Quinta Jabali -- Romantic and Private Villa for Adults
Quinta Jabali (Spanish for "Country House of the Wild Boar") is a romantic and private retreat for 2 adults. The villa contains antique furnishings from around the world, providing a modern and rustic, yet elegant atmosphere. The covered pool terrace has 180-degree views of the Caribbean. The villa is surrounded by 2 acres of hillside desert tropical gardens containing many plants unique to Vieques. The pool is a chlorine-free saltwater oasis, with views of the Caribbean.
Houseguests have the entire villa and surrounding gardens to themselves. Quinta Jabali is the ultimate luxury retreat for those discerning adults seeking privacy and romance.
In 2018, the villa was converted to 100% solar, ensuring an eco-friendly and reliable source of power. The villa also contains two 25,000 gallon in-ground cisterns that collect rainwater, assuring a continuous source of water for house guests. WiFi is available.
A rental car is required in order to access the property - due to its rural location. There is no Uber or Lyft on Vieques. For safety reasons, we cannot allow golf carts or UTVs on the property. We strongly encourage all guests to make a rental car reservation immediately upon reserving the villa. Our house manager will meet houseguests at the rental car agency and houseguests can follow him to the villa.

Let’s start with the positive, the views were amazing and the pool was very nice. The cons of the property was the cleanliness, it looked like someone had not stayed for a while. Surfaces were dusty and cobwebs on the bed. Be advised if you can’t stand bugs this may not be the property for you.
We couldn't ask for more of this property! We relaxed on the pool deck with that amazing 180 view of the Carribean, watched the sun rise and set on the roof terrace (and star gazing at night), prepared simple meals in the equipped kitchenette and slept like babies at night. We used the beach chairs and cooler w/wheels every day we went out - we really needed those! So easy to get to Esperanza for a cool drink, eating out or to pick up a few groceries. And my goodness, it felt like we were living inside the Missouri Botanical Garden - which is saying ALOT! And both the owner and house manager were supremely helpful before and during our stay - nice people.
Amazing property. From the moment entering the gate, the property is like a private luxury resort. As all others stated, views are incredible. The bedroom being separate from the (unconditioned) living area was different, but most time was spent outside so it nearly does not matter. The covered porch makes relaxing outside very enjoyable although shade makes pool cooler (pro for some, con for others). The ac works very good in the bedroom and there were plenty blankets to lay on the bed to make it softer for our desires. A nice mattress topper would be ideal, but this is island life and limitations are understood. Outdoor showers were special, you def feel connected to nature. As the rest of the property, also very private. There are multiple fridges including a full size in the utility room which proved useful for ice for my yeti hopper.
Location is great, just a short drive to Esperanza with several restaurant options which have something for everyone and are delicious. The green store was a daily stop and dare I say their craft been selection is world class (bourbon barrel aged, neipa, dipa, you name it).
The huge mango tree provided a great producer of fruits to feed the roaming horses. Beach hopping was our daily routine and found multiple very enjoyable experiences. We used the beach chairs from the utility room, it may be time for some new ones. Either way we were grateful to have them. This was one of best experiences ever, hope to return sooner than later.
Views were incredible, property was great with beautiful landscaping. Bedroom with air condition big was awesome, no issues. Nice location near black sand beach. Outdoor showers were fun and clean but lots of iguanas daily that we had to toss out. I could see some people being nervous about it but we got used to it and they were harmless. Beautiful property and pool, thanks for sharing!
Quinta Jabali did not disappoint. The views of Playa Grande. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The sweet nightly songs of the Coqui frogs. All the wild horses and chickens. The cool sea breeze. The outdoor living space and lush garden. The incredible sunrises, sunsets and star gazing. Quinta Jabali has it all. This place is truly special.
We are blessed to have had the opportunity to stay at this island home. The views are breathtaking. Words simply can not describe our experience. We did not venture away from the home often as we had originally planned because we had everything we were looking for….. nature, beautiful views, a pool and the warm sun.
Thank you Michael for letting us enjoy your beautiful island home.
