About this property

Bright and airy two bedroom apt in downtown Bristol steps from the parade route.

Welcome to 283 Wood Street, #1, a first floor apartment with two bedrooms and one bath in a recently renovated 1880 house right in the downtown area. This bright and airy open-concept space has high ceilings, hardwood floors, and comfortable furnishings. You may enjoy the shared fenced-in yard with exclusive use of a cozy patio with table, chairs, and umbrella right outside your back door. Off-street parking is available for two cars.
This apartment is only two blocks from the July 4th Parade route and only a few hundred feet from the Town Common where there are tennis/pickleball courts, basketball courts, jungle gyms for kids, a beautiful gazebo and plenty of benches for just admiring the fresh open air and beautiful surroundings. You can take a very short walk to Bristol Harbor where you’ll find many restaurants, shops, the local library, banks, breakfast places, pubs, and parks as well as the ferry to Prudence Island. A short walk down Wood Street you’ll find several very interesting restaurants like Brick, Pivotal Brewing Company, Sakuratani, Common Pub, and our favorite, Pomodoro Italian Kitchen (just three doors away!). A short walk downtown brings you to antique shops, Linden Place Museum, the public library, Independence Park as well as several small parks, the harbor with many beautiful boats, and, during the summer months, the SeaStreak (fast) ferry to Newport and/or Providence.
It is only a short ride to Blithewold, an impressive mansion with astounding gardens and Colt State Park with its miles of walking and bike paths that take you through woods, waterfront, and beach. The East Bay Bike Path stretches for 17 miles from Bristol to Providence. Bike rentals are available very nearby. You can venture further to Newport or find plenty to do right in your own backyard. Everything from this location is easy to get to!
Due to allergies, we cannot accept cats.

Historic, spacious, beautifully appointed

Superb modern renovation of a gracious older home in the heart of Bristol combining an authentic Bristol experience with all of the best new conveniences you could hope for. To top it all off, Jayne could not have been a more congenial and supportive host. Highly recommended!

Two thumbs up!

Comfortable stay and great location. Easy walk to anything you’ll need and right near a park for the comfort of pets and the convenience of their walkers. Renters upstairs can be noisy coming and going, but they are very friendly.

I am a retired opera singer, now a part-time voice teacher. While I loved all my travelling, I'm now very happy to be at home with my husband and dogs, but I love to meet new people and hear about their travels and experiences. We are new at hosting in this manner, but having renovated and lived in this home for the last 6 years, we are very happy to now help others enjoy the bustling nature of Bristol, RI where you are close to all the wonderful things Bristol has to offer. We live close by and can help you with suggestions for things to do and, of course, help with any issues that may arise.

Why they chose this property

When we lived here, we enjoyed the walkability of the area. Whether strolling down High Street with our two dogs, walking to get a bagel or a nice meal, enjoying the breezes at the many waterfront parks, or getting ice cream and sitting on the docks, we loved being so close to everything.

What makes this property unique

This is an 1880 home that was completely renovated within the last 5 years. We opened up the downstairs apartment and it became bright and airy and very, very comfortable. The small fenced-in yard with a magnetic screen door made it ideal for our dogs to come in and go out as they please. The private patio is cozy and ideal for enjoying meals and/or drinks on warm summer days and nights. We think you'll enjoy the easy living here.
