About this property

Full Cabin: 21 Steps to the Lake! PET FRIENDLY!

The Wolf Cabin is 21 steps from the lake. It features 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a full kitchen with gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, drip coffee maker and enough cooking utensils, dishes and flatware to get you by. There is a small dining table and a futon with an armchair for you to relax in too. We are a pet friendly resort, so please bring your furry friends along! Please note, there is a fee for pets, please record this at the time of booking.

1 GB of WiFi works all the way to the end of the dock, and there’s also Roku Television with Spectrum.
It also has a NEW live edge countertop, sink and backsplash! We also added new fans to each bedroom. And do provide towels and linens for the beds now too!
Outside there is a picnic table, Weber Charcoal Grill, and a couple of chairs.
Shared amenities are the beach, dock, fire pit, kayaks, tetherball, shuffleboard, and a fish cleaning station. There is plenty of private parking right across the street for your vehicles and trailers.

The Houghton Lake area almost has too many things to mention. We are walking distance to the copper gazebo where the birdwatching and fishing are incredible. Swimming, boating (several places to rent pontoons, or we have some small fishing boats to rent too), waterskiing, GOLF (many great courses in the immediate area), fishing, hiking, ORV’s are for rent right down the street (snowmobiles too), geocaching (one of the largest in the state), shopping, eating, kayaking, color tours, cross country skiing, sledding, and many, many more things to do here.

beautiful beach and lake view!

was as described, wifi and tv streaming could be better, we just watched tv shows on our iPad and used our own data, what was supplied might have reached the dock but you couldn't do anything with it lol! the party store within walking distance had everything we needed plus, awesome pizza breakfast sandwiches and the meat market 5 miles away was unbelievably awesome!

Wonderful family getaway

We stayed at the property for 4 nights and 5 days. Tom (the owner) stopped by on day of check in to make sure we had all we needed. We loved the close access to water and beach and the kids were up and swimming within minutes of waking each day! The shared ammenities of the fire pit, dock and playscape was great! The cabin was well stocked and.EXTREMELY clean upon arrival. We will definitely stay here again!

Exactly as advertised

This was the perfect getaway for the four of us. What really stood out was the cleanliness. We’ve stayed in quite a few similar places and this by far was the cleanest. You assume there will be a certain amount of cobwebs and/or crawling critters but we experienced none. That was a first. We will return for future visits.

Beautiful spot for a Family reunion

We rented out the entire Resort for a family reunion, including the house. We had brothers and sisters from as far away as Florida, Arizona, Ohio and Michigan gather for this event. The cabins were clean and the beds comfy. There was shuffleboard, kayaks, paddle boards and small boats with motors. Great beach area with the lake steps away. Big firepit for the evening was a hit for roasting hot dogs and smores for the kids. Had a great week.

Great find

Nice resort with great views of Houghton Lake. The cabin had everything we needed. The beach was sandy and had room to park our boat on the dock. We'll be back.

The Smolinski family fell in love with the Whitetail Family Resort as soon as we saw it. The lake is incredible, peaceful and serene especially in North Bay where it is located. We bought the resort in 2021 with the goal of having a place that would give guests a place to make memories with their family and friends and hopefully bring a smile to their faces that will last a lifetime…just like the stories we’ve heard from guests that have been coming back year after year after year for decades.

It is formerly Morris’ Northernaire Resort in the 50’s where they used to raise bear cubs right here on the resort for guests to play with. It is amazing hearing the stories from past guests that have enjoyed staying here.