Quinta Jabil is a gorgeous secluded rental. The grounds are gorgeous and gated! You can not beat the view and the lovely swimming pool to cool off everyday. It's nice to have morning coffee on the lower deck and star gazing on the upper deck. You feel as if you are royalty in a town that is somewhat small island beachy vibe. If you like relaxing quite and no TV, this place is for you!
Unbelievable views, just as advertised and more, if you want a place to get away from it all this is it. Peaceful relaxing time in pool with amazing views, great romantic getaway, loved seeing horses and very close to Esperanza and black sand beach! Fantastic vacation, thank you!
The property was everything as advertised. Private, well maintained, well appointed and gorgeous. Waking up everyday to a majestic view and a dip in the pool before a day spent at the beach...we didn't want to leave. Can't say enough nice things about this experience.
We happily spent most of our week on this spectacular, beautifully appointed and maintained property. The island outside the gate was wonderful but the serenity & privacy at the house was what we really wanted.
Very close to Esperanza for dining & grocery needs,
The owner and Joey the caretaker were super to deal with, friendly & knowledgeable about the island.
My favorite part of the trip
may have been the "tiny plane" (12 seats!) We flew to get to paradise!
We're all ready planning our return...
In the words of my wife, “This is the happiest and most peaceful I have EVER been!” That pretty much says it all. The communication and tips the owner gave me was most helpful for our stay and getting there. Joey was awesome with telling us about the best places and how to get around the island. I don’t make much money working at a high school, but saving up for this was MORE than worth it! Like many other reviewers said we barely left the place. It definitely was the best vacation ever!!!
Fromm when you 1st drive through the gates and up the driveway, you will be in love with this property. the outside landscaping is incredible. Once you park you'll be amazed at the plantings & views from the rooftop garden. All of the stress of 12 hours on planes & missed connections melted away. The house itself is exactly as shown in the pictures. Very clean & well appointed with much of what you'll need for your stay. Make sure to take stock before you go out shopping. Joey, the property manager, was very helpful filling us in on locations of the best beaches, restaurants, grocery stores & where you can get a 32 oz Mojito (Robin's). But......With the view from the terrace & that beautiful pool we found ourselves spending most of the time on the terrace gazing out at the ocean.
Words cannot express the details put j to this property. Waking up to the view, landscaping, horses, ocean, etc was breathtaking. I’m very indecisive but I had to pay myself on the back with this one. Loved every minute of it and hope to return in the near future.
The property is fabulous. It has gorgeous landscaping and the most breathtaking views of southern Vieques. We had a tremendous time!!!. Perfect getaway retreat for couples looking for a relaxing experience. Highly recommended.
This was our fifth trip to Vieques, and by far the best of the five. A lot of that has to do with staying at Quinta Jabali. The location of the house is perfect, not far from Esperanza, and up on a hillside with sweeping views. The pictures and description are quite accurate.
Check-in was a breeze, with the property manager meeting us when we picked up our Jeep, and then leading us to the property. The house itself is well equipped for a relaxing stay, whether for a week, a month, or even longer. Both the property manager and the owner checked in with us via text and email to make sure we were OK, and once assured we were, were available if we needed them (which we didn't).
We were sad to leave Vieques, and Quinta Jabali, but are already looking forward to our next visit to this beautiful home on this beautiful island!

Spectacular views and very peaceful (most of the time)
Quinta Jabali was our 3rd trip to a Caribbean villa with indoor/outdoor living. We stayed for 24 nights. The views are spectacular and the landscaping fantastic. The ability to watch sunrises and sunsets, as well as boats and clouds drift by all day from the covered terrace, is really special. We really enjoyed the pool and the ability to find shady seating any time of day. Much of our time was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Unfortunately there were times where the surrounding neighborhood was not so peaceful. We were also a little disappointed that the villa seemed to be a bit “rough” in places.
About 80% of the time the setting was extremely peaceful and we often spent time watching clouds go by. You can hear neighboring roosters crowing in the distance all day long, but it’s at a distance and we grew used to it. The worst disruption was a neighbor who left a constantly barking Yorkie tied up outside for two days, which was so disruptive we considered ending our stay. Landscapers also showed up on two days for mowing/blowing without any notice. Once from 8am-noon and the other time was at lunch on Christmas Day - which was a very windy day and the blowing debris drove us inside. Other occasional noises we experienced include gunfire from a nearby rifle range, a neighborhood ATV racing up & down the road and a loud car stereo playing from a neighboring house for up to an hour at a time.
