About this property

Animal Sanctuary, Horses, Pool, Spa, Small Weddings

The questions we get asked the most are:

1)Is the pool heated and is it open? The pool is not heated and it is usable June-October.

2)Can we host a wedding here? Yes, but you'll need to contact us before booking, rates are typical of a wedding venue, and we won't host more than 75 guests total. We only allow 4 events to be held each year.

3) Are roads maintained during snowy weather? We rarely get snow, but the farm is on the same grid as the hospital and we've never lost power and roads around us are well traveled and very well maintained.

4)Are you close to anything? We are close to everything! One of the last farms standing, we are a short uber ride to dozens of fabulous bars and restaurants, we are serviced by instacart, door dash, uber eats. We are less than a mile from a pub, gas station, espresso stand that is voted "Best of Olympia" year after year.

THE MANOR at SOUTH BAY

One of the elements that sets the Manor apart from other rentals in the area (aside from its size, beauty, and professional staff) is the animal sanctuary on site. The lovely animals that call our farm home have been rescued from processing plants, neglect, abuse, and more. Our rental funds the sanctuary, which is a win win for our guests! We appreciate that YOU make this possible.

Currently, the Manor is home to two rescued Old Spot Gloucestershire pigs who were bound for the freezer, 40 sheep who had the same fate, several horses who were rescued from slaughter.

The horses, pigs, and sheep are all available for guests to engage with. They love attention, and especially love treats. You can feed the pigs your table scraps, picnic with the sheep, and ride/visit the horses. (prior scheduling required)
Please see our albums for photos of the animals who call the Manor home. And if you have already booked your stay with us, THANK YOU for contributing to our success as we continue to rescue all types of animals who need us.

When you're done visiting the animals, you can adventure out onto our many many trails in the magical forest. It is also a great way to connect with nature, as you can often spot owls, huge bird nests, coyote tracks, ant hills, bunnies, and other fun wildlife.
And don't miss our amazing scavenger hunt suitable for all ages in the woods. Varying levels of difficulty so that everyone can participate and feel challenged. Scoring sheets are in the breakfast nook.

**We have brought back our volleyball net, and added even more lawn games.**

After booking, you will receive an email with optional upgrades you can order online such as pony rides, accompanying us while we feed animals, sheep petting, attending our working dog training (watch border collies herd sheep), farm tour, use of our large ballroom for family activities, and more!

You can expect professionalism and caring hospitality when staying at the Manor. We have been at this for over 16 years, and it's our main industry, not a side hustle.

From all day concierge service, to options like pre arrival grocery delivery and daily housekeeping, we go above and beyond to provide our guests with a 5 star experience in the comfort of a spacious home.
Our vacation rentals are fully prepped to perfection prior to your arrival.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please note: Quoted rates allow a 4pm check in and 11 am checkout. Daytime gatherings or other special events will require you to contact us for more info.

All guests, day time or overnight, must be disclosed at time of reservation. Please let us know your plans. We like to be accommodating but we've had too many groups try to have events under the guise of "a few friends coming over". We do charge for events. The rate you were given by VRBO is in direct relation to the number of guests you entered. We charge for excessive day time guests.

Great large group stay!
We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the available amenities (summer stuff wasn’t open yet ). We were able to make a short notice reservation, the staff communicated very well with all of our questions, and there was plenty of room for all 24 of us to be comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked for us to make a meal, we made use of the piano (slightly to of tune but it was just for fun anyhow!), and loved the hot tub in the rain! We would definitely go again if the opportunity arises!

We had a great time. The manor is a lot more rustic than expected. Some things were in need of repair, but we really enjoyed the huge deck, swimming pool, and hot tub. We had so much fun watching the working on the farm especially the border collies and sheep.

Perfect Family Reunion Retreat
We rented this beautiful property for a family reunion, and it was a great choice! The house was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, easily accommodating our large group of 12 plus daytime visitors. Each room was comfortable, with cozy beds and fresh linens. The large common areas were perfect for meals and games. The property had everything we needed, from a fully stocked kitchen to multiple entertainment options, including a ping pong table, lap pool, and hot tub. The outdoor space, with a large patio and barbecue grill was ideal for a family cookout and a great space to gather and take in views of Mount Rainier. Our host was incredibly responsive and accommodating, ensuring we had a comfortable stay. We highly recommend this property for any large gathering and look forward to returning in the future!

COUNTRY LIVING AT IT'S FINEST
The entire family had the most memorable time celebrating Papaw's retirement. We enjoyed every aspect of this beautiful sanctuary. From the scavenger hunt, to feeding the pigs from our table scraps, to treating the horses to carrots, or just chillin poolside or in the hot tub, volleyball and corn hole was fun too, we enjoyed every nook and cranny of this gorgeous farm house and its grounds. The views at sunrise with the animals grazing in the fields with Mt Rainier off in the backdrop was mesmerizing as we sipped our morning coffee/tea. The host was so gracious answering any questions we had too. This was definitely a family trip we'll all cherish:)

Local getaway but feels a world away
We had a group of about 10 ladies spending the weekend and a couple more that popped in for one evening. We all live locally but found that between the manor and the animals, we all felt like we were in another world for the weekend. The hot tub was huge and heated for our cold night soak, everyone slept very comfortably in the large rooms with lots of sleeping options to accommodate our individual needs, the living areas and kitchen are huge and all the ladies were able to hang out comfortably, and the house was well stocked and easily accommodated our large crew. We’re hoping to return in the warm months to enjoy the pool! Thanks for having us!

