Our 2nd stay was as good as the 1st!

We were glad to be back at Dawn's for another relaxing week this summer. Everything was clean, Dawn was a lovely host and we enjoyed lots of time in the pool and on the water directly behind the home. At Dawn's recommendation we found a great spa nearby in Kent Narrows and took a day trip into St. Michaels too. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Dawn's Paradise Cove

What great time! The house is on a side street. Not much traffic, very quiet. We felt as though, We were at home . But, even better...We were on the Wye River... Dawn is very friendly and accommodating. I forgot a closet full of shirts and Dawn was quick to tell me, keep them safe, and make arrangements to pick them up. Thanks Dawn, for being so nice! We can't wait to visit again! Thanks again, Jack and Jill

The Cove on the Wye

Loved this comfortable charming house tucked in a small neighborhood with a beautiful peace of property on the Wye River, cozy, quiet back yard and deck on the water, where we looked forward to coming “home” to after exploring all day, enjoyed St. Michael and the Maritime Museum and day trip to Delaware, absolutely loved Maryland and Chesapeake Bay Area, it was our favorite out of 7 destinations along the east coast and mountains, the best was arriving to the house with a Scavenger Hunt to do in the nearby beautiful neighborhood, the house host was extremely helpful and friendly, and her personal touches made our stay there the best, would highly recommend

Relaxing Stay

Such a relaxing location and house! The weather was hot, so we spent most of our time in the pool. The water access was fantastic for dropping in some kayaks. The house is comfortable and homey and sitting on the back deck is relaxing. There's everything you need in the kitchen to cook during your stay. Your a short drive away from restaurants and a local store. Dawn was a fantastic host - easy to communicate with and made sure we were all set to have a great vacation!

Cozy, comfortable and relaxing

Dawn was a wonderful host. She answered questions quickly and provided all that we needed. My two girls loved the pool and taking the canoe out on the river. We also enjoyed seeing all kinds of birds including a heron who did his daily fishing 100 yards away and a turtle who made a number of appearances. Such a nice break from our usual hustle and bustle boardwalk vacation. A bonus was an opportunity to try paddle boarding nearby. We had a great time! Thanks Dawn!

Perfect relaxing vacation

The property was lovely and the owner was very easy to work with and very accomodating. The only problem was that each of the bedrooms show a TV in the online listing, but one did not have a TV when we arrived. This was a problem because I was trying to make sure everyone had total freedom to do what they wanted but one guest only had access to the communal TV, which my husband adopted as his own. I'm still working on getting my husband to share a TV,.

A true escape from the beaten path, serenity at it's finest!

I've driven through the Queenstown/Kent Narrows area hundreds of times, but this was the first time I have experienced what the Wye River has to offer. Conveniently located minutes from Queenstown this charming river home helped us feel thousands of miles away. We celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary here, and being able to reach St. Michael's easily or just sip coffee under the pavilion overlooking the river we had a weekend that honestly felt more like a week. Dawn is a wonderful host and the care that is taken in helping you have a relaxing escape really does make a difference. We are already looking for a reason to return! Highly recommended!

Fall Weekend Getaway

Superb and utterly charming house overlooking a cove on the Wye River. Two couples spent a delightful weekend a this house as we explored the Eastern Shore. Our hostess was friendly, knowledgeable and kept a house very well stocked with thoughtful items. Would definitely go back again!

Wonderful experience

What a hidden gem! This waterfront property with its pristine pool is the perfect relaxing retreat. Mornings on the porch overlooking the Wye River, afternoons by the pool, delightful wildlife...such a relaxing getaway. Everything both inside and outside was immaculate and our host was most hospitable in our communcations with her and in providing for our every need. Just can't say enough good things about this place! We would definitely like to return in the future.

Enjoyable Stay in Queenstown

We enjoyed our getaway in Queenstown. The home provided the amenities we were looking for in this trip. We spent a lot of time in the pool, which was big and well cared for. Apprecaited all the linens, towels and kitchen products that Dawn made available to us. The property could use some updates but overall it was well taken care of. Unfortunately, we could not get cell service with our AT&T provider. It seems only Verizon works in that area. However, we had great wifi service. We just couldn't make any phone calls. We enjoyed a few day trips to Annapolis and St. Michaels while we stayed at the home. It is important to note that the home is about 30-40 minutes from each of those places though.

NIce, quiet and scenic

We had a great time, ate some of the best crabs that can be found on the Chesapeake and enjoyed some of the cute, historic towns in the region. Hope to return again soon!

Immaculate!!!

The home was just as advertised, even better. Great pool, back deck with awning, pavilion with six chairs and a table. Very clean. Nothing overlooked. Expertly decorated. We would rent again. Very quiet locale, yet close to a lot of restaurants and shopping.

The house and property were so accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We were able to anchor our sailboat in the deeper water and dingy to the dock and house. The house is adorable and has everything one needs. The dips into the pool were exactly what we needed after long days in the heat. We just couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. Dawn was very accessible and easy to contact. The whole experience was fabulous!

Perfect Family House on the Wye

My family really enjoyed our Cove on the Wye. This house is nicely decorated but not too cluttered or fragile. The deck with retractable awning, small pavilion (perfect for eating crabs) and the pool makes the outside are very enjoyable. The area is very relaxing and the Wye River may be the prettiest on the Chesapeake. Dawn provided most everything we needed. The dock is very shallow at low tide but we knew that and our 17 ft Carolina Skiff had no problems. I strongly recommend this house.

