Great time at Villa la Paloma

We were two families from Europe (4 adults and 3 kids) and spent a fantastic time in this villa. We loved everything and especially the cleanliless/tidiness (great - especially for US standards!). If there is one small less positive thing to say is just, that the kids were missing a swimming-pool.

Best ever

I can’t say enough about the property and the owners. We have never been to a rental property that that was as clean, organized and well appointed as this. It’s a beautiful house, located on a large private lot in a quiet neighborhood. Great balconies to see the sun rise with your morning coffee. Great restaurants within easy walking or biking distance. The owners were fabulous. Easy to reach and very responsive. From our interactions they were the type of people that could be friends or neighbors. If we ever decide to come back to the Keys this spot would be at the top of list.

Beautiful Views...

Our stay at this Key Largo home was wonderful! Our favorite part was enjoying the beautiful views from all of the balconies and terraces, especially having breakfast on the second floor terrace overlooking the canal. The house is very spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished (it is nicer than what the pictures show) The kitchen is fully equipped. The kids had a great time fishing right off the pier in the back of the house.... It is right next to John Pennekamp State Park and close to the publix and KMart. We also visited the "Yellow Bait House" a few times as the kids wanted to buy bait to go fishing. We also purchased fresh fish at the Key Largo Fisheries which is close by and it was excellent! The house is spacious, well maintained and the views are oustanding! I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends. We will definitely come back soon!

The Perfect Place!

My wife and I had a perfectly wonderful month at Maria's and Leo's outstanding house in Key Largo. The house has all the comforts of home, is very quiet and private, well-maintained, delightfully airy, and quite large. (We have friends from Toronto who spent two weeks with us, and the spaciousness of the house enabled us to enjoy each other's company as though we had two apartments.) Like the others who have provided reviews, I especially enjoyed having my morning coffee and breakfast each day on the upper balcony, sitting in the sun surrounded by lush green and palm trees, overlooking a truly gorgeous stretch of water. Maria was exceptionally helpful in all respects, and she was very available by e-mail and phone any time we wanted to be in touch with her, even over the smallest of questions. If you are interested in spending time in the Key Largo area, I can't imagine a better property in which to enjoy the area. I really feel that the Macias house is the perfect place!

Classy

I rented this house for my parents and my sister and her husband. It is as beautiful as it is in the pictures. Huge open floor plan and nicely manicured gardens. Loved the kitchen as my family does a lot of cooking. Maria and Leo were there for any issues. The only things I personlly did not like about the property was the fact that the second master bedroom where I was staying did not lock and the fourth bedroom was a random daybed. But since we only needed three bedrooms, it was not an issue. Rent kayak and paddle around the shallow areas around the house to see fish, jellyfish and crabs in the crystal clear water. Pennycamp is nice, but my family prefers Bahia Hondia State Park. My dad and I went on the Dry Totugas Tour out of Key West with Yankee Freedom II which I recommend. I also recommend "the Hemingway" cocktail at Senior Freojes and the Theater of the Sea, which is the cure for the the jadedness that comes from going to to many overpriced, underwelming nature theme parks. I got my Scube Open Water certification with Ocean Divers. They were great orgnization which I would recoment for any of their instructional or tour offerings. If you are worn out from all the activities, you can always take a dip in the new hot tub Maria and Leo have added. Thank you for a great stay!

Excellent Home With Direct Water Access and Near Pennenkamp State Park!

