them. Again, for the money spent, I think this is unacceptable. As an aside, the walk to and from the villa is well documented and did not phase us. Bear in mind, in the height if summer it is hot and feels a long way back after a big meal. Parking was easy enough and I would recommend getting a car (need to go to the shops to get the toilet rolls after all).

Beautiful home on the Amalfi coast

This property is very spacious, beautiful, and the location can not be beat. Pasquale was a great host, providing a lot of useful information and available when needed. I would recommend the option which Pasquale offers to have the donkeys help carry the bags to the house, as it is a long walk to the house (many steps along a downhill path). While we loved the long walk because it allows you to enjoy the spectacular views, please know that if you have a walking impediment, there’s no other way to get to the house. At the house itself the views are breathtaking! I recommend this property wholeheartedly.

Excellent villa/quiet place to stay with incredible views

Pasquale and Marco are incredible hosts. Their villa is a piece of heaven on earth. The views of Amalfi are breathtaking and we found the villa to be sparkling clean and comfortable. Pasquale and Marco check in on you everyday to be sure you have what you need for your stay. I could contact them by phone with a question and they immediately responded. My husband, kids and I cannot stop talking about the fabulous vacation on the Amalfi coast Italy we just had as a family. We ventured into the Amalfi beach, took a day trip to Capri and Sorrento and just relaxed some days by the pool. The town of Scala, where the villa is located, is so charming with markets and restaurants. The town of Pontone is just a few steps down the mountain with a fabulous restaurant and bar. We give Pasquel and Marco 5 stars and we thank them both for a wonderful vacation that we won’t soon forget.

Villa Eustachio

First of all, I want to thank our gracious hosts for being so attentive and accommodating during our stay. Pasquale and Marco were available multiple times during the week to assist with questions and arrange local transportation. They organized a private chef for pizza night at the villa one night, and also arranged a spectacular private boat to tour Capri and view the coastline. This was the highlight of our stay. They were kind to arrange parking passes for us to park in the local street parking as well as a basic stock of groceries on arrival day. The villa is beautiful, exactly as described. It is positioned overlooking the town of Pontone, and further on, Amalfi. The views are spectacular. The pool area is where we spent the most time, and it is beautifully furnished with a long dining table and lots of seating to enjoy the pool and the views. I would underscore the previous comments regarding the effort it takes to get to and from the villa by foot. We had donkeys to carry our belongings on check in and check out, but be aware that guests must carry out their own glass bottles up to the top of the parking area. We did this daily whenever we left the villa, divided among 11 of us. It took our group (ages 18 to 65) about 8-10 minutes , (rushing) and 10-15 minutes (more leasurely)to walk up to where the cars are parked. We are all in reasonable shape. This is not a criticism, just information to pass on. Anyone with mobility concerns should reconsider this rental. Having said this, we realize the villa is so special because it requires effort to get to. It is extremely peaceful. Several in our group walked down to Amalfi, then returned by bus. We all enjoyed Ravello, which is easy to drive to and park. The small town of Atrani was fun for a local beach day and lunch. Because we were a large group, we generated a fair amount of trash, which we were attentive to dividing and bagging., but we never fully mastered the system of the nighttime pickup, so I send my apologies to the owners for this. We enjoyed several local restaurants both in Scala and Pontone. The locals could not have been nicer, or more welcoming. We cooked at the villa 3 nights out of 7, and found the kitchen well equipped. This was a memorable week for our group, and we thank both Marco and Pasquale for their tremendous hospitality.

A great family villa in a truly beautiful setting.

We came to Villa Eustachio as the second alert of our holiday after a few days in Rome - looking for peace! We were not disappointed. The location is incredible. The walk down to the villa through a warren of medieval footpaths and stone buildings (with our luggage carried by donkeys!) revealed spectacular views down to Amalfi and, finally, the villa itself, nestled by the picturesque ruins of the church of St Eustachio. Internally, Villa Eustachio is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. All scrupulously clean and well tended. The kitchen is particularly good (important, as we like to cook). The real highlight, though, is the outside space. The main terrace takes full advantage of the incredible views and offers a good-sized, deep pool, plenty of space for loungers and a dining table. Heading down a short flight of steps, there is a pretty garden, with another dining area a separate, shady space for relaxing in front of the view or watching the lizards that dart around the trees. This area has a well designed outdoor kitchen, with barbecue space, pizza oven, etc. If you can drag yourself away from the villa, it is easy to head down the dramatic steps to Amalfi (and take the bus back up!) or to walk 10mins down the hill to Pontone, where we found 2 basic, but excellent, restaurants. Ravello itself is a very short drive away and we also headed across to Pompeii and took a boat to Capri. Finally, I must thank our hosts, Pasquale and Marco, for all their help during our stay. From the greeting when we arrived to the help with our bags as we left (via restaurant and taxi bookings during our stay) they we’re the epitome of Italian friendliness and hospitality.

