Cottage on Puget Sound - has it all!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is extremely well equipped for anything you might need or want for meal prep, entertainment or just relaxing. The cottage is perfect for four individual guests or a family with plenty comfy beds and bathrooms. We also appreciated the ability to bring our as this made our vacation even more fun. We really enjoyed the areas to relax either on the deck or near the water. We spent a lot of time just watching the wildlife from the chairs on the shore where the view was captivating and consistently changing. Close by we found great short hikes and a lovely dinner or lunch spot at Alderbrook Resort. We also visited Olympia’s historic downtown district with many interesting shops and a fabulous farmers market that runs Thursday to Sunday. Back at the cottage we loved our afternoon out on the water using the complimentary kayaks that we launched off of the owner’s dock. The owner of the cottage has thought of it all in providing this property and they are available for any questions you might have during your stay. We will definitely consider a repeat stay!

Nice getaway

We used 2 Herons as a base to explore the different outdoor attractions in the Olympic Peninsula. From the cottage, we explored Port Townsend, Olympia National Park and Mt. Rainier. We were also close enough to Olympia to enjoy a few dinners there. We loved our stay and the cottage was perfect. It was well appointed and supplied - we especially appreciated the stock of basic household goods that saved us from buying paper goods etc. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed watching the inlet as we sipped our coffee in the morning. The owners were very sweet and eager to have us enjoy our stay. My children loved the yard and spent our time at the cottage playing ball and exploring. We would definitely rent again if we were in the area.

What a Place!

We stayed at this cottage for a week with our family of four in August. It was a great experience walking in after two long days of driving and hearing the teenagers get so excited about it. Some really unique features: all the loft dormers, the huge deck, Breakfast bar area with awesome windows, real copper countertop in master bath, claw foot tub, and gas grill for cooking outside. The kitchen had everything you could need. Lots of sitting areas for chillin. WiFi was excellent. The property was one of the reasons we chose it. You can generally hear a pin drop outside, far from any traffic. We seemed to see deer on the entry road or on the property every day. We did take the kayaks out for a 2 hr paddle on one of our less busy evenings, was fun. Kids saw a single seal on their voyage. We put on a lot of miles to Olympic, Mt Ranier, Mt Hood, Seattle, Portland, and three beaches. This was centrally located to all of those. We also met one of the owners on second to last night. Super nice guy. Highly reccomend this place!

Escape to the south Sound

Marvelous cottage on property with owners, but secluded and private on its own. Access to Sound with views, kayaks, and room to roam. Perfect getaway for couple of small family, just minutes from Olympia and all it offers - restaurants, farmers' market, seafood, marina, etc. Or just stay home and relax. The time is yours!

Nice stay at lovely property.

Two Herons was in a beautiful, quiet location, convenient to Shelton and Olympia. Cottage was well equipped with a great deck. We didn’t ever see or go to the water, which wasn’t really visible from the cottage. We spent most of the time visiting in Olympia, so water access wasn’t important. Parking was a little awkward.

Cottage in Shelton, WA

This was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay during our exploration of the Olympia area. The deck and outdoor space was wonderful and the cottage was appointed well. It was close to the owners home and a little awkward walking right past their front door to access the view to the bay. Would definitely consider the home again for rental

Deep Woods Relaxation in Luxury!

Not only is the property BEAUTIFUL but the cottage is as well. Our hosts have decorated and furnished this cute two-story cottage with the comfort of guests foremost in their minds. I swear there is EVERYTHING you need in all the cupboards, drawers and closets. And if you need food, or anything else, shopping is close at hand. Phil and Catharine are charming hosts who are handy if needed also. We loved our short stay at Two Heron's Cottage and would love to return for a longer stay. The beautiful green, wet country was a welcome respite from our Southern California "dryness" right now!

Super cute cottage

This cottage is so cozy and the upstairs king bed is super comfy. Clean and Very quiet, nestled in the woods. Note that it is behind the owners house on an inlet of the bay. It is pretty muddy and low tide so bring your boots if you want to explore around the water.

Olympia getaway

This property is amazing. We were up in the Olympia area looking for a vacation property to buy and this property was just perfect. The house is very well updated and clean. The location and view are wonderful. We enjoyed the wildlife and the St. Bernards next door. We didn't have any time to use the kayaks but that would have been fun too. I would definitely recommend this property.

Relaxing property

Great location feels in the wilderness but still near Olympia. Kayaking was really fun, but guests should know launching them is on a steep bank so you need good balance and strength to handle them. We were lucky with high tide and sunset being at the same time so we enjoyed 2 beautiful evenings on the water with our kids! The owners are generous in letting guests walk out past their house to the water view which is really beautiful. We enjoyed seeing herons and Osprey over the water. The open layout worked fine for our family. King size bed was comfortable. Kids loved the provided games. We would definitely come back!

Perfect place for a family getaway!

The vacation home was clean, comfortable and well decorated. The setting was peaceful and energizing at the same time. The owners were friendly and helpful upon check-in. This was the perfect place to spend time with our son and his girlfriend after not being able to see them due to the pandemic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

A VRBO Treasure

This is a really good property! Firstly, it was really clean and well equipped if you wish to cook.....I say this because other properties we have stayed in have old kitchen equipment or the level of cleanliness is more than to be desired. Not here.....this was v.clean and well thought out. Catherine and Phil were super easy to connect with.....always there if we needed help or ideas on what and where to go. Catherine in particular was awesome and so welcoming of our pup Harvey who felt so welcome. Asides from a spotless house, furnishings were all in good condition.....there was virtually nothing that we needed. We like to hike early AM and I guess that may be the only issue that we thought about this location. Most of the better hikes were 30-45 minutes drive away. We also loved being able to use their kayaks on the property. The lake / water around this property is spectacular and even if you are not a kayaker, make the effort to paddle out - it provides such a large wonderful sense of what exists around the lake that you would not see from the road. We never had the opportunity to harvest the oysters on the beach at the property, that was just because we ran out of time. Plenty of local and other foodie stores well within driving distance of the house.....we were surprised to see how well stocked the choices were. In summary, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely home. Catherine and Phil were the cherries on the cake....they really helped make an awesome visit memorable....thank you both so much for everything. We were sad to leave you

A perfect getaway- not too far from Olympia to visit our sons at Evergreen College

The house and property were lovely. The cottage is on the same property as the main house, but it never felt awkward or uncomfortable, and there is plenty of space between the two. The tides go in and out a significant amount, so you do have to time the kayak adventures around that which was no problem. Much to our surprise, we were able to catch a lovely view of Mt. Rainier from the kayaks. We hope to stay here again sometime!

We are a family owned business with 16 vacation rentals. We started in 1988 with a bed & breakfast, later began purchasing cabins at Stevens Pass, 2 waterfront cabins and then a resort at Mt. Rainier. We have lots of experience and passion for our guest satisfaction.

What makes this property unique

Take a walk out to the point that is surrounded by water on three sides. Fresh coffee in hand while you watch the fog lifts off the water … Seals splashing in the distance … An afghan thrown over your legs … A heron standing guard on the shore … The tide going out to starfish, spitting clams, and shells. . . Two kayakers drifting with the current … It’s the quiet you remember most. A year ‘round getaway. A refuge from the everyday.
