About this property

3 seasons of adventures on Indian Lake/Sunset View Resort/Cabin #5

Located on the southern shore of beautiful Indian Lake, Unit #5 is only steps away from the shared beachfront of Sunset View resort. Originally founded in the late 30's with traditional log cabins for summertime get-a-ways. Cabin 5 is one of the 3 remaining originals.

Our property amenities include a common beach area, dock (day only), fire pits and grill area. Easily accommodates groups of 6 with its open space kitchen/dining/living area, two bedrooms and 1 & 1/2 bathrooms. You will appreciate the large deck with a swing and outdoor dining table . Swim, boat, hike, canoe, kayak or just relax by the campfire taking in a sunset or starry night sky. Fish from your boat or shanty for northern pike, walleye, and perch and more. Enjoy easy access public boat launch (1.5miles) and miles of groomed trails for ATVing, snowmobiling and cross-country/snowshoeing trails.

Location, Location, Location!
Our location (center of the UP) is one of our key features because of the variety of day-trip attractions within 1.5 hr drive from us. We are 10 minutes from lake Michigan and 45 minutes from lake Superior! That alone is pretty Great ;)

Main attractions such as, the Big Spring aka Kitch-iti-kipi, Lake Michigan beaches, Lake Superior beaches, Pictured Rocks National park, Grand Island, Fayette State Park, Presque Isle Park/Marquette, Black Rocks, Seney wildlife refuge, Mackinaw Island, Mackinaw City and the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge to name a few.
Also enjoy discovering the many waterfalls and lighthouses scattered throughout the Upper Peninsula.

Speaking of day adventures, we are only four miles north of Downtown Manistique, a charming town that sits on the picturesque shoreline of Lake Michigan and the Manistique river. Wide open sandy beaches, and our two mile boardwalk trail are local and visitor favorites. Eat, shop, game at the local casino or enjoy a round of golf at beautiful Indian Lake golf course.

What are you waiting for? Come and discover the many adventures!

Great Cabin on Indian Lake

My family had a wonderful stay at this cabin in August 2024. The cabin was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. My kids loved swimming in Indian Lake and we all enjoyed watching the sunset from the campfire.

Cabin at the Lake

The cabin was all we had hoped for and more. The only thing that would have improved our stay would to have been on the lake. We had a lake view but not right at the lake.

Manistique Vacation

My family and our 2 dogs stayed at this cabin in June 2024. The cabin was clean and well supplied. The sunset view was amazing. Indian Lake State Park is very close and we used this area to take the dogs for walks on a paved trail there. Some activities we enjoyed were visiting Seney Wildlife Park, Kitchitikipi, golfing, Fayette Historical Park and lighthouses. Indian Lake was very quiet when we were there which was Monday to Friday. Kathy was a wonderful owner to work with for our visit to the Upper Peninsula. She had lots of suggestions for activities and checked to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We visited Clyde’s Drive Inn, Tap 21 while in town. We bought souvenirs from the Made In Michigan store. The grocery store, Jacks Fresh Market, had a great selection of fresh deli items for convenient food and also had a great variety of Michigan beers to try. Overall this was a great stay. Be sure to bring bug spray and sweatshirts in order to enjoy the outdoors.

Comfort, Quiet and Perfect

Overall, this property was just what we were hoping. We will be back for sure. The home/cabin itself is very charming and homey. It is clean and comfortable, providing plenty of room for a family with the two bath rooms and the family room and kitchen to spread out. It is full of everything you'd associate with the UP and has tons of character. We are normally picky about accommodations and so this was a treat. The grounds are great. It is on a property comprised of several other homes but has room to roam. The views cannot be beat, especially the amazing sunsets over the lake and the forest beyond. It is very well manicured and has a cute beach and shallow swimming area with our kids really enjoyed. Photo ops and firepits included. And Finally, the hosts are amazing. We had the pleasure of meeting the family and getting some great recommendations about the surrounding areas and "must-sees". They are truly one of the best assets associated with the property and they don't even show up in the listing. We will be back up to #5 for a few more sunset drinks with them!

We arrived in 2020 from Naperville Il, and began renovating units #4 &5 as we started a new chapter in our lives. This was a chance to leave the hustle and bustle and try something new, with the perk of living in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Sharing what we have found, with those who like adventure and need a good get-a-way into the woods, is now our purpose.

Why they chose this property

We stumbled upon the opportunity. It was love at first sight :)

What makes this property unique

What makes our property unique is several things. 1) it's vintage "log cabin land" from the 30's. Not many place like this left. Located on a small bay/point of its own, on a beautiful sandy bottom lake. 2) Our location being 10 minutes from Lake Michigan, and 45 minutes from Lake Superior is also special. 3) Day trips from here allow for great outdoor adventures!