Villa Eustachio is simply great. The owners provided a splendid service. perfect for relaxing.

We had 14 wonderful days in The Villa Enjoying the great weather and the nice swimming pool. Together with our children and grandchildren we enjoyed the stay very much. Although we were 15 people the house was not crowded. Great to be away from the touristic sites and being in small villages, Scala and Pontone where there was very good and cheap restaurants making very good food. Visiting Pompei, Ravello and Amalfi during our stay convinced for us that Scala and. Pontone were the perfect place to stay calm and very quiet. Sitting on the terrace in the morning overlooking the sea and the mountains we could hear the roosters and hens yelling, and the villages slowly waking up for the next days work and pleasure. 150 steps from the parking to he house and another steps down to Pontone seemed easy after the first week and some of us became more fit during our stay. As our grandchildren stated it was their best holiday ever, and we can only recommend the Villa for a relaxing holiday. Doris and Hans and family from Denmark - 21/7 - 4/8 2018

Just wonderful

It doesn't get better than this. Villa Eustachio is a beautiful villa set down in a lovely quiete peaceful setting. The Villa is clean and ornately furnished in a country style. If the best views of the Amalfi coast are in Ravello, villa Eustachio is the best place to enjoy them! The outstanding feature is the swimming pool, huge, spotlessly clean and in a beautiful garden. I definitely recommend to anyone.

Lovely

We found this beautiful villa on VRBO. As we looked at the pictures online, we smiled at the awesome grandeur with hopes that it would satisfy our dream wishes. Upon arrival, we saw that it was everything it ought to have been. The place was enchanting. It was laid out in a style which comfortably established sleeping and private space for our very large group, which was sixteen in all the first couple of nights. Not only were the separate bedrooms adequate, but it accommodated us together well also, as we rested and dined on the poolside terrace, after cooking some Italian cuisine in the airy kitchen. When we got there, Marco and Pasquale were easy to work with, making arrangements easy. Very well done, Guys! They were available, after too, but we had no problems. If there were some things to discover for guests to critique, it was little indeed. One could mention that it was an easy walk downwards to the villa, on foot, as we had to park a ways away, but that it was much harder walking up the stair-like path to go out. This could be a problem if someone has an illness, or health problems, or advanced age. However, we saw this as a good opportunity for exercise, as if in a hike. One could find it to be exhilarating with the right attitude if one is generally healthy. The mule, carrying our loads at the end, was an added and fun bonus. Another slight critique to mention: for Americans, hot water was great, but towels were not abundant. We have heard that Italians do it this way, with fewer towels, and it worked out fine. No real complaints, as there was a washer and detergent, and plenty of drying rack space in the warm outside air. There was a huge dining table inside, but other living room space was a bit more sparing. We were on the roomy terrace a lot, especially in the evening, and no one complained once about lacking somewhere to sit. The bedrooms' sizes more than made up for any lack of living room seating. The view from the balconies was enormous and gorgeous. So the breathtaking view was magnificent, the rooms were spacious and immaculate, the terrace at night was bliss, the pool was clean. The yard was beautiful. The bells ringing out from the town each hour were a favor from the past which we savored. We loved our stay there. It was sentimentally Italian, it was a Mediterranean seaside with the view, it was a modern opportunity to live that which is seldomly tangible. Lots of memories to last a lifetime from there, and the Amalfi area.

Dream Come True

This was our fourth trip to Italy with our children and grandchildren We had stayed at lovely places but the Villa was the best accomodation we experienced. Everybody liked everything. From the oldest (74) to the youngest (6) everyone luxuriated in the beauty of the outdoors, the gardens, the pool, the breathtaking views and enjoyed the exquisitively appointed indoors. Every room has its own character and all are most comfortable. We especially like cooking and spent fun times in the great kitchen. Pasquale and marco took very good care of us and their property by being extremely attentive without even once becoming intrusive. We are grateful! As far as the steps to and from Scala and Amalfi go, they provided a wonderful challenge among all of us. Who would climb them the fastest and how often during our vacation?? Guess who won! Pontone, just below the villa, offered excellent restaurants and Ravello enchanted us with its fabulous music. A dream come true.

expectations exceeded!

This large, clean and comfortable villa is perched on a cliff high above the beautiful town of Amalfi. It is surrounded by lemon groves and private gardens. The villa owners went well beyond the call of duty to make sure all twelve of us were always satisfied. Everyone - from age 4 to 64 - felt truly lucky to spend time in this magical place. You will NOT be disappointed!
