About this property

Charming Cabin Overlooking the Guadalupe River - Just steps to the river

If a chrome and glass condo atop a downtown hotel is what you are looking for, our place might not fit your needs.  However, if a cozy (but spacious), quaint (but with all the comforts of home) cabin on the river sounds more like what your family would enjoy, please consider our space.
From the large back deck you will walk down to your own private dock on the Guadalupe, where your family can enjoy swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, or just floating the day away under the shade of the cypress trees. Sitting on the deck or dock at sundown is a must, as you will want to watch the fireflies emerge and hear the frogs begin their evening songs!
Indoors, there is a roomy sectional sofa in the living room, and you’ll find jalousie windows in the sunroom/dining room that give you the feeling of being outdoors while you enjoy your meals or take  afternoon naps on the couches (one of which offers twin pull out beds).
Three bedrooms and bathrooms afford all the comforts of home.
1.) Located downstairs the Master bedroom contains a king bed, dresser, desk, and two upholstered chairs. The ensuite bathroom has a tub/shower combination and a roomy dressing area.
2.) The downstairs guest bedroom is furnished with 2 vintage maple twin beds, chest of drawers, and mirrored dressing table.
3.) The upstairs family room/bedroom has two queen beds plus a trundle bed with twin mattresses. The upstairs bathroom is a split design with a shower in one room and the toilet and sink in the other which are side by side. This very large room also includes a dresser and a game table for playing cards, games or working on a puzzle. All of the bedrooms have closets.

Other amenities include covered parking, covered front porch with seating, barbecue pit, washer and dryer, two refrigerators, two picnic tables on the deck, wrought iron deck furniture, pack and play with a mattress and sheets plus a foldable booster seat for our youngest guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full array of cooking and serving pieces as. well as 2 coffee makers. We do have a canoe, inner tubes, floats and life jackets for your use while you stay. Be sure to bring your fishing gear!

Conveniently located on the South Fork near Hunt, TX on Hwy 39. This location is near all of the popular Summer Camps in the area.

Day trips are a piece of cake - you might want to check out Lost Maples Natural Area (State Park)...it's an easy 30 mile drive out Hwy 39 to FM187.
Utopia, Garner State Park, the Frio River or Concan to the West; and Kerrville, Comfort and/or Fredericksburg for shopping / winery tours to the East. You can always hop on I-10 to San Antonio for Fiesta Texas / Sea World or shopping at La Cantera and more.

Don't miss the wildflowers in the spring or the changing of the leaves in the Fall! (refer to https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lost-maples/foliage-reports for up to date reports.)

Great Guadalupe River House

A big house with nice deck and porch. The stairs to second floor are steep so better for older children. Small kitchen. Two big bedrooms and baths downstairs and a bath upstairs and two queen beds in a big open room.

Camp closing

The property was classic river property on the South Fork in Hunt. While I felt the kitchen was challenging it worked for our group. There were so many living spaces and sleeping spaces and of course, just steps from the river. Perfect place for my family! Looking forward to renting it again next year. But as of now calendar not ready for 2025 bookings!

Weekend on the Guadalupe

Our stay at this house was outstanding. The house was perfect for our family. We love that stretch of the river. The kitchen is very small (which we were told). I will revamp my meals next time. We look forward to returning.

beautiful

The house was just as advertised. It was very spacious, inside and out. It had all the necessities and more! We felt right at home. The patio was super large and all the necessities for river use were supplied. The trees provided lots of shade. I would recommend this house to anyone.

Wedding/Relaxation

My family and I came to town for a wedding and chose to stay at the Guin House. Excellent location, had everything you could have wanted, and felt like walking into your great grandparents. We enjoyed our stay and the location. My only complaints are the house is in dire need of a deep clean. Dirt, leaves, sticks, and cobwebs were everywhere. Nails need to be tended to on the deck. Thin river shoes kids like to wear were not safe out there. Also, you’ll either have a really hot or really cold shower. No in between and definitely not 2 going at the same time. But for location, easy river access, and space to accommodate a group of 7. It was nice!

Walk away- it literally stinks like mold

For the first time ever when renting from VRBO, we walked away and refused to stay and had to find another house for the weekend. I was upset at the thought of my children and grandchildren staying there. We were shocked by how different this house looked from the photos. The house reeked of mold and mildew and I am allergic to mold. The carpets were dirty indoor-outdoor carpet that looked like it had been there since 1960. The furnishing, bedcovers and decorations were right out of 1960. I have never seen a kitchen as small as that one. I would NEVER recommend this house to anyone!!!
