Nice house for a family vacation

Our family of 5 with 3 college age kids stayed a week in Jim's house. The house has a good layout with enough room for eating, games, watching tv, etc. as well as a rooftop dining and sitting area. King beds were soft and comfortable with nice bedding. The twin mattress may be better for smaller kids (a little springy). Unfortunately the house was only supplied with one 5 gallon jug of drinking water when we arrived and getting the property manager to deliver more throughout the week was difficult. I have never had a Mexico house rental not supply enough drinking water. We ending up having to purchase several more jugs and carry them several blocks. We were able to but it would be difficult for some.

Great week, wish it was two

Had an amazing week of adventures with my family based out of Mike's spacious comfortable house perched above the Bay. Every room enjoys stunning views & the beach is just steep steps away. Kayaking, swimming/diving, JC's boat tour! The beach hotspring takes some fine tuning adjusting rocks with the high tide, but was great once we got it right. I especially enjoyed snorkeling around the islands & diving for shellfish Being off the grid you have to be willing to roll with some things. The water pressure isn't great for flushing, the energy supply is limited, Mulege lacks an ATM. Those sorts of minor inconveniences were easy for us to overlook as there is so many positives to enjoy. My suggestions are to get on an early to bed schedule to enjoy the spectacular sunrises with coffee in hand and to bring a headlamp in the likely case you burn through the power one evening.

Great location, poorly run.

Booked well ahead of time for a family reunion. Was told that the casita would be thrown in free of charge to accommodate our large party. A few days before arrival the owner inexplicably said he was going to charge $50 a night extra for the casita until I showed him proof that he already offered it for free. (The VRBO listing says 5 bedrooms, but that's only if you include the casita as well, which is misleading.) It turned out to be unseasonably warm for mid October, when I told him of my apprehension about the heat with no AC he just brushed it off and said take a shower before bed. On our second night the electricity ran out at 11:30 PM and we were stuck in a 90 plus degree house with no wind and no fans. It was unbearable and most of us got a second place down the road with air conditioning for the rest of our stay to avoid a medical emergency. When we told him the power went out, he, for the first time, let us know about the button to turn on the gas generator. Apparently he keeps the generator's existence a secret until after a near medical emergency. We managed to survive the week, but it was an ordeal. The owner should offer a refund for times when the weather is unbearably hot, and inform people about the generator before making them suffer with no electricity during a heat wave. I'm used to roughing it, and have stayed in many VRBO homes over the years, and this is the first time I've had a negative experience.

February in Mulege

This home has the most awesome views from every window. Everything is comfortable and welcoming. There is some wear on some things (kayak seat backs, patio furniture at beach). Be aware you need to communicate with the property managers before you get there when phone service available. When we arrived, the power was off and had trouble communicating with Manuel. Once we did this, all was well.

Not as advertised other than location

Location/private beach amazing! Listing states air conditioning/tv which were not available, internet/cell service very poor, did not receive information until arrived at property that electricity and water use very limited (2min showers every other day, water pressure in showers very poor and all toilet paper to be placed in trash). trash cans very dirty and without lids. Never heard from property manager during our entire stay. Owner stated I never sent him my email despite screen shotting him multiple messages where I sent it to him but on the day of arrival he was able to send the information, (much of which was not on or contradicted what was on VRBO listing). Only stayed 4 nights so we made it work but a longer stay would have been difficult given all the restrictions. Location and property were amazing, the other things were infrastructure issues common in Mexico but should be disclosed on listing.

Perfect Views

This is a must stay in this area. The views simply can’t be beat. The home has its own private beach with kayaks at the ready to head out on the water. The sunset and sunrise were magical. The house is well stock with everything you need. It is run by solar, and the energy was strong the entire time. This can be a romantic getaway or family gathering. Mike communicates great and the area was very secure. I will make a special trip to this area to stay at this home again

Heaven on Earth

Everything as described. We felt safe in the community and with letting the kids play in the water. No waves or undertow like in the ocean and sea. Tons of marine life and places to explore. Handful of restaurants within paddle distance or 1-5 minutes by car. The villa is top notch. Massive, clean, well kept. It runs entirely on solar, and there is a backup generator that easily turns on with a light switch. We only used the gen a couple of times before the sun came up after a cloudy day to make a pot of coffee, as we were all up well Before dawn daily. The sunrises shall not be slept through!!! This was the best vacation ever!!!

