Nestled in the serene and highly convenient Soda Springs neighborhood of PlaVada, this spacious home offers the perfect mountain getaway—just two hours from the East Bay. Ideally located near Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Donner Lake, and the Tahoe/Truckee region, adventure is always within reach.

With plenty of room for your entire family—and even enough space for two families to enjoy together—this home is the ultimate retreat for making unforgettable memories in the mountains.
Guest access
We are a keyless Vacation Rental. You will receive a code from me prior to check-in that will unlock the front door. (Just enter the code). This code will last throughout your stay. Please lock the house whenever you leave - lock the back door & upstairs porch from the inside, and then just push the ‘lock” button on the front door keypad. (No need to enter the code to lock it).

Note for winter:
The driveway will be plowed in the morning any time more than 3” of snow falls, but it is possible for snow to pile up between snow plow visits. The perimeter of the driveway has long plastic poles that can be used to help find it in deep snow. If you need to clear snow from the driveway or the walkway you can find a snow shovel leaning against the railing of the front porch that borders the driveway.

Other things to note
Winter weather:
Please keep in mind that we are high in the Sierras and in Winter there will be snow on the ground and it may be actively snowing on your way here, during your stay and on your way back. It’s totally reasonable to be uncomfortable driving in the snow, but if that’s you, it may be better to book during the warmer months. There is tons to do in the Sierras in Summer, late Spring, and early Fall - it’s an amazing area! In our community the roads and our driveway are plowed but if the snow is freshly fallen there may be some light shoveling on the walk way (shovel provided).

Stairs:
Please note that the stairs leading to the third floor are fairly steep. Our 6 year old and my mother in law are both able to navigate them fine, but if you have concerns that any member of your group may not be able to use them safely, please reach out and we would be happy to give you more details and help you determine if everyone in your group will be comfortable using the stairs. The cabin also has a baby gate in the downstairs bedroom’s closet that can be used to deter unwanted access to the stairs if desired.

Trash:
Please be aware that the cabin is in bear country. Because of this the HOA requires that all homes dispose of their trash in the bear proof dumpsters that are at the entrance to the development. There are no outdoor trash cans that can be used on the property. The bear proof dumpsters are about 1/4 mile from the cabin.

Pets:
This area is designated as an animal-free zone. If you have a service animal, we kindly ask that you respect our property and consider visiting a more pet-friendly location. Thank you for your understanding!

House rules:
We put a lot of effort into making our space warm, inviting, and comfortable for all our guests. In return, we kindly ask that you treat our home with care, just as you would your own, and follow all house rules. Please be mindful of our neighbors by respecting their yards, driveways and privacy.
***Any violation of the house rules, regardless of severity, may result in additional fees. Thank you for your cooperation!

Wonderful stay in a beautifully appointed home

Jessica’s home is well appointed, cute and thoughtfully put together. We were two couples and a 19 month old. There was tons of room for everyone and everything we needed to make lovely meals all weekend. She was a great communicator and host. Location was fabulous as well.

Perfect family cabin

This was our third stay in this lovely cabin. It very comfortably accommodates 3 families and the kids love the upstairs loft space to claim all to themselves. The kitchen is well stocked with whatever minor items you might need. It can be a little tough to get the heat adjusted right (at least in the winter) as there’s one thermostat for a 3 level home….but it’s not at all a major issue, just something to be aware of. The location was perfect for our ski weekend at Sugar Bowl, which is about 10 min away. We will happily return again and again.

We're a family of five living in the beautiful foothills of Northern California, where the great outdoors is a big part of our lives. Recently, we joined forces with our Nana to purchase this cozy cabin, and it has quickly become our favorite getaway in every season. Whether it's summer hikes, crisp autumn evenings, snowy winter retreats, or springtime adventures, we cherish every moment spent here. One of the things we love most is hearing from our guests—your stories, the memories you’ve made, and the special experiences you’ve had exploring the local sights. We hope this cozy cabin brings you as much joy as it does us!

Why they chose this property

The Pla-Vada neighborhood is a quiet, friendly community surrounded by nature. It’s the perfect place for a walk—or several throughout the day—along with fishing on the Yuba River, snowmobiling in the winter, and biking in the warmer months. Conveniently located near major ski resorts, it offers easy access without the traffic of Truckee while still being close enough for shopping and dining.

Nearby, you’ll find scenic hikes around Donner Lake, the historic train tunnels in Norden, and the Donner Camp Historic Trail. For a fun day trip, head to Incline Village for bowling just up the highway.

Bring your family and friends and create lasting outdoor memories!

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is perfect for multiple families, offering comfort and space for everyone. It features three bedrooms with large beds and private doors, plus an entire upstairs floor designed for kids and teenagers. The wood-burning fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere—perfect for curling up with a good book while watching the snow fall.

Ideally located near multiple ski resorts, our cabin allows you to choose the perfect slopes, whether you're a novice or an expert. If cross-country skiing is more your style, Royal Gorge is just 10 minutes away. Beyond winter sports, our location is central to California's rich history, charming window shopping, and indulgent dining in downtown Truckee.

Come experience firsthand why our cabin is the perfect getaway for family and friends!