Another Fantastic Stay at Wye River Cape

This was our second stay at Wye River Cape and, once again, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The home is charming and the views are lovely. The porch is perfect for relaxing and watching family members as they fish off the dock. The pool is refreshing and the interior of the home is comfortable and welcoming. We hated to leave and look forward to another visit next year!

Wonderful Family Vacation Get Away

Our family really enjoyed Dawn's home. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The swimming pool was a great bonus especially since it was in the 90s the week we were there. Dawn was very easy to deal with and very kind. Her home is close to Annapolis and Washington DC if you wish to do some sightseeing.

Great family vacation home!

This home was perfect. From swimming to fishing, to grilling steaks, enjoying coffee on the deck to playing cards and boardgames. This was a great vacation place to spend quality family time. This home was fully stocked with every kitchen tool you needed, extra plates and utensils and plenty of fresh towels. The street is very quiet and the house was clean, the beds were comfortable. Only 35 minutes to Naval Academy and easy ride. I would definitely recommend this vacation rental!!! Owner has fantastic customer service as well!

Perfect get-away

The house is cozy but oh-so comfortable; the pics do not do it justice. Dawn is super accommodating and easy to work with. Back patio so picturesque and dock just steps away. We did struggle with our speed boat during low tide in the cove. And it could be the (late August) month, but the water was not swimmable in the cove (have to boat further out to the pristine river). But the protected river area was so calm for amazing tubing & waterski-ing! We also loved the pool; and visiting small nearby towns Stevensville and Centreville. Overall, we had a blast mixed with relaxation on the Wye River Cove.

Peace and Relaxation on the Wye

My small family and I stayed at this beautiful property for a long weekend to celebrate my son's 14th birthday. He brought two friends along and they all had a blast. The home itself is lovely. The owner clearly takes pride in her home and it shows in the decorating and cleanliness of the home and property. The master bedroom is quite spacious and the two bedrooms on the first floor were perfect for the three teenage boys (in fact, there was room for one more on a trundle bed.) The pool was refreshing and we all spent many hours swimming and playing games. The dock is a great place to fish and the boys each caught a few small fish. The owner allowed us use of her canoe; the boys thoroughly enjoyed their time on the water. The back deck is heaven. My husband and I spent countless hours watching the boys fish, watching the birds, and listening to the frogs and crickets. Our last evening was spent roasting marshmallows and chatting by the fire. I cannot put into words the pure relaxation this property provides. We will be rebooking for a week next summer, for sure! Thank you for your hospitality.

Wanted to stay longer!

Our family (parents, two tweens) enjoyed our stay greatly! The photos don't show the extent of the beauty of this well-appointed home. We enjoyed canoeing and fishing, and dining on crabs and oysters at nearby Chesapeake Bay eateries. The pool was a cool respite from the heat of the day! Dawn, always helpful, answered all questions and offered great recommendations. We had a wonderful time at Wye River Cape and would love to return one day.

Highly recommended!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Wye. My brother joined the Ironman in Cambridge, MD and me, my parents, my husband and 1 year old kid took the opportunity to make it as our little vacation trip. I chose the place mainly because Cambridge hotels and most houses in the area on the vrbo site were all booked. And I'm so glad for my choice, after a careful consideration, of course. The pool was perfect even for my kid. The view of the river from our house is perfect for picture taking. And we had everything we need to cook our own food and also barbecue. Grocery was accessible. There are good restaurants not far away. There's also a premium outlet nearby. Dawn is a gracious host, easy to reach and kind and patient to us esp.when we inadvertently stained her furniture. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks Dawn! I'll definitely choose the Wye again if ever there's a reason for us to be in the Eastern Shore area like maybe another vacation.

Wonderful spot

I stayed here with my husband, son and mother in law because we were attending a wedding at the Aspen Wye River conference center near by. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner was friendly and easy to deal with - always responded promptly to my emails and questions and was very accommodating. When we arrived, the house was spotless, which is always a big relief after a long day of travel. The upstairs suite is really large and open and light and airy, and the downstairs bedrooms were ore than comfortable. We enjoyed meals out on the porch, walking down to the dock with our toddler, running in the grass and taking walks through some of the neighborhoods. The location is close to the grocery stores near the Narrows, the outlets, and convenient to DC and Baltimore. No hesitations about this property at all!

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
When growing up my parents had a fishing charter business on the Chesapeake Bay, and I fell in love with spending time on the water. I worked hard to make my dream a reality and enjoy sharing my shore home with my family. The joy of watching the kids catch their first crab or searching for swans nests in the spring never gets old. Having this much nature at your doorstep is a simple pleasure we're lucky to have and happy to share.

Why they chose this property

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is a nature lovers paradise, Migratory Geese, Blue Heron, Swans and Osprey are just wonderful to view, and add a peaceful element to a hectic profession I've chosen.

What makes this property unique

Famous for the Chesapeake Blue Crab, the Wye River never disappoints, the crab bounty is excellent. Secondly, exists no commercial business, therefore the waters are pristine and perfect for swimming, kayaking, and wildfowl sightings. Its not unusual in the fall to spot a deer or two swimming across the river!!
