The space
The main cabin has a luxurious 2nd floor master King suite with private en-suite including double vanity, jacuzzi soaking tub & separate shower.

Downstairs there are two more Queen bedrooms: “The Deer” & “The Bear”. Each bedroom has a queen bed, TV, full closet, dresser, & end tables. These bedrooms share a large bathroom with double vanity, tub shower & washer/dryer. “The Deer” bedroom also has an electric leather recliner-so comfy!
The main living/dining area is styled around the river rock gas fireplace with live edge mantle. On the mantle is an original oil painting by a local Blue Ridge artist. Amish-made live edge hickory furniture fills the space with comfort, form & function. The kitchen is open to the living room so everyone, including the cook can interact & enjoy! Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to create a lovely meal at home. Appliances are all stainless & stove/oven are gas. Good pots & pans, cookie sheet, colander, Tupperware, plenty of dish ware, mugs, glasses & silverware. Our coffee/tea/hot cocoa bar will delight you with all that’s needed for that hot beverage.
Outside, the huge covered wrap around porch can be used during any weather and in all seasons-Watch local wildlife, a rainstorm, snow falling or a sunset over the Blue Ridge while enjoying that morning Jo or evening glass of wine. The porch is furnished with Amish hickory rockers, & a cozy, cushioned conversation pit. The gas grill and hot tub are centrally located between the game room & main house so everyone can gather. Secluded Mountain Paradise

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This cabin is so spacious, well maintained and secluded. It has spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. We really enjoyed the game room, especially the high quality pool table. Our teenage sons never ran out of things to do! Additionally, the owners were more than willing to help or answer any questions we had at a moment’s notice. We would absolutely love to visit again!

Family fun!

We had the entire family (8 of us) and the place was a perfect fit for us . The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. We like to cook, so that was nice. They enjoyed the hot tub and everyone loved the porch! We saw deer in the mornings while enjoying our coffee on the porch. Sometimes when I've rented "pet-friendly" properties, they have not been the cleanest. That was NOT the case with this place. VERY clean and even had treats for my daughter's fur baby. She loved it! The location is super convenient to Ellijay and Blue Ridge. We enjoy hiking waterfalls and there were several close by. Communication with the host was quick and answered all my questions. Very nice!

Outstanding cabin with even better hosts!! Michele is wonderful to communicate with and very understanding should you have any issues or concerns during your vacation. Cabin is layed out perfectly and described very accurately! Lots of information provided by owner with thoughtful nuggets provided at the cabin. Very clean cabin and super close to all of the area’s attractions. Very quiet and great place to also escape from it all. We will be back.

Perfect Rustic Retreat

It was cozy, comfy and had amazing mountain views. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Perfect place for a family get away. Bunkhouse/Apartment perfect for fun and games for all ages. Driveway was a little challenging with motorcycles, but manageable. Every turn lead you to another stunning view. The location was 20 minutes from both Elijay & Blue Ridge. Perfect spot to relax, soak in all the views and have family time. Many memories made at this Retreat.

Relaxing

We stayed for 1 week it was very nice and quiet. The only thing is the furniture in main house could be upgraded to more comfortable couch and chair with recliners being the most used gathering place in the main house. The Host were great and we had a nice time.

Family weekend getaway

This was our first trip to Blue Ridge and it did not disappoint! The cabin was well stocked with all the essential items needed for the trip. We cooked steaks and burgers on two evenings and had everything needed to prepare those dinners. The grill was clean and stocked with propane, more than enough plates/ bowls/cutlery for the group, and plenty of seating. The cabin had plenty of space for a group of 8 and 2 pets. We loved drinking coffee in the morning on the large porch. It had plenty of comfortable seating for all of us. We tubed the Toccoa River, played golf at Old Toccoa Farms, visited downtown Blue Ridge and Mercier Orchards, and even took a day trip over to Helen, GA. Ed and Michele were very approachable and responsive with any questions or concerns. Made the process so easy and effortless. If your planning or thinking about planning a trip to the area don't look past this spacious retreat!

About the host

Hosted by Ed and Michele Shumaker

Host profile image
We reside in the N Florida Panhandle when we’re not at our N GA cabin. Ed is a retired 32 year Fire Captain, Michele has been a piano teacher & church music director. We are in our early 60’s and have raised our 3 grown kids and now are enjoying time going between N FL and the GA mountains with our 2 Boston Terriers.

Why they chose this property

The location of our cabin is in the Chatahoochee-Oconee National Forest just down the road from the southernmost Appalachian Trailhead. Hiking, waterfalls, kayaking, tubing, clay shooting, bird watching, fly fishing, zip lining all abound! Plus we are equal distance to many desirable quaint towns with shopping and great food: within 25 min to downtown Blue Ridge, Cherry Log & Ellijay. We are within 45 min to Dahlonega, Amicalola, Blairsville & more!

What makes this property unique

The Rustic Retreat is off the beaten path on a secluded wooded 3 acres with no one in sight but we are close to many activities & there are neighbors tucked into the mountain, you just can’t see them as the area is quiet & private. Also. Our property boasts 2 separate buildings: the main cabin sleeping 3/2 & the separate game room with the 4th bedroom and 3rd bathroom accessed up the exterior stairs attached to main cabin porch so you don’t have to touch the ground to go between the two. Sleeps 8 easily and lends toward two families traveling together or 3-4 couples enjoying privacy.
