We had a great stay here for a long family weekend. The house is outside the hustle and bustle of Portland but a very quick and easy drive in. Also a quick drive from downtown Falmouth which has great restaurants and shops. More than enough space for the family and was great to have so much space to spread out. A great house and would recommend anyone rent.
Took advantage of my family while my mother was in the ICU.
I’m Dan, a US Navy sailor currently on emergency leave because my mother was in critical condition at Maine Medical Center. My parents were on vacation at the time and we have no family in the area, so we had been hopping from place to place as her prognosis develops. My wife booked this property to give us a place to live for a little while. We have an evolving group of people with us as people fly in and out to support my mom. We asked if they would waive their max occupancy, to which they cordially agreed. On arrival, we found that the property was more cramped than we had expected, but decided to stay considering the circumstances. The place was hot from the summer heat so we turned on the A/Cs. After a few minutes, the increased power draw blew a fuse. Based on the property’s outdated electrical, we expected this was likely to happen again and notified the property owner of our intention to find other accommodations. We requested a partial refund, offering to pay for the first night. Unwilling to compromise, they told us they were sending a handyman to replace the fuse and would not refund us. We filed with Vrbo, only to be told we were welcome to return to the property. The prorated refund would have been around $5k. You return home from 6 months of deployment in the Middle East because your mother is dying and the first group of people you do business with immediately steal $5k out of your pocket! Wish I was making this up, honestly just sad.
We had a quick family getaway over July 4 at this house. The location worked well for us being just 10 min from my son and daughter-in-law’s home. And it was great to be able to be just a short walk from a good viewing of Portland’s fireworks. As other reviewers have mentioned, the house is on a well trafficked road and there is noise but there is a back porch and yard. The beds were comfortable. The upstairs rooms have low ceilings and funny angles that are awkward so beware any tall folks in your party.
My sisters and I came to visit our brother who lives in Portland. The house was neat and clean and comfortable. Conveniently located within 10 minutes of just about every place we wanted to go. Lovely updated kitchen and bathroom. Good water pressure. Love the modern mirror in the bathroom. Air conditioners worked well to keep us cool. It was in the 90’s the first couple days we visited. We enjoyed chatting around the kitchen table and relaxing in the living room. We would highly recommend this property and will likely rent again.
We rented this place for a girls' weekend trip. It was about an 8-minute drive to downtown Portland which was nice, but it was on a busy street so not as much of a neighborhood feel. The kitchen was nice and updated and the living room was cozy. We had six adults with us, so it was a little difficult with only one shower but we made it work. The upstairs bedrooms were a little oddly spaced - it felt like we were always ducking moving about to try and not hit the ceiling fan nor the slanted ceilings. The back screened-in patio was nice to have our coffees and read during the mornings. The property host was communicative and responded quickly to a few questions that I asked. Overall, a good stay but just wouldn't recommend it for groups of more than 3 or 4 adults!
Nice house for my group of 4, with adequate space for a couple more if needed. House was cleaned and tidy and is accurately presented in the pictures you see in this listing. A missed opportunity by our group to utilize the backyard space, including the porch and grill. Window AC units in each bedroom for temperature control. House is on a busy road so you will hear traffic noise, however it didn’t interfere with our access to the house or our ability to come and go from the property. Quick drive into Portland and to the airport from the house.
This property was nicely redone, cute decor, and very clean. It worked well for our family of 4 while visiting Portland. It was a good location for getting to the places we wanted to go. It is on a busy highway so it's not a place for coming to relax and lounge around, but that was not what we needed so it was perfect. It did have a cute and comfy back screened in porch to enjoy at the end of the day. Host left a nice snack basket and had fresh flowers in the kitchen and master bedroom which was a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.
The house is exactly as advertised. Very easy stay in Portland, quick drive to everything. House is super clean and has everything you need. Located on a busier street, but quiet, fenced-in backyard. Would stay again!
