About this property
House of the Midnight Sheep
Step into a uniquely revisioned traditional Cycladic home perched at the edge of Ktikados village. Drop your bags, sweep open the double doors leading to the patio and settle in to an amphitheatrical view of mountain and sea!
The property consists of a series of terraces ideal for al fresco dining, lounging, and unparalleled sunset views.
During the day you can expect fly-bys by the local crows unique to the island and after the sun sets, moonlit visits from the valley sheep.
The space
The first floor:
A spacious living and dining area, with a sunny and inviting reading nook, and unlimited high-speed internet for those who need to stay connected.
A bathroom with handcrafted brass fixtures and rain shower.
A fully equipped kitchen, featuring a blend of tradition and functional style.
A welcoming primary bedroom, equipped with a brass bed and queen-sized Coco Mat mattress (160cm x 200cm) and direct terrace access.
The 'katoi' (lower) level:
An open air shower area, a vintage marble sink and a small WC.
Two bedrooms on this level feature traditional Tinian stone arches, double beds (140cm x 190cm), and wall-mounted fans.
A door leading to...
The property:
The back garden path and lower terraces with seating areas
The herb garden, citrus fruit, ancient olive, and fig trees.
The sweeping valley and sea views.
The Village - Ktikados:
An idyllic pedestrian village which offers up three excellent taverna options, as well as live greek music!
From the village path at the front door, access to several of the spectacular hiking trails - monopatia - winding through the valley to Hora, or on to the beaches of Kionia, and beyond.
The Island:
Centrally located, the house is a perfect base from which to explore this magnificent and perennially surprising island, with its dramatic stacked stone terracing, dovecote speckled valleys, 360 degree ocean views, enthralling and varied beaches, and renowned local food and wine culture, that will not fail to leave you wanting to return again and again.
Guest access
Guests will have full access to the entire house and garden.
Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE: During the months from Nov 1 through April 1, the first floor - which is fitted with both heat pump and radiator heating - is available for guests who would like to experience an authentic Cycladic winter, on an island that does not shutter its doors when high season comes to an end. Ask about special rates for extended stays. Perfect for sabbatical or work retreats.
