Work group staying in the house working in town

Stayed in the house a few weeks. Worked great for us. The views are amazing. We played a lot of chess with the large table chess board. Would definitely stay here again.

A bit deceiving….

This place is split into two areas. One is the entire upper/main floor and half of the bottom (which is 80% of the pictures) and the other part ka half of the bottom floor. The two areas are separated by a crude wooden door in the middle of the hallway that you can see through. The ad appears to be for one place but it is actually two so the owner gets two rentals at the same time. My group was just two people which meant we got the small bottom area and then other parties got the entire rest of the house. If you get the bottom area while someone is in the upper area I would suggest bringing earplugs unless you like falling asleep to what sounds like a herd of elephants above you. It’s an old house so it makes sense but still. Also, none of the bedrooms in the lower smaller area have smoke detectors. Suffice to say, it was a decent enough place to stay but seeing as we were there for a month I wouldn’t stay there again. For a few nights it would be fine.

Lovely house in Cordova

We arrived and the house hadn’t been cleaned, however the owner did let us know right before. It was pretty bad, so I suspect hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly for awhile. So we did the cleaning. The owner was very responsive though and explained how hard it is to find someone to clean reliably in Cordova and he refunded the cleaning fee and a days stay which was a big reduction in cost. We also thought we had the whole house but didn’t have two of the bedrooms since part is another apartment which was rented out to another party. Apparently this listing doesn’t include added costs / person also, so the cost was a lot more than we expected originally. Despite all that, it is a lovely house with lots of room in a great location right above Main Street and the harbor and had lovely views. Most beds were soft, so if you have a bad back you may not be comfortable. A little more transparency on costs and finding a good house cleaner would make this a great find in Cordova.

Horrific Experience

Advised owners months in advance that we needed entire house for convention attendees and would give final numbers (it didn't say in the ad but they are charging $100/night per person) before we arrived. Which we did. What they failed to tell us was that they rented a portion of the house to another completely unrelated party. No warning. A very uncomfortable discovery. There no lock on the door separating the parties and the faulty knob kept popping open. No locks on any of the bedroom doors- so there was no way to secure ourselves or our property from these strangers - who were breaking house rules by smoking. Owner advised they couldn't regulate the behavior of the other guests, and told us it was a problem we created by not giving the number in our party, and that they treated house like a lodge. I guess they just assumed that our non-couple, non-related attendees were going to share a double bed and a trundle (no Murphy) in one bedroom upstairs or the two twins in the other room on that floor, making potentially six people going down 15 stairs to the shared bath on another floor; or four people sharing one bathroom downstairs. We never saw the four-bathroom/five-bedrooms, but noticed leaking kitchen sink. Also failed to mention it is a three-story house with 30 stairs and not handicap friendly. We ended up taking seven senior citizens to an actual lodge - which just charged us by the room and offered an ensuite bathroom with each room.