Amazing low key get-a-way!

My family and my inlaws spent 12 days in La Casa de los Suenos. It was amazing! It was the best stocked kitchen in a VRBO I've experienced and the views from the back deck are mind blowing, the pictures on the listing don't do it justice.

Dolphin Dreams on the Sea of Cortez

No traffic. No people (unless you want them). No covid-19! This was my first time in Mexico, and I was blown away from the minute I stepped off the plane by the beautiful & genuinely gracious people I met at every turn! From start to finish this was a magical vacation with friends. Mike (House owner or Manager, I’m not sure) was more than helpful with information in planning our trip to include connecting us with Alejandro (Alex) and a fishing trip we’ll never forget. The house is spacious, well appointed, and in the PERFECT location for either a romantic getaway, family, or friends. We will definitely be back and recommend you book your BCS getaway at Casa de los Suenos soon as possible.! You won’t regret it!!

The most perfect vacation spot we've found in years!

Spacious and clean, stunning location with total privacy on your own beach, and a sweet small "neighborhood" with friendly and engaging folks (seems to be mostly Americans who spend half the year there) about a 10 minute walk away. Not a hotel to be found here. Many balconies with seating to choose from to watch the sunrise, and great views from every bedroom. Mike was really helpful in answering all sorts of questions and providing activity suggestions in advance in response to my emails. We debated if the drive to the whale watching out of San Ignacio was worth it, and without a doubt it was - amazing to be in such a small boat with whales on both sides, peeking up to see you. It was unusually cool and windy when we were there so we did not get to enjoy the snorkeling and swimming, but this just gives us another reason to go back!

Beautiful house, exceptional location

We love the house and location. We had previously stayed in the casita and wanted to share this special place with our daughter and grandson. Although the house was really too big for us and price is high by Mexico standards, we decided to splurge. The private beach is so awesome with all of the kayaks and paddle boards. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in. The beds are comfy and the views are exceptional. We shared the house and kitchen with the owners and their friends and had some awesome fish dinners together. Mike arranged a day of fishing for us so we were eating fresh fish that our grandson caught. He couldn't have been happier. Stephanie and Mike were very nice to us and shared kitchen and food with us, so meals were easy. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars was that it was disconcerting and inconvenient that the house was not ready when we arrived at check in time. Mike required we rent the whole house, but then emailed us that they would be staying in the casita, then a few days later that they would be bringing some friends, could they use one of the bedrooms. We said OK. Then day we were traveling there, email that they were in the master bedroom and going whale watching, put our stuff downstairs and they would sort out rooms later. They arrived home at 6 pm and asked if we wanted them to move out of master suite. We said we could stay where we were if he discounted house, NO discount. But, they would move to a different bedroom, to the floor of the casita, or even off the property if we wanted them to. We were very uncomfortable and didn't want to kick them out of the house. So, said we would move to master suite and they could stay in other bedroom. They said ok, but were going out to dinner first, so we couldn't move into our bedroom until about 8 pm. Everything else was wonderful. I feel bad about leaving this review and almost didn't leave any review. But as I write this I guess I feel strongly that they did not handle this situation well and should consider doing something different in the future.

The jewel on the sea of Cortez

This was my second time staying in, "Casa De Los Suenos", and what a treat it was. Concepcion bay has definitely become a favorite place for me to spearfish and relax. The tranquil, clear, and warm waters that surround the house are full of snapper and grouper. Mike has been extremely helpful in pointing me in the right direction to find plenty of fish. You can easily paddle to the local islands and get into some decent reef fish. There are some great local restaurants that will cook up your fresh catch. The scenic views and remote beaches also are worth mentioning. It's definitely worth renting a boat (arranged thru Mike) and exploring a deserted beach with a corona, or two.. I can't thank Mike enough for introducing me to such an amazing place. Michael

Great retreat with lots of space and great kayakin

Great retreatif you want somewhere out of town. Very spacious, clean and well equipped. Mike was simple to deal with and Reuben was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We spent much of the time simply enjoying the private beach or kayaking North or South to the 2 neighbouring beaches. The kayaks are great, big selection and paddleboards. Our 10 year old found a kayak that suited her and was happy paddling herself. The bay itself provides a lot of shelter though the winds can come up a little in the afternoon. You do pretty much need a car and Meluge is a short drive to the North with supermarkets etc. Recommended if you want a quite private retreat, and would be great shared between 2 families - tons of space.

