The CubHouse is perfect for a couple’s getaway. Just a 5min drive to downtown Woodstock. The house is a beautiful restoration but still keeps its original charm. Great to cozy up next to the fireplace in the winter. The side screened porch makes us want to come back in the warmer weather. Alison is a wonderful and accommodating host, thank you!!!
We had the most magical experience at the Cub House. The house was perfect for myself and my partner. The fireplace made the house cozy for our winter getaway. It is so close to the cute towns of Bearsville and Woodstock, which has an assortment of wonderful restaurants and venues, though we decided to take advantage of the intimate setting and stay at home. We will definitely be coming back in the warmer months so that we can take advantage of the screened in porch.
My husband and I stayed at the clubhouse for a cozy winter weekend getaway and it was perfect! The house was adorable and so well decorated. It had a beautiful fireplace which we used multiple times, was very clean and had a comfortable bed and gigantic bedroom upstairs. The bathroom seems to have been renovated recently as well. The driveway was a bit steep and we had some ice from a storm, but the owners were very prepared and responsive and salt in a shed in the driveway. Would definitely come back in the summer to use their awesome screened in porch! The house is down the road from Woodstock and all it has to offer, a perfect location!
The property was better than we had expected, and we were expecting something very nice. It is so embracing and comfortable that any work stress or fatigue that you may have had on arrival is gone once you step inside. We have stayed in rentals from Maine to Venice, Italy and this was arguably the nicest and we will return. A fire in the stone fireplace tops off the perfection and warmth of the tasteful Arts and Crafts furnishing. Alison has smartly listed points of interest and restaurants in the area on a large green chalkboard as you enter the kitchen. And the Woodstock area is what it is, wonderful and a place that we all look forward to visiting. If this cabin, and it is more than a cabin, is available, don’t pass it up. We usually keep quiet about places that we really like, but we just had to open up about this one.
Overall excellent and wonderful property. Alison let us know that although the water had a mineral odor it was safe to drink. I noticed no issue except the toilet had an odor. Plenty of utensils to cook with. There is a grill outdoors. There is a fire place as well. The outdoor screened in area was wonderful to sit out in. This home is very close to Woodstock. We loved it. It also has a tea kettle which my wife loved as many places don’t have this.
The property was very convenient to lots of stuff in Bearsville and Woodstock, plus it was convenient to lots of destinations, making it the perfect basecamp!
This little cottage was lovely and quirky! Just what I needed for the artist retreat I took myself on over the long weekend. The home was clean with just about everything I needed (a toaster would have been nice, though). I would emphasize that the driveway is challenging to get up and you need to be an experienced driver to navigate it. Also, while I was there we experienced torrential rain, which washed out a portion of the bottom part of the drive, making it even more difficult to navigate. The rain also made the walk from the driveway to the cottage VERY challenging if you weren't wearing boots! It was a soggy traverse, so just make sure to wear waterproof boots if you are going with rain in the forecast. Otherwise, the woodsy setting is ideal for a getaway and I swear I saw faeries peeking out at me from between the moss and the ferns!
I came here with a friend of mine for the weekend. What a lovely little place. Tucked away on the side of a mountain with a wood burning stove. Just a 7 or 8 minute drive from Woodstock and close to a lot of great trails.
