A design gem in Mt Hood forests

This place probably is the best (mid century) designed rental I have ever been to. It is extremely cozy and nice. It is located by a river and close to some stores that have almost all you need. There are neighbors close by but you don't really see them. The place was pretty clean. There are three rooms and all were pretty nice to sleep in, each had their own fireplace. Having said that not sure how this place will stay warm during winter. The main area is warmed by a fireplace/stove. It is a very nice one but you will need to keep adding wood in order to keep the living/dinning area warm. Also it is a bit tricky to get it going and the wood need to be the correct size and should be dry. Kitchen equipment were pretty nice, all-clad cookware and plates, bowls and glasses were well thought and plenty. Water is hot but shower is a bit old and pressure is a bit low. Still gets the job done. There is limited reception (At&t), you have some reception and can make calls and texts, maybe even some data, but a few of my calls had some issues. Would definitely come back.

Great comfortable A-frame, with a few minor drawbacks

This is a great house right on the river. Well appointed, and wonderfully comfortable beds. While the kitchen lacked a few basic things (oil for cooking, sponges), the pots/pans/dishes/etc were all high quality. The kids stuff that comes with the house (books and toys, high chair, etc) was a huge plus for our family. Some of the drawbacks have been pointed out by other reviews. Wonderful deck overlooking the river...no porch furniture to sit on to enjoy it however which is just a shame. The placement of the firepit in what would otherwise be a circular driveway (which would make pulling in and out much easier) is also an odd choice. Also, the wood stove is currently not working, which we would have appreciated knowing in advance...takes a long time to heat the house with the small heaters. Overall a great, relaxing spot.

Outdated and in need of cleaning!!

It looks like someone did a quick Rico by painting the outside. Everything else inside was old and outdated it even had that old smell. The cabin is in need to cleaning there are spiderwebs all over and the floors were dirty. Limited outlets since it’s an older home. The upstairs staircase is built steep and wider apart making it accessible for some. This is also where the TV was located plus the shower. The fireplace had a sign saying it was not working and they left a sign above the thermostat recommend 60 degrees. It was very uncomfortable and when we ran it all the dust came out making the air stuffy that my spouse needed his inhaler. The location sits off the Sandy river but you can’t enjoy it on the patio as there’s no furniture but bench seats and it’s very dirty. Privacy not really as neighbors also closely sit near by. Parking was difficult if you have a truck as you have to reverse in around half of the round about as they set up a firepit around the other half. 4x4 needed during winter. Also a large tree fell across the road blocking access to the cabin. There’s no phone service so we had to get out and break branches to get the fallen tree out of the roadway. We are frequent cabin renters and this was probably one of the dirtiest.

"A" Comfy Stay

The "A" frame house was very comfy! We loved the sound of the Zig Zag River but we wished we had rocking chairs or some type of outdoor furniture to sit and enjoy nature! We were disappointed that the fireplace wasn't working. And you might want to flip the opening of the refrigerator door so it opens from the right side. We all slept really well and enjoyed lounging in the living room and loft. A shout out to "Fernie's Coffee"for getting us started each day! The location was perfect to get to the Dalles and The Fruit Loop! Everyone really loved their stay!

Great architecture but poorly maintained

Cleaning needs major improvement (didn't think this would be an issue given the high cleaning fees). There was a plate, a ball and dust bunnies under the couch, carpet was not vacuumed properly and hairs on chairs. But the beds, linens, towels were clean though. Living room is cold even with the fire on, and definitely need more lights (too dim at night). Had problem with the digital key during checkin because the instructions were incomplete. Paper products were low quality. Overall, the stay was good/average. Location was nice, on private, gated area, can walk to the river. Fire pit is by the road though.

Riverside Relaxing

The setting for this A Frame home is gorgeous. You can see the river from the home and a short walk brings you right onto the beach. Bring a camp chair, book and beverage and you'll enjoy a quiet afternoon in the woods.

Happy Couple

This spot is IDEAL for anyone wanting to be five minutes from the highway but feel like you're in the middle of the woods. The perfect quiet, truly enjoyable location. An easy walk (about 25 steps) to the stream you can see right out the back door, a well-equipped kitchen, easy-to-achieve check-out procedures, great communication, and in a gated community.

What a wonderful location!

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Everything was perfect minus no outside furniture. The river in the backyard created a wonderful setting for us to enjoy dinner and a glass of wine.

Serene mountain getaway.

Beautiful cabin conveniently located in the Mt.Hood area. Only 50 miles from Portland, but felt like we were far from the urban chaos. Near all the natural attractions in the area. Be sure to get breakfast-lunch at the Zig Zag cafe.

Great cabin!

Loved the A-frame, well situated close to town yet remote enough to feel like we were in the woods.

Dreamy mid century riverside stay

This beautiful A-frame exceeded all of my expectations, from arrival to checkout. Cabin is in a gated cabin community (this exists!) which provided a super safe feel. Walking in, I immediately noticed how much attention to detail and care went into the remodel and decor of the place. It was super clean, with awesome mid century furniture and all of the supplies we needed. Cool blankets, cool art, cool architecture, and a cool breeze coming in through the giant sliding glass door leading to the deck with a river view.. The sound of the rushing water sang us to sleep each night. 10/10 Highly recommend!

Perfect location

Cabin is right on the river in a quite neighborhood. No road noise can be heard when sitting on the patio enjoying the scenery. Kitchen is well stocked and the wifi is good.