First trip to Baja

I had an amazing time and was fortunate enough to get to stay with Mike and his family. I would have never imagined how amazing and fun place it is to be! There are so many activities that are just a short walk down the steps, and then you are on the beach. Activities including snorkeling, paddle boarding, spearfishing, swimming and rock jumping! The weather was extremely hot while I was there but that just made me stay in the warm bay water even more. Don't forget to drink lots of water! Especially when you are out enjoying the water in the sun. There is also a natural hot spring right on the beach if ever you feel like you are cold in the water. The house is amazing and has a great common place for people to hang out and socialize. One of my favorite things to do while in Baja was get a beach chair and put it in the water at night and just sit there relaxing, looking at the stars. Given the world we live it in this is a great escape from the technology that controls our world. There is limited wifi at the house which in my opinion is awesome, it forced everyone who was there to take in our surroundings and enjoy every second spent at the house and in the surrounding community. I can't wait to go back again and recreate the amazing, adventurous and memorable experiences.

Magical Place!

This place is very special. We made the long drive from San Diego, which was actually pretty nice. Mike, the owner was helpful in telling us where to stop -which put m at ease as I was a little nervous. My husband has been going to Baja for years on dive trips, but I have never joined him. I finally got the chance this time, and I have to say that this house and the town of Mulege have won my heart. First of all, the pictures do not do this house justice - it is a gorgeous home in a gorgeous setting with plenty of room for large groups. The view will captivate and inspire you. The sunrise every morning is a real treat - don't miss it! I loved feeling like we were the only ones there, in a private oasis. To be able to get in the water any time, snorkel, kayak, paddle board....all there at the house was awesome as well. The snorkeling around the bay is like nothing I've ever seen, the water is so beautiful and clear!! I highly recommend going into the town of Mulege and visiting the local businesses. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming. As someone else mentioned, they are honest, good people....be respectful and friendly...and try to speak a little Spanish with them. I'm still learning, so I was nervous but everyone was so patient and even gave me some pointers :) I also recommend the experiences available such as Saul (owner of a local restaurant) to come cook for you at the house - he and his wife are so sweet and the food is off the charts amazing! Also Juan Carlos who runs a pontoon - takes you out to catch clams and seafood then cooks it for you on a private beach. I want to write a special note about the property manager, Ruben. He is a great guy and was so kind to us...he treated us like family. We cannot say enough about him, and his care for this property and the town of Mulege. We really enjoyed his company, and getting to know him. Mike is lucky to have him looking out for the house!! It was a joy and privilege to visit this beautiful part of Baja, and to stay at Casa de Los Sueños. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a special experience. We can't wait to return and bring friends to share the experience with!! K & K

AHHHH, Bahia!

This place is magical. We've always wanted to go to Baja, and we're so glad that we did it! My husband and I took the 21 hour drive with our pup Marcus from the San Francisco Bay area. When the owner Mike found out that we planned to drive, he was incredibly helpful at getting us there, from how to cross the border, to what to eat to where to stay that was dog friendly and fantastic. Reuben, who cares for the villa, was accommodating and overly gracious. He lent us his personal motor boat so that we could go out to the farthest of islands in the Bahia de Concepcion to see the nesting sites of the gentle Brown Pelican, which literally brought tears to my eyes and will continue to be one of the most special moments of my life. He also gave us the insight to go to an island with a beach all our own, to snorkel where we saw manta rays, colorful fish and enjoyed crystal clear waters. There are kayaks, paddle boards at the villa, and the ENTIRE BEACH in front of the villa is made from tiny sea shells! There is even a natural hot spring right there on the beach. Waking up to the sunrise over the puente Concepcion is an experience I indulged in every day. My husband and I are vegan, so we brought a lot of food because we did not know what we would find to eat. We were so excited to see that Mike has a great kitchen with gas stove and oven, and a ninja blender - with which I made some of the most amazing salsa with fresh produce from local merchants. No matter how you eat, I s highly suggest buying a giant papaya, some tiny bananas and fresh lime juice - blend that with coconut milk and ice for breakfast to start the day on a high note! In closing, I will admit that we were more than a little nervous to take the drive, but there was absolutely no need as Mike had assured us. We never once felt unsafe or unwelcome for that matter. The people of Baja welcome tourists, and are gracious beyond belief. They are hard working, honest, good people. Brush up on some basic Spanish, be respectful and friendly, and you will receive that back 10 fold. It was an honor to visit this lovely part of Mexico, and to stay at Casa Suenos!!! Thank you Mike. Thank you Reuben. We are eternally grateful for this beautiful experience and will recommend this to all of our family and friends!

