Disappointing stay, cleanliness problems, disingenuous property management

It was a quite disappointing trip, and we were pretty dissatisfied with the accommodations, which is why we left a day early. Some of the items that we were disappointed with: 1)The cabin wasn’t particularly tidy or clean--I found multiple cobwebs on doorframes and in windows, the coffee pot had mold growing in the water reservoir, there was a distinct funky odor in the basement, empty beer cans were littered over the pontoon boat 2)The listing stated a dishwasher was available...I did not see one on site 3) I felt a little bit deceived by your listing noting kayaking and paddleboarding, expecting to have provisions for these activities available on site. I went back and re-read your listing, and I suppose it could be read either way, but it certainly wasn’t clear 4) The biggest disappointment was the inability to swim on site. The lake was so weedy I couldn’t even pull a crankbait through it without getting hung up every cast. I went back and looked at the listing, and it specifically noted “taking a dip in the lake from the private dock”. I suppose it’s technically possible, but it wasn’t appealing. One saving grace of all the weeds was that there were plenty of small panfish. Following up with the property manager also did little, as the listing description has not been updated, and I was told that the weedy area is due to "dynamic characteristics of WI lakes". Given the above, I cannot recommend either this cabin, nor any Courtney Brunner managed site.

peaceful

The cabin is very clean and communication with the host was easy and timely. It was a very peaceful experience and we enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast on the deck. As golfers, it was nice to have the Spooner course so close and several others in the area to choose from. The proximity to town is nice as well. As noted by others, the lake is weedy off of the dock.

Northwood Vacation

We had a wonderful time at this property. The only thing that I would complain about, was the lake was weedy, making hard to fish. Obviously, this is beyond anyone's control. All-in-all, we had a great vacation!

Great lake house

Great house on the lake. Lake has plenty of fish and fun. Surprised how little boat traffic there was on the lake. House is clean and comfortable for 6 people no problem.

Good potential, lovely view.

Beautiful view of Spooner Lake. After some initial miscommunications and misrepresentations of the property, we had an enjoyable stay at the property (I give Mark, the property manager credit for fixing the issues that he was able to fix-he brought a propane tank, outdoor towels, and other supplies that were not initially at the house. Also facilitated a washing machine repair with minimal interruption to our trip). The cabin worked well for what we needed it for. The linens and towels were new and the house was in good condition. Please know that the neighbors do not quite follow the same 'quiet enjoyment' of the property as you will be expected to do. They use the boat dock on the property for one of their boats and there is lots of lovely conversation that you will be able to hear them have if you are outside.
