The main level showcases an updated kitchen, sunroom with an office area, dining area, and family room—ideal for gatherings or quiet moments. Step outside onto the new full-length deck, complete with lighting, a grill area, and covered seating, perfect for enjoying the breeze and sunset views.

Thanksgiving ar the Lake House

For the second time, we rented this beautiful house for Thanksgiving. It is centrally located for our family members and well equipped for cooking and entertaining. Terrific!

Great House and location

We loved our stay at this house! The location was perfect and the views from the house and the dock were beautiful. The house had plenty of space for everyone, including the dogs! The gated porch was great to keep the dogs in. Everything was clean and neat. We would definitely stay here again.

Merry Christmas at the Lake!

Loved our Lake Gaston stay. My family has always had lake gatherings since I was a little girl and this was the perfect way to continue this tradition with my children and grandchild. Amazing location! Serene, quiet, awesome sunsets. House was fantastic. Game room brought back childhood memories. Even as a December rental with colder weather, the house and lake was great for our Christmas family gathering. Would definitely consider renting again. Thank you!

Truly Awesome Sunsets

We thoroughly enjoyed this property. Fires, fishing, cards, pool, ping pong, boating, family meals and perfect weather. Even with 66 degree water temp we tubed and water skied! Plenty of kitchen supplies, plenty of room for all our food. Our dogs loved the dock and the yard. We will be back!

Great Accommodations

The house was very clean and in a quiet part of the lake. The owner worked with us on our check-in needs, which was much appreciated. The basement in particular is a very nice space and great to gather after a day in the sun.

Amazing Sunsets

Our family has been going to Lake Gaston for about 15 years & this Lake house is definitely one of our favorites ! It was very comfortable, clean ,well-stocked ! We loved the dock ,sunsets were amazing ! We enjoyed the firepit ,making S'mores & just sitting around it talking & having a drink ! Best of all being able to have our Fur Babies with us made everything PERFECT!!

This is the second time we have stayed here as a family vacation. As usual, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house offers everything you could possibly want. I would stay here every year if it's available and still at an affordable rate.

Great Place, Nice Location on the Lake

We had a great time here. Brought our boat and tied up at the dock. The house is located in a protected area from the main lake and we had a great time hanging out on the water. House is well stocked with water toys, so be sure to check them out. Listing is as described and the house is well maintained. Definitely recommend.

Meeting our boys from NC

My family and our friends live in MD. We met our sons who live in NC. The house was perfect for our group of 12. It is very spacious with lots of seating. The covered boat deck was awesome since our weather wasn’t great. The amenities were as advertised and there were a lot. We had a great weekend and would definitely go back.

We had an amazing time! There were so many things to do. The view was beautiful and they put a lot of thought into providing lots of options. Planning to return during the warmer months so that we can take more advantage of the outdoor activities.

Family Thanksgiving

We rented Awesome Sunsets as a central location for our extended family to celebrate Thanksgiving 2023. The property was immaculate and well appointed. Given that the main event was Thanksgiving, we were delighted to find 3 large refrigerator/freezers inside and another at the boat house. The house provided plenty of entertainment options for the family. We were delighted with this wonderful vacation rental!

Peace and quiet

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Awesome Sunsets. The kitchen is fully stocked and I cooked every night. Even though it was just the two of us, this place is great to share with family! The two separate living areas would allow for some great family fun playing pool and games while also providing some personal space. The view from the boat dock was a little slice of heaven. We could truly see ourselves living lake life on a more permanent basis. The hosts have really outdone themselves with all the little touches to make any length of stay a memorable one.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

This rental property is spectacular! The house is beautiful, and the lake view along with the dock, is amazing. You won’t want to leave. Situated in a beautiful neighborhood, with friendly people on and off the lake. Close to grocery store, marinas, public boat slips, restaurants. We would definitely stay here again! We all loved the house and views of the lake, and the dock was well thought out for convenience and relaxing. A definite must see, must stay location.