8th Natural Wonders!!!

Amazing place. Truly breath taking. Here is why. The view is worth every penny, and almost not matter what you will have a spectacular sunrise every day there. Because of where the Villa sits in the protection of the bay, every night if there is wind, it will calm down so by the morning you will have a beautiful and glassy bay to greet you. There is soo much to do right at the villa itself. Kayaking to other boat or local beaches with restaurant. And maybe if you stayed there for long enough and want to do something different, you can go into town and experience the wonderful local culture and cuisine. Amazing time, can't wait to get back.

An outstanding Adventure!

We stayed here a week and couldn't get enough of it!! for us it was the perfect getaway!, and there wasn't a second out of the day where we both felt bored. My girlfriend and I would paddle board in the mornings, Kayak over to the massive Whale shark and snorkel with him for an hour or so everyday. After a great Lunch, we would explore the many islands surrounding our Beach front Villa, cliff jumping, world class spearfishing, finding scallops, and muscles. After are jam packed days full of exciting adventure it was perfect to sit in the natural hot springs below our deck and have a refreshing beverage! Well be Back for sure!!

Third year in a row at our favorite VRBO

This year we elected to have a private and relaxing stay in The Casita instead of our usual, frenetic, Friends-And-Family style of vacation. We really felt like we were "back home", especially when some of the neighbors and local restaurant owners recognized us and welcomed us back! We were relieved and happy to see that there was no visible hurricane damage to The Casita from Hurricane Odile, which had lambasted the area in September. While we were there, owners Mike and Stephanie, along with local workers, were busily repairing some minor hurricane damage to the main house, as well as doing general upkeep and improvements. From what I could see, Casa de Los Suenos is looking better than ever, and it's obvious that the owners care about maintaining and improving their beautiful property. We enjoyed tranquil snorkeling every day, fires on the beach at night, and soothing soaks in the natural hot springs on the beach. But my favorite activity was just sitting on the porch of The Casita, reading, and enjoying the world-class view. The sunrises from The Casita are sublime and are worth an early rising.

Fantastic vacation

The house was great and facilitated a wonderful vacation for us. What an absolutely beautiful location and set up. Everything we needed was there. We spent lots of time on the water with your kayaks and paddle boards and enjoyed time hanging out on the beach and deck enjoying the scenery and the birds. All the folks involved with managing the house were so very helpful in making our stay enjoyable. We enjoyed very much visiting with them. Really, our trip to your house could not have been better, thanks so much for making it available. I look forward to an opportunity to return.

We have been traveling to Mexico for many years, and just by chance ended up staying on one of the beautiful beaches along Concepcion Bay. We fell in love with the people, beaches, fishing, kayaking, and exploring. We had been searching for the perfect 'dream home', and in June of 2010, we not only found it, we but bought it!

It has been a bed and breakfast for the last 10 years. We will be renting it out, so that we can share the wonders of Baja with you! We have made many improvements and added many toys to complete your dream vacation. Our dream home, or Casa de los Sueños as we like to call it, translated in English is our 'house of Dreams!' Truly, a place for families to feel secure while making countless memories!

Why they chose this property

Beautiful views, beautiful beaches, and beautiful people!
Way too many activities to even list.
