While mother nature didn't work with us, dumping 30 inches of snow in the area, the house was large enough and had amenities to prevent cabin fever. Multiple tvs and sitting areas, pool table and retro arcade video gaming gave us stuff to do as the snow poured down.
We had a great time during our stay. The house had all the features described on the website, and the host promptly answered all our questions. I highly recommend it.
This property is very nice, well stocked with anything you will need, and private. The added touches of a welcome basket, phone chargers in every room, awesome fire pit, lots of seats and umbrella on back porch, and immaculately clean made for the best weekend of reconnecting with Navy buddies after 33 years. The beach is close, small restaurants, and yet quiet location made for one awesome stay.
The communications about this place and how to check-in and out was excellent.
Highly recommend and look forward to going back.
This property was perfect for our family of 8 (6 adults and 2 kids). The location was ideal for a short drive to Lake Erie to swim, as well as to visit family in Conneaut. The house was perfect for entertaining. The kids loved the pool table and video games. There were tvs in every room. The owner thought of everything! We highly recommend this property.
Booked last minute for extra family members coming into town for a baby shower. The house is set up perfectly, we will use this property in the future when we have events.
Not too far from the beach(had to drive). Not a lot of extra activities to do unless you fish or boat. We enjoyed family time and a few beach outings. Great kitchen to cook in!
Just like being at out own home. So clean and loved the decor. Had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Beds were great for sleeping. Had a wonderful welcome basket and a bottle of wine. Deck was so nice with great gas grille. We plan to book again next year.
We really enjoyed our stay! Doug was very responsive but did not hover. A great combination. My kids really enjoyed the extensive grounds as well as the arcade, and I loved the large and well stocked kitchen and all the living space for everyone to spread out in. The local beaches were beautiful, and we enjoyed the fresh produce. We are planning on coming back next year!
The Poore how’s was great! It offered plenty of sleeping for everyone. The backyard fire pit and downstairs game room with pool table and video game was perfect entertainment while relaxing and waiting for wedding day! I would definitely recommend this rental😊
The home was well renovated and has lots of space with 5 bedrooms. The billiards table is great, with short cuts for the slightly narrow space. An arcade machine with hundreds of classic games let's you live out your nostalgia. The kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and there was even a few bags of popcorn available. Everything was clean and ready for us, and the host was very helpful via text. An awesome place to getaway, and probably fish nearby in Lake Erie.
This place is AMAZING! We have stayed at probably at least 35+ VRBOs and this one is easily in the top 5. The floor layout is perfect. Spacious yard. Faster Wi-Fi than my own home. Comfortable beds. Awesome fireplace. Fun games. Cornhole. This place has it all, and MORE! The owners were very prompt with replying and super friendly and generous. We will definitely be back if we come back to the area!
We had a great stay at the Poore House. The home is newly remodeled and was a great fit for our family and dog. Beautiful new deck out back. Good hiking spot just 100 yards up the road called the Sand Barrens. The host Doug was easy to communicate with and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. 7 mins to Conneaut Harbor which made for a quick trip each morning to launch the boat and enjoy the walleye fishing and then switch gears in the afternoon to spend some time at the local wineries. I would highly recommend this house.
This was exactly what we were looking for. This home comfortably accommodated our family of 10. The home was recently remodeled and had all the creature comforts one could want. The kids loved the pool table and video game. We barbequed on the fire pit at night. While the home is in close proximity to the water, access to the public beach is about a 10 - 15 minute drive in Conneaut. The beach and park in Conneaut is really nice though. Plenty of parking, clean and not crowded. The are multiple beaches. Would definitely go back.
What can we say... It was flat out an amazing trip. Our host was over the top. The little perks were such a surprise. Everything was SUPER Clean. lawn was manicured. We extended 1 additional day simply because it was so terrific. The extra help out with events that were going on in the area put Douglas over the top. We went there to fish and we ended up going to the D-Day reenactment. We took in the shops in the area and even went on a day trip Niagara Falls. It was so nice going back to house every night and having absolutly everything we could ever need. WE WILL BE COMING BACK...
Beautiful home! This home and its property fit our every need. Many thoughtful considerations in this home. The essentials were all provided and the extras were such a nice touch - very welcoming from the minute we walked in. The location was perfect - felt like we were in the country, yet we were close to the lake and the events we were in town to attend! Doug was very responsive in the planning stages and during our stay.
Some of the highlights for our stay included:
- The deck - mornings on this deck were so relaxing! Lots of comfortable furniture and a table with an umbrella. The whole family enjoyed the deck and we cooked a spectacular breakfast on the amazing grill!
- The fire pit - s'mores around the fire and plenty of chairs! And corn hole was a great time!
The kitchen/living room - the open concept was perfect for hanging out with everyone around the kitchen island and in the living room together.
The bedrooms - tvs, chargers, fans, super cute decor!
The bathrooms - great to have 3 full baths!
The basement - perfect hangout for the teenagers! The pool table was fun!
We look forward to staying here again!
There were 9 adults in our group and we had so much room in this house. We had 2 very early morning rises due to fishing charters….everyone slept good and remarked at how comfortable the beds were. The whole house has been remodeled with high quality upgrades and warming decorations.
Doug was super with the communication. Several hours before our check in, he found out that the AC wasn’t working. He told us he was getting it fixed and would be ready by the time we got there. It was extremely hot that day and he did indeed have it ready for us.
Our group enjoyed all of the extra perks that the house offers….the fire pit (wood was supplied by Doug), the pool table, the deck and a grill that anyone would love to have on their own porch! He stocked the refrigerator with water and made sure the spare fridge was ready for all of the fish that we caught. We had our fish cleaned at the marina, but he has a nice area to clean your own fish, if you would so choose.
We chartered fishing trips out of the Ashtabula Marina which was less than a 20 minute drive.
We had good fishing, good sleep and a lot of laughing which made for a great weekend getaway.
