Kitchen also includes convection oven and stove top, microwave, coffee maker, tea pots and all the items for your cooking needs. Air conditioning in summer. Plympton is a very historic town, quiet and quaint town yet conveniently located. It is full of horse farms, cranberry bogs and road side farm stands. Quintessential New England Thanksgiving

We rented the Black Walnut House to host extended family for Thanksgiving dinner, and the house was the perfect setting. It has a big, open kitchen where cooks had room to prepare dinner and family could mill about, cozy sitting rooms for conversation, and an enormous, window-filled dining room with a sculptural table capable of seating up to 14 people (we had 13). The beds and bedding are cozy and comfortable, and we had 9 people stay comfortably. The next day we took a lovely walk in the Cato's Ridge Conservation Area nearby, as recommended by the owners.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

We made reservations last minute and were fortunate enough to have 2 nights at the Black Walnut House. What a beautiful place! We really wished we had one more day to stay and just hang out at the house. The mornings were so beautiful sitting outide and drinking coffee. Not an overly comfy situation/layout for watching a movie but the downstairs living room was great for a family game night with our adult children! The Black Walnut Tree in the frontyard is a photo op.for sure!!! I would definitely go back!!!

Love this property, old historical home completely refurbished.

Mu family was very comfortable and had an amazing time spending Thanksgiving. Very clean, cable was fine, plenty of hot water and comfortable bedding. Location was 18 minutes to downtown Plymouth, which was fine for us. Highly recommend this property.

Amazing house!

House is beautiful! There was plenty of room for all of my family and we loved using the oversized dining area for a game night. Host was fast to respond to any concerns. Hope to be able to visit this amazing home again!

Unfortunate experience

While the home is beautiful and was advertised correctly as it related to size there were a few issues that lead to a less than positive experience. First, the description clearly states the house has air conditioning. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but for our group this was critical in the selection process for our weekend stay. The riders endured 90 miles in 90+ degree heat and could not physically cool down inside of the home. The kitchen AC unit is not adequate to cool an entire floor (even with all of the windows/doors shut), the other AC unit in the bedroom provides only 1 cool room for the entire house. And the AC unit upstairs kept shutting off due to an electrical issue which I will address. Readings from the kitchen Saturday night at 9:30 pm read 81 degrees and the loft read 88 degrees! If you plan to advertise your home to guests as being climate controlled then you need to drastically improve what is currently being offered. As a result of the discomfort related to the heat 8 guests left that night and had to stay in hotels/drive hours home. Second, the electrical system kept shutting off all night. As a result of the electrical inconsistencies the ac unit in the loft kept going off, which exacerbated the heat situation. Not to mention the WIFI kept resetting and those without service had no way of contacting anyone. Again, I understand that certain things are out of your control (i.e. heat may have put pressure on the electrical grid), but it is difficult to enjoy your stay when you have to get up from dinner every 5 minutes to avoid eating in the dark - let alone host guests. When I tried working with the host I received very strange excuses and unprofessionalism. I am very disappointed and would not recommend renting this again.

Wonderful house for a group

This house was perfect for a girls getaway weekend. Close to Plymouth. Stayed cool in July with the AC units provided. Beds were comfy. The kitchen and sunroom space are beautiful and the kitchen was very functional!

Very unique and historic home!

This is a beautiful and very interesting home! The history behind this home is amazing and it was fun to dig into the stories as well as all the items and trinkets within the home. We weren't there long enough to explore the large property, but is was a beautiful area and well kept. Just as in other reviews, you are staying in a very old home so don't expect many modern conveniences although they have done a good job in making it as comfortable as possible, while remaining true to its history. The bugs in the Summer are quite flourishing so be careful not to leave doors or windows open as they will love to come in and stay with you. Fun place, thank you!

Nice Visit to Plympton

Beautiful house and is exactly as portrayed on VRBO site. We were two families with adult children attending a wedding in Bridgewater. We enjoyed a morning outing at Plymouth which is 15 minutes away. Very clean and beds were comfortable. If we were to stay here again we would bring chairs to sit on the back patio area as it was a beautiful weekend.

Going back in time

This home was a historical beauty. We felt like we were going back in time each time we walked through the door. The home is beautifully decorated with antiques but had all the modern conveniences you would expect to enjoy. Jennifer was super easy to contact and always replied quickly. We had a nice stay!

An excellent get-away!

Generally, this house was a comfortable, excellent location for us to spent a weekend. We were six adult men and found that it was a place large enough for people to have space, but also to enjoy the woods, to enjoy dinners and conversation together, etc. I recommend it highly! And Jen was very good with communication and anything we needed.

Wonderful

The home was beautiful and the space was larger than we expected. Immaculately clean as well. The grounds were great and the baby goats next door were a hit for the kids. Jennifer was a gracious host and was quick to respond to our questions.

Weekend stay

Honestly this house was adorable and at first working with the home owner was amazing. During our time there we felt like we were being watched. A camera was overlooking the driveway and I would get text messages from the owner. If I did not respond back fast enough she would inform me she would come over and fix the camera herself (bc it was accidentally unplugged). Once the camera was plugged back in the owner then came into the house unannounced and then repeatedly drove by the house to check on us after asking us to move a car. The house was great, but if you want privacy or to have a small gathering there I would not suggest this house. Also the owner was informed of what event was going on in this house before even booking, was completely okay with it and then made it seem like we were doing something wrong the day of the event. Nothing was hidden from the owner and everything was explained prior to renting.

A Comfortable Stay for the Mobility Challenged and Everyone Else

We stayed here during a weekend trip to help celebrate our mother’s 90th birthday. Also, one of our party is a wheelchair user. So, the property needed to be fairly accessible. The owner informed us of the stairs which led to the main living level. Our mother was able to maneuver those fine. But we found it easier to bring the wheelchair up the side path and in through the back door. The roll-in shower and low level bed in one of the bedrooms worked out great for my sister (wheelchair user). The house is very lovely. Lots of character and charm. We were very comfortable there and would certainly stay there again.

Tastefully renovated and beautiful antiques.

Beautiful antique home with modern conveniences. Good location. Very comfortable for two families. Downstairs bedroom should go to the toughest of your party, as it might be a little colder downstairs in the winter, but it is a comfortable house throughout and it was well worth the reasonable price we paid, less expensive than many other homes in the area, particularly the beach houses of similar size (if you can even find one this big). This place is worth the visit even if you hardly leave the house.

Beautiful period home with lots care in every corner

The Walnut grove house is stunning. Beautifully restored, great charm and fully equipped. Lots of space to spread out and be together: perfect for a 10 day family vacation. The only inconvenience was no washer and dryer. When traveling with kids especially in the hot summer having the ability to wash clothes on site would have made it perfect.

If you love the charm of older homes, you must stay here!

We recently rented Jennifer's house for a two night stay for a group of 8 and it worked out perfectly! The kitchen was well equipped (a larger stock pot for cooking pasta would be a nice addition), clean and spacious. Bathrooms were nicely updated and the beds were very comfortable. The feature that everyone loved was the dining room table...what a great room!! Overall, the house was spotless & suited our needs to a tee. Jennifer was great to deal with & provided all of the information we needed ahead of time. I would absolutely rent this house again. Thanks Jennifer!!