We have been spending 6 to 8 weeks in the Keys each winter for last 5 years. Previous years we owned a motorhome so we stayed in RV Resorts/Parks in the Keys but this year we tried something different. We stayed in Leo and Maria's home in Key Largo from mid January to Mid March - what a great place! The home is directly on the water and across from Pennenkamp State park. The home is well kept with a recently remodeled kitchen and new appliances. Nice views of the water and great patio area on the lower floor with a hot tub/spa. We were used to moving every few weeks in the motorhome so we were somewhat concerned about staying "entertained" for two months in one location. Not a problem! Key Largo is only a short distance from the Everglades, Miami, Biscayne National Park and the remainder of the Keys. Key West is possible in a day and we drove down just to visit and wander the streets. We rented Kayaks for the duration of our stay and were on the water three or four times a week depending on the weather. This is a great location for water activities since the home has a launch ramp and boat dock. It took longer to apply sunscreen than it did to get the Kayaks in the water. Only a short paddle and we were in Pennenkamp Kayak trails. In addition there is always some organized activity in the keys each weekend,, Seafood festivals, Nautical Flea Markets, Food Fests, Biking, etc. The home is within walking distance of Pennenkamp so we walked into the park many times as well as walked to many of the excellent restaurants nearby. All in all we had a great time and will do it again if we have the chance! PS: Refund check for our deposit actually beat us home!!

Month in Key Largo

We really enjoyed our stay in Key Largo for the month of January. The house itself is elevated above a patio/parking. Upon entering the house, there is a hallway that divided the two sides of the house. One area has the master bedroom, master bathroom, den, second bedroom and a hallway bathroom. The master bed and bath are quite large. The master has a king bed, a good-sized walk-in closet and patio doors that lead to the balcony. The master bath has a large tub and a separate shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The bathroom is across the hallway. The den has a twin trundle bed. This area does not close off with a door. The main area of the house has the kitchen, living room area, dining area, and the second master bedroom. This second master is just off the kitchen and has its own bathroom and a queen bed. The house was well-equipped, and the appliances worked well. It has a big open living room/dining room area. The couches are new and were comfortable, and the TV set was large and worked well. The table in the dining area has seating for at least 6. The kitchen had a peninsula with 4 chairs available. This was a working vacation for my husband, so he set up his work area in the living room with a view of the balcony and water. The internet was spotty at times, but he was still able to make it work. The view from the large balcony was outstanding. The view is of the water, mangroves, and the edge of John Pennekamp State Park. The balcony off the living area had many chairs and a table to sit and enjoy the water view. The master bedroom also had a TV and a balcony. The queen bedroom also had a small TV and a balcony. The second master did not have a TV but had its own balcony also. The place does not have a garage, but the parking is covered. The laundry room is in the kitchen area. The house has a hot tub on the lower level along with comfortable seating for many. The backyard area is not sand but covered with a course gravel. We saw many spectacular sunrises at the house and sunsets at various places on the other side of the key. We had a couple of small issues that were dealt with in a satisfactory manner. The owners were very nice to work with and genuinely wanted us to have a great time at their house. It was close to many interesting areas, state parks, restaurants, and bars. The Key Largo area is beautiful, clean, and safe. We would recommend this rental for couples or families.

Key Largo-Paradise

This property is awesome & is in a perfect spot. A beautiful view of the water & just lovely inside & out. Plenty of room in the house and around the property. A must we found was kayaks & rented some-we went kayaking daily & saw the sights (manatees were very exciting to see). We also enjoyed the hot tub, which was quite relaxing during our stay. Maria was very nice & quick to respond if we had questions-a great host! I definitely recommend this property to others & we hope to come back!

Wonderful month in the Key Largo

The house was in a great location for everything we wanted to do on land and water. The peaceful setting of the large lot was beautiful and allowed plenty of room for privacy. The landscaping of mature plants made it feel like our own private resort. The house and property was supplied with everything to meet our needs. We were more than comfortable during our month there. We hope to return next year! Thank you for sharing your perfect Keys getaway!

A Month in Paradise.

We had a wonderful stay at this home! We live in Miami and needed a break, boy did this home and location deliver. From the moment we pulled up to the property we could tell that it was special. Our family, an adult daughter and adult son with his wife and baby, found all the room and space we needed to unwind and relax. The bedrooms are spacious and we’ll appointed. (The forth bedroom is more of an alcove with a day-bed, great for kids.) The three bathrooms are large and spacious. The common living area and kitchen are large and open, great for family gatherings. My favorite spot was outside on the second story balcony, beautiful view! A dock with ample space for our boat and a nice hot tub for relaxing after a day out on the boat are also included. We hope to be back next year, thank you Leo and Maria!

