Perfect Location

Great property with perfect location to everything around San Diego. The walking distance to hill crest including 5 minutes to Trader Joe’s was essential. A little bit tricky with having two under 2 because the unit is so tall and not too much open space, but we were able to tire them out going up and down the stairs. Great place to recharge but would probably stick more for a guys/girls/couples weekend than family stay. Michael was great in communicating every step of the way too.

Beautiful property!

We visited San Diego to take my son to the son. It was less than 2 miles away and within walking distance to many grocery stores and restaurants. The kitchen included just about everything we needed for cooking and the toilet seats were a very nice touch. Highly recommend if you’re ever looking to visit the SD area

Concert get-away

Brought the family out to attend a concert one night, and just get away for a few days. Loved walking over the bridge to breakfast & dinners! Home felt a little tight at times, but worked out great for us!

Great stay!

Stayed at the house with husband and 2 of our children (14 and 22). Small spaces but perfectly laid out for everyone to have some privacy. Loved being able to walk so many places!

Great location

Great location - easy walking distance to University Heights for dinning/groceries and other necessities. If you are driving, easy highway access to get anywhere in the city. The 3 story house was nice - good A/C, shower pressure, and up to date with the technology on the appliances. The 3 of us enjoyed our space and had a good trip.

Great jumping off point to see the sights of San Diego.

What a great place to stay if you need a central location to see all that San Diego has to offer. This location is right next to the highway and was such easy access to get anywhere we needed to be quickly. As some reviews suggest, there is highway noise if you sit out on the porch, but it personally did not bother us city folks. The traffic was just a reminder we were in the center of all the fun activities near by. My son and I really enjoyed the creative use of space this house utilizes tucked away on a small side street. Parking is tight and may not be what some people are used to but the owner had great diagrams to explain how to do it and it just adds to that sense of adventure. One great aspect of staying there is the bridge at the end of the street that leads to groceries and restaurants. We got groceries anytime we needed and had brief nice walk to get there. Our vacation style this trip was to get up in the morning and go to as much as possible in a day. So, it was enjoyable to return each evening to a nice, clean and safe home to rest and get ready for the next day's fun.

Summer trip

The property we stayed at it was very nice had air condition. Nice and cool and it was very Centrally located from all the stuff that we wanted to do. We went to a Padres game, which was only 15 minutes away. Then we went to SeaWorld which was another 12 minutes away. Then we also went to little Italy which was also about a 12 minute drive, we weren’t able to make it to the zoo but the zoo was only about 15 minutes away so we really like staying there. Also the bridge that we were able to walk across from the property had the grocery stores and places to eat with about a 4 to 5 minute walk. We really had a great time and we would stay there again like I said, it was very convenient in the location of all the stuff we wanted to do and the place was very clean. and also that the washer and dryer were great.

Great Stay!

This house is wonderful!! Not only does it have the most up to date appliances and furnishings but it is in walking distance to shopping, restaurants and just about anything else you could want. My husband and I loved our stay for our son’s wedding and my birthday!! It is in the best location for everything from the zoo to the beach! If we ever get back to San Diego we will definitely book here again. The owner Michael was great at responding to any questions or concerns we had also. Thanks again for your hospitality and your service to our country! Kelly B. from Texas (Proud Navy Family)

Lovely stay!

I cannot express enough how much I loved staying in this hidden gem hosted by Michael. Communication was great and Michael answered all of our questions in a matter of minutes each time. The home is perfect for any couple or family. The beds were comfortable, plenty of supplies to cook and clean with, loved the patios/balconies to take in fresh air, loved having a full sized washer and dryer to clean clothing prior to going home. Location is close to all shopping areas and amazing food! This place is just as it is in the photos! I cannot wait to come back next month during my birthday staycation I take every year with my husband. Thank you Michael for the amazing stay! 10 stars ✨

Nice place

Overall it was a nice house. Updated decor and a very convenient location. House was clean and had most available amenities. The high tech features are ok, but dimmer switches are need in common areas. The bathrooms need to have the motion sensors removed and the toilets adjusted so they don't open every time you walk in. Also, please fix the parking on the side...the bricks and dirt are a mess and hard on tires. Overall worth it though.

Very great place to stay. The location was amazing. It’s walking distance to numerous restaurants and stores. It is also very close to MCRD San Diego if you have a Marine graduating recruit training. Michael was very responsive to any needs. He went out last minute and put an iron and ironing board in the place at my request! It would have been a 5 across the board but the parking was tough. To be fair I had a very large vehicle which made it difficult. If you are staying here I recommend a small vehicle. I had a giant Jeep Wagoneer and had to back down the alleyway to the parking spot because there was not enough room for me to turn it around. Don’t let that deter you though all said and done it was fantastic!

NOT for families

I will start with the positives: the house was clean (which is an huge plus) and the owner was kind and responsive. If you are a single traveler or traveling with one additional person and don’t plan to drive anywhere then this would be a fine place to stay. The price is definitely right for that. But if you are traveling with more than one person (especially kids) or planning to drive anywhere, this is not the place for you. Size: The photos/ online descriptions make it appear much more livable than it actually is. The house is very small. We had two adults and four children. Although it’s advertised to sleep 8, I wouldn’t take more than two people (one person per bed). There is ZERO living space. NO kitchen counters or closets. The kitchen table seats two. The beds are small-my husband and I each took a bed and had one child sleep with each of us. There are two very lumpy and uncomfortable futons—one in the kitchen and one in “the office.” That is a very misleading term as there is a small futon couch in the entry. I guess the small table next to it makes the space an “office?” Location: it’s technically “close to everything” if you don’t try to drive. It took us 30 minutes to get to get anywhere because of traffic. It’s right off the freeway and at the end of a (not charming) dirt road. If you are a single traveler looking for a well priced, clean, very small place where you don’t plan to do anything but sleep this is fine. Otherwise, keep looking.

Hidden, for sure

I give the host Michael 5 stars for responsiveness, communication, the house’s cleanliness. However, the property is a 3, for lack of essentials and personal preferences in a rental. The overall space is really cramped for a family of 4. The outside porches should add living space but it’s right above a busy highway and way too loud to enjoy or open windows. - Upstairs AC remote missing - used 2nd floor AC remote (holder is broken on wall) - 6 pillows for whole house (4 beds) - Extra sheets locked in the storage - 3 Pots and pans are cheap and worn - 4 towels available for 4 adults for 6 days - only sheer curtains and no window shades - constant bright light and lacks privacy. We hung personal items to try to block the light - Gas fire pit had no propane - told us to buy it and take it when we leave - 2 dining chairs for 4 adults - There is no door on the upstairs bedroom, open to the floor below, offers little privacy - Had to contact the owner multiple times - AC units would not come back on, we didn’t know where the keys were, sheets missing - 2 sets of steep stairs, so with small kids you’ll need gates - Bathrooms are very tight with very little storage. - motion sensor lights could not be turned off and bath fan would not come on - great central location but the setting is not attractive. House entrance is in an ugly alley - parking is limited and difficult I recommend this only to a business traveler or a couple not concerned with amenities.
