About this property

Smoky Mtn Cabin w/Stunning views! Private ensuite bath for every room!

Escape to a moment in time in the N. Carolina Smoky Mountains! Relax in this open, spacious, and secluded cabin! Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own Ensuite bathroom.

• 2000+ sf of high-end finishes and furnishings
• 800 sf of outdoor deck dining and relaxing by the fireplace
• 9' pool table
• 10 min to historic Sylva and Dillsboro with all of its famous shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries
• 25 min to Cherokee Casino
• One hr to shopping in Asheville or to Gatlinburg TN attractions

THE SPACE:
We chose "1789" to commemorate the year North Carolina became a State. The cabin has that rustic, historic feeling to it with the "chinking" log home construction, yet comes with all the modern amenities so you feel at home.

The North Carolina side of the Great Smoky Mountains offers a more scenic and less touristy experience for families and friends to escape for some fresh mountain air, stunning mountain views, and an opportunity to relax and recharge. One of the things we love about this cabin is you get all of that wonderful nature, and yet you're just 9 minutes to some one-of-kind fantastic restaurants, and shopping.

We hope you'll love this cabin as much as we do!

Best Cabin Kitchen Ever

This place is amazing, one of the best places I have stayed and the cabin layout makes a lot of sense. Best appointed kitchen I have come across so far staying in the area every few months. Also best water out of a mountain property I have been to yet on VRBO, plenty of pressure and hot water. We will be trying to stay at this place more regularly

Awesome weekend with family. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this cabin. Clean, comfortable, great views and even a very tall Christmas tree that our two year old granddaughter loved!

Great stay

Had a great stay. Helpful to have a high chair and pack and play already at the cabin for our 2 under 2 staying. Large rooms and great communication with the hosts.

Another great stay

Stayed for a long summer weekend. This was a second visit since a stay earlier this summer and again the home and amenities were fantastic. Owners are extremely communicative, hospitable, and generous. Lots to love about the property and it’s comfortable surroundings and furnishings. Really can’t go wrong if you decide to stay at this property. Very comfortable, quiet, and relaxing, but close to anything you need to get to if needed.

Fall Getaway

The cabin was great, peaceful and relaxing and was truly out in the mountains, i really wish the video of the driveway had been on the site instead of being sent after rental, if you have a low or small car contact for video before renting, easy access for truck or 4 wheel drive, if you don't like daylight shining in your eyes take note of no window coverings, all else was perfect.

Amazing stay

My family and I stayed at the cabin for 3 days for a Christmas vacation.. It was absolutely gorgeous -- luxury amenities with a rustic and authentic cabin aesthetic. Exactly what we were looking for. We ventured out daily to explore the quaint towns and hiked various trails in the area. The cabin is secluded but also within 15 minutes of unique, family owned restaurants. We grilled steaks Sunday afternoon at the cabin - the kitchen is fully stocked and completely functional. Greg and Momoko are exceptional hosts - every detail was covered and they went above and beyond by providing a guidebook which oriented us to the area. I can't recommend this cabin, Greg, and Momoko more highly. Stay here -- you will not be disappointed!

Fabulous!

Our family of 6 loved this cozy cabin! It was perfectly clean, well organized for cooking, and the lay out was great for our family. We loved spending time on the back porch, playing pool, and just relaxing in its calming comforts after our days of hiking, visiting Biltmore, and rafting. The hosts were so helpful and hospitable! We would most definitely stay here again! The only heads-up we would give to others: the drive up to the house is steep! We don't have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, so we skidded a couple of times trying to make those steep switchbacks....the host provided a very helpful video to prepare us for that steep climb.

A Five Star Stay

I must admit I was reluctant to leave a review because I don’t want the word to get out about this property. But being a rental owner myself I know how important these are. Everything about this property is excellent and as advertised. The cabin is beautiful and rustic, and afforded a very comfortable stay. The owners are incredibly communicative and also have thought wisely about the properties amenities, supplies, and instructions. A simple example of this would be that almost every light switch is labeled, lessening the frustration one gets when having to learn an unfamiliar property’s logistics. Just one example but it’s illustrative of the owners attention to detail. Location is good, just a few minutes from Sylva and Dilsboro. Easy access to the main traffic routes but far enough off the path to feel remote. We have stayed in a lot of Franklin, Sylva, Waynesville properties and this one is far better than 90% of those. We only had four (two adults two children but the cabin could accommodate another couple (three bedroom) comfortably. Great stay all the way around. You won’t be disappointed, but don’t go because we need to rent it a bit more this summer/fall. 😁

About the host

Hosted by Greg and Momoko

Host profile image
Greg is from the USA and Momoko is from Japan. We currently live in Florida, but we met and got married while we were both living and working in Singapore. We love traveling and have been to 40+ countries with many more still on our bucket list! These days, we tend to seek out the quiet beach, the serene mountain cabin, or the lazy lake house. We spend a lot of time as a family at 1789 House -- chatting around the fireplace, enjoying long dinners on the balcony with the fresh mountain air. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

The North Carolina Smokys are comprised of small mountain towns along the Great Smoky Mountains. Sylva (the Jackson County seat) has a vibrant culture with wonderful dining, coffee shops, antique stores, breweries, and more. Its proximity to WCU keeps the town active with a fun college-town vibe and a continuous calendar of family-oriented events. And yet, in just 9 minutes, you can be back to the serene and private mountain where 1789 House is located.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the authentic "chink" style wood cabin and the 2-story stone fireplace. The wood floors were all hand-scraped giving them a lot of character. And the ensuite bathrooms make it easy for three families or adult children to all have their own room and bathroom.
