Cretan Mountain Haven

This was one of the best places I have ever had the good fortune to stay. The owner, Konstantinos, acquired a few hundred year old property and renovated it into a unique and comfortable masterpiece for visitors. There are 5 'houses' each with a bedroom, living area, kitchen, shower/bath and couches with very comfortable pull out beds. Houses are carefully designed and have different layouts from one another. You could easily wander the property for hours admiring the cypress and beech woodwork, the paint color schema, flowers and plant arrangements, admiring antiques carefully placed on the walls or around the 'neighborhood', enjoy the pool or relax on one of the many patios or decks admiring the views, ambiance and richness of the area. There is an outstanding local taverna with fresh from the farm food in a very cute village. The breakfasts if requested are served in the shared common area and was UNBELIEVABLE. Perhaps the best meals we had in our 2 weeks in Greece. Even better, they provide so much freshly prepared food that you easily have leftovers for lunch to take with you on your daily adventures to Chania, beaches, or hikes. This has a rustic feel where you can hear roosters ushering in the morning and pick ripe figs off trees at your leisure. This is a must visit location if you are staying in Crete. The host is an amazing person, whose meticulous attention to detail and workmanship clearly represents a mix of deep love, talent, creativity and hard work.
