Executive Home,..not soo much.
We’re an active family of five that has booked nearly a dozen VRBO trips in the North Star area, but this experience was disappointing. Ironically, VRBO advertises the ability to “experience a home without the owner,” yet this rental felt like we had walked into someone’s personal cabin while they were still living there. The house was cluttered with personal items in the garage, hallways, and bedrooms. Kitchenware was mismatched and unclean, requiring rewashing. The fireplace lacked kindling and wood, making it difficult to start a fire. A visibly full Dyson vacuum was hanging in the kitchen/dining area, and the master bedroom fireplace was broken. The upstairs was filled with old toys, games, and puzzles—some might appreciate the access, but it added to the feeling that this was someone’s lived-in home rather than a properly managed rental.Additionally, the advertised “walk” to the village is actually a steep and poorly marked hike, especially when snow is present. It’s not suitable for toddlers, ski boots, or elderly guests, and we ended up having to drive instead.Advice for Future Renters: If you’re expecting a professionally managed rental, this may not be the best choice. Be prepared for a home that feels very lived-in, and plan to drive to the village rather than walk.