We had a nice time. . Your area with all the tree the pastor with horses, Sheep were so beautiful. Two cats were part of our group and got lots of attention. As I mention before we our a older group we felt their were missing. The baseboards were very dirt. Bath room with the tube did not have any hand rails to help getting out of the tub, the big bath room hand rails would nice since the the tile floors were slippery. Nice size patio. Would stay again. What a great location
A work conference in Olympia had me looking for a place for our group to stay. Our team is willing to share rooms, so this was a perfect location. We all agreed we would happily come back and rent it for longer (we were only overnight) in order to explore the property, make use of the amazing back deck, pool and hot tub and cook meals in the large kitchen. The bedrooms are very much as shown. Some have one bed and some have 3 beds per room. The staff working on the farm were friendly and chatted with us when we arrived. A great location for a staycation close to Seattle/Tacoma. Would be great for kids and families for a reunion, or a girls/guys weekend. Affordable for what you get. Thank you for the hospitality.

Close To Everything, Piece of Paradise
We had such a fantastic stay at the Manor. Our family got together for a late holiday gathering and we couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations. This was my second stay at this property and it was really fun to see all of the improvements made to make the place even more guest friendly. My family all raved about how comfy their beds were, and how the quiet country setting made sleeping in easy. My mom and uncle fought over who got to do the cooking, as the kitchen is huge and so easy to create meals in, the kids loved the Ping pong and horses and really always had plenty to do. The horses are super cute and actually come peek over the massive rock wall around the patio, looking for pets and treats. We fed them carrots and had permanent friends after that. The chickens are a riot as they just roam the property and come running to you if you look like you might have a snack to share. We are already discussing next year's visit to the Manor. It couldn't be better kept, everything was just spotless! And the owner is very accessible and helpful when we had questions. Everything was set up in a way that made our stay relaxing and stress free. Attention to detail and lots of effort goes into the manors maintenance and it made for a lovely stay. 5 stars!

Lemons to Lemonade
We spent 5 days at the Manor House. There were between 8 and 14 of us plus 2 dogs. We ranged in age from 3 months to 68 years. The location of the Manor House is great. You are near shopping as well as parks. I have stayed a vacation rentals over the past 20 years and never come across one in such poor repair. I have never written a negative review for any house visited over those years. This house, although lovely, is in a state of disrepair. There are too many issues to list. It is certainly usable but not what I expected based on the pictures. We encountered carpenter ants in the house. The carpet was stained and unraveling in places. Some of the beds were lumpy or slopping toward the center. The main bathroom had a broken mechanism to divert the bath water to the shower. Because we had a crescent wrench, we were able to make it work. Also, the stopper in the tub must be removed to use the shower. The Hot Tub did not work, even if it had, there were no instructions for its use. The gates that were suppose to secure the pool area did not latch so they could be pushed open which meant that our toddlers had to be watched constantly. Cupboards were missing doors in the kitchen. The front door handle did not have a striker and was just hanging on the door. There is a dead bolt lock which is the only way to secure the door. Several of the pieces of furniture were missing handles or knobs. The door to the dishwasher was missing a spring. Instead of replacing the spring, there was a sign on the door to be careful. This is also a working horse ranch. I was not prepared for the constant traffic up and down the driveway or the need to share the game area with those using the ranch or the thought that people would be peeking over the wall to watch us while we were in the back yard. The pool maintenance seemed to occur in the middle of the afternoon, exactly when the children wanted to use the pool. Overall, I was just disappointed. Misti, the owner, was responsive when we first arrived to get some of the issues repaired. Again, the house is beautiful. It is sad to see it in such disrepair. Also, when I pay top dollar for a vacation rental, expect it to be in good shape. We had a wonderful time, despite the issues. I just want people to be aware that although there are some wonderful reviews, my family and I did not find the house to be all that the others did.

Born and raised in Olympia, and after exploring the world, I have returned to make it my home. Along with my husband, I raise, train, sell polo ponies and teach others the sport.
The farm is home to 10 polo ponies, as well as rescue horses and horses we use in our riding lesson program.

Why they chose this property

The property serves families very well! There is a little nook for everyone.
One of the things I love about this house is that it is a peaceful sanctuary, making you feel miles away from the rat race, yet so very close to the uber colorful and artistic waterfront city of Olympia. I was born in Olympia, so if you need any recommendations during your stay, don't hesitate to ask me!

What makes this property unique

I absolutely love coming home, no matter where I have been. The serenity of being surrounded by the majestic Mt. Rainier, horses grazing in the rolling pastures, waking up to neighing and whinnies, the smells of lilac, apples, Rosemary...every season has its unique scents! The manor is cozy personified, yet elegant and so very comfortable. I love curling up with a book and cup of tea in the overstuffed library chair on those cold winter evenings....the crackle of the fireplace is one of my favorite sounds. I could go on and on about what I love about being at the Manor, but come see for yourself. I'm certain it will quickly become your home away from home.