One last hoorah

One last trip hoorah before school starts. This place was great. Probably better than pictured and described. We had 8 adults and 6 kids 6 and under. There was plenty of room to play and sleep. House was clean and well stocked. Boat house is amazing and also well stocked with water skis,tubes,ropes,life jackets pool noodles like I’ve never seen, and fishing poles. Sunsets were amazing. We rented a pontoon from stonehouse timber lodge. The lady that runs it is great. It’s about a 25 minute boat ride back to the house. The cove the house is on is big and wasn’t very busy during our stay. Our only issue was that we couldn’t stay longer. Would love to do it again! Thanks for sharing your home!

Right to the top of our list!

We’ve been enjoying “family lake week” for years on Lake Gaston. “Awesome Sunsets” just shot to the top of our list for favorite lakefront properties. The gorgeous views from the house and expansive covered dock, picturesque sunsets, and the spacious, very comfortable, well-appointed home left us wanting for nothing this past week! Wonderful GetAway

We had a wonderful trip. The home is equipped with everything anyone could need. Top of the line on everything! Great dishes to cook with, lots of linens, even extra beach towels. Don was amazing to work with- answered every question we asked, within minutes. So accommodating and kind to let us use paddle boards, kayaks, every water floats, water toy imaginable. We rented a pontoon boat- and had an excellent experience- easy to tie up, and close boat ride to the home. Close to grocery store, and 6 miles to fabulous Waterview's restaurant. We will certainly be back!! We did not want to leave!! Thank you!

something for everyone

this is a fantastic property. room for everyone with very comfortable beds. kitchen is well stocked upstairs . 3 refrigerators made storing food and drinks a breeze. the dock and boathouse was our favorite spot.lots of water foats, life jackets and the 2 kayaks and paddleboard were used every Day!!! pwner was very responsive when we had an issue with the dishwasher and were missing some equipment. they even ordered a replacement and had it delivered while we were there. we hope to return to this house again. tha knyoy for sharing your home with others to enjoy!

Perfection!

I’m sure there isn’t enough space for me to shout out jus how wonderful our stay at Awesome Sunsets. It looked like we moved in that first day, but with FOUR refrigerators we did not run out of space. Not going to say much about the inside of the as there are good picture for you to see. What sets this place way above any bar we imagined is the DOCK! WATERLINE! FIREPIT!! So much room on the dock, you can have a table full (6) of cards players while others can hang out at the bar that seats 4. So saying all that there were 4 chaise lounge chairs and a sunny place for our Sun bunnies. The water? Not on the main lake (tks goodness) but a quiet wide cove to play without worry about other boats that much. OH and the deck around the house itself???? More comfy tables and chairs! AND our whole family was on vacation, even our four legged family Can’t say enough on how impressed we were with our stay you just cannot go wrong

A slice of heaven!

This was our first trip to Lake Gaston and it certainly will not be our last! The house is stellar to say the least! It worked out perfectly for our group. We had adults and tweens on the top floor and our teenage boys took over the bottom level: “The Man Cave!” I think they will be very disappointed when they go to college and find their apartments are not nearly as nice as this LOL! We could close the door and it was like having two houses in one! And what a prime location! You have deep water where the kids can jump and dive but not too deep where you’re over worried. The adults, my kids and their friends loved all of the many many amenities offered! There is way more than what’s listed on the site! I will say I was a bit perturbed that my Frogger skills didn’t return after many moons and I gave up on the arcade game but it was great! So nostalgic and even the young ones enjoyed playing! We rented a pontoon boat and my absolute favorite memory was how much our pups loved boating! One even walked down to the boathouse in the rain asking to go out on a ride. We all agreed that we are by far lake people over beach people and would love love love to return to this magnificent house next Summer!

Hello! I'm Don, your host at "Awesome Sunsets" on Lake Gaston. We're a family with three grown-up boys who still love to vacation at the lake along with their families, including our two adorable granddaughters. We're lucky to have four furry friends as well - a Golden Retriever, a Rottweiler, and two German Shepherds - who make our family time even more fun!

We first discovered Lake Gaston about five years ago when we downsized our boat for more family-friendly activities. We fell in love with the clean and warm water, and it quickly became our dream home location. After months of searching, we found "Awesome Sunsets" and knew it was the perfect fit for us. We decided to share our home as a vacation rental and connected with Bob, our amazing co-host with years of Lake Gaston rental experience, to help us provide the best possible experience for our guests.