Relaxing at LaPaloma!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing month at this beautiful home. The back porch was a peaceful place to enjoy the morning sun with our coffee. The home is quite large, offering plenty of space for the guests who joined us during the stay. The kitchen was great to cook in! It was equipped with every appliance and utensil a cook would need. Our hosts, Leo and Maria, were very nice to work with, as well as accommodating and attentive. Maria offered suggestions for local attractions and even provided a complimentary pass to the state parks. We hope to have an opportunity to return to this island paradise home in the future! Thank you Leo and Maria for sharing your little piece of paradise!

Paradise in Key Largo

My family and I stayed at this beautiful house in Key Largo and it could not have been better. Leo and Maria were excellent to work with. The house is exactly as the pictures. Even better than the pictures show!

Our family (6 adults and 2 kids ages 6 and 2) stayed for a long weekend in the Keys. We were a bit nervous going so shortly after Irma, but the home and property were in great shape. It is private and secluded with a waterfront view just as the pictures show. Great local places to eats. Swam with the dolphins and visited the state park which were both less than 5 minutes away. Maria was great to deal with and I would reccomend this home to anyone looking to get away.

Beautiful waterfront home!

This home has spectacular views. It is spacious and very comfortable. It is well maintained and very clean. I particularly loved the kitchen. It is fully stocked with all the items needed to cook a family meal. We loved the peace and serenity that this luxurious home offers. We enjoyed using the hot tub after a day of fishing. My husband and son spent much of their time fishing off the dock. The owners were friendly and easy to reach. We have already planned our next trip to this wonderful Key Largo home.

Spacious and Private

We have been coming to Key Largo area for over 25 years and have experienced many different accommodations from townhomes, condos and various private homes. This property is the best that we have stayed. The house is very spacious and has been accessorized very nicely. The beds are very comfortable not like some that have seen their tired days. The kitchen is well equipped and has all of the necessary utilities. We liked having the separate ice maker. If you want privacy this place has it all. It is very spacious outside and there is minimal boat traffic. Tremendous views of the mangroves. The outside downstairs provided great space to gather with friends and family who visited us during our stay for the month of February. Plenty of space to park cars for the guests also. The grandkids loved the hot tub.The owners were very responsive and it was really nice to receive our security deposit in a couple of weeks after the rental....not like some other properties. Highly recommend Villa La Paloma for all seeking privacy with great accommodations. We will be back

Paradise Found

I have been fortunate to stay at this property. The interior is light, clean and airy. I especially enjoy the ever changing view to the east, over the water and mangroves as the sun comes up. What a great start to any day! So peaceful/calm and get exciting. Sunsets are grand also. Our grandchildren have accompanied us. There are magnificent beaches nearby. There is snorkeling, diving, fishing, canoeing and kayaking nearby or, comma one can simply just relax in this elegantly appointed home and I should mention that John Pennekamp State Park is nearby, as well as a multitude of fine restaurants serving food found only in this area. To sums things up, there is a plaque to the right of the main door as you leave: it simply says "Paradise Found". If you are fortunate enough to go to this property, you are, guaranteed to find Paradise.

About the host

Leo and I had a dream of having a home in the Florida Keys. Twenty years ago our dream came true when we purchased the land. Leo is a builder and took this project on. He designed the house and was there almost everyday to make sure is was built to his satisfation.

Why they chose this property

Key Largo is a beautiful little town that is close to our main home yet a totally different world. When we arrive in Key Largo all of our stress and worries go away. It is a little strip of land in the middle of the ocean. We often refer to it as driving into the ocean.

What makes this property unique

Since our property is on an acre of land, you have the ability to drive around the property. This is especially convenient when you are trying to load the boat with ice, bait, gear, etc. You can just drive up to the boat.