The terrace area is where we spent most of our time, and it’s wonderful. The indoor areas can be a bit rough in places. The lighting is dim and task lighting in the kitchen and master vanity are poor. We replaced two burned out light bulbs which helped a little, but one living room light and bathroom fan didn’t work at all. Other minor items were colliding storage drawers, worn sofa/chairs and a jumble of kitchen containers and utensils.
A final mention on creatures you may come across, some of which should be expected with an indoor/outdoor living arrangement: mosquitos on less windy days, loud night time crickets, and a few roaches and large tarantula spiders in living areas.
Overall the views and setting are spectacular and we really enjoyed the hours we spent peacefully enjoying the views and landscaping. However, there were some disruptions and annoyances that need to be mentioned for anyone considering a stay. For some people these won’t be a problem and they’ll absolutely love the place. For others, they might be more of an issue.
It it truly beautiful. When I got out of the Jeep on the first afternoon, I was stunned - the view is exactly like that in the picture. If you are looking to disconnect and remember what it's like to just be, and completely relax, this is the place to do it. In the morning we would go out and lounge by the pool and watch the sun come up off to the east, and after a day of snorkeling and enjoying the beaches, we would swim and float in the pool, looking out to the ocean. The interior living spaces were comfortable, but to be honest, except when we were sleeping, we spent all of our time by the pool, relaxing and soaking up the view. Coming home after dinner, in the dark, the sky was wide open on the upper terrace, and the star gazing unbelievable.
Joey, the property manger, was wonderful. When we arrived he went over everything, including going over a map of the island. After asking what we liked, he marked restaurants, places that had breakfast items, convenience markets, the bigger grocery store, and gas stations - all valuable if you want to spend more time relaxing and less time staring at a screen to find things.
The location was perfect as well - not far from Esperanza, but far enough that you would only hear the occasional car passing on the road below.
We really look forward to coming back!
We have found our special place. We will be back! The host is very responsive, the property is clean, the views are gorgeous, and the only thing we had a tough time with was leaving.
This property is amazing. It has the best views on the island and we loved relaxing in the pool and watching the waves from the ocean. If you are looking for a perfect place for a couple, this is it. We absolutely love Vieques and can't wait to come back. We will definitely stay here again.
This place is amazing. The property is gorgeous, the views are INCREDIBLE, the pool is delightful. Quinta Jabali is one of the most serene and breathtaking places I have ever stayed. If I had any complaint, it's that the layout of the house is a little strange. The bedroom and the kitchen/living area aren't connected-- they are both accessed independently from the pool/veranda area. We really didn't spend any time in the living room-- the veranda was just too comfortable and beautiful to stay away from for long. The bed in the master was very comfortable and the air conditioning in the room made sleeping quite pleasant. Again, I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. It was incredible.

About the host
Your host
Hi! We're Michael and Ronald - owners of Quinta Jabali. We live primarily in Dallas, Texas, but we have homes around the world. Vieques is our favorite spot because of the incredible beaches, wonderful weather and laid-back vibe of the island. While in Vieques, we're usually paddle boarding off Punta Arenas or sipping a Medalla (Puerto Rican beer) on a deserted beach. We've been blessed with all our island friends and we're excited to allow others to experience the wonders of Quinta Jabali.
Why they chose this property
We brought this undeveloped hillside 2 acre plot in Vieques in 2003 and began the process of selecting an architect to design our Caribbean dream home. When we first looked at the land, there was nothing around us - no houses, no buildings, no nothing! One day, while walking down the hill, an enormous wild boar (about the size of a VW Beetle!) came charging after us. Fortunately, we escaped. And, we had just found the name for our property - - Quinta Jabali -- "Country house of the wild boar." After 6 years of design and construction, Quinta Jabali was completed in 2009. It has incredible views of the Caribbean and the whole south side of Vieques. It is only 1 mile from Playa Grande and Playa Negra. It's also close to the main tourist village of Esperanza. Sadly, the wild boar is no longer with us. We're sure someone had a great pig roast!
