UPTOWN AREA – BETWEEN CONDO AREA (MANSION PARK/OAK LAWN) AND DOWNTOWN
Katy Trail Ice HouseCausal outdoor picnic style dining on the Katy Trail. Between Condo and Uptown on Routh. About a 15 minute walk from Condo right on Hood, Left on Fairmount until you see the two public tennis courts on your right. Go through the grass and up the hill behind tennis courts and you’re on the Katy Trail – Ice House is just to your left. You can then continue walking up Routh from the Ice House into UPTOWN. Lot’s of Bars, Restaurants and Whole Foods Grocery (with great wine/beer bar) is up on McKinney Avenue – once you hit McKinney left goes down towards Happies Hour Downtown Dallas and right takes you past the majority of the night spots, restaurants and bars.
Uptown/McKinney Ave is right at 1 mile from Condo. Poplular spots include The Stoneleigh Hotel and the Stoneleigh P bar – one of Dallas’ oldest bars with a totally different vibe than most uptown spots - a very easy 1/2 mile walk up maple from the condo.
Additional Access to the Katy Trail –
Exit Condo go right on Hood to Maple (3 blocks) Cross Maple and you’re in Riverchaun Park. On the far left side of the park you can walk up the cobblestone steps to the trail or go through the park to the far left corner and walk up the bike ramp. Go right on the Trail and your at American Airlines Center and down town area within 5 minutes. Great place to see is The Happiest Hour – casual bar/restaurant with outdoor seating and great views of downtown area. If you go left when you hit the trail from Riverchaun you will soon pass Katy Trail Ice house then head through Dallas’ Highland Park / SMU area if you keep walking to the end. You might see several hot spots you’re interested in along the way.
