My family and I stayed at Brian’s cabin for a weekend trip to attend a wedding at Castle Ladyhawke. The cabin is extremely close to the front gate, making access to the “outside world” much easier than for friends who stayed a few miles deeper into the resort! The location was great, and all of the amenities listed were provided. There were a couple of small imperfections, but that’s to be expected and did not detract from our visit. The only oddity was the check-in process, which involved several minutes in the greeters cottage and a preservation fee I had read elsewhere could be assessed. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves and would stay here again. Bear Lake Reserve is beautiful and a short drive from multiple small towns for touristing, as well as only 10 minutes from the wedding venue.
We really enjoyed our time at bear lake reserve. We took advantage of the spotty wi-fi and unplugged- we didn’t mind. This was much needed! Lots of amenities to use and the house was great for relaxing. We loved using the screened in porch.
I would recommend bringing basic cleaning supplies if you plan on cooking as we were unable to find any provided in the home.
You will check in at the greeters cottage- they are super helpful! We will be back!
The property was perfect for our family (2 adults, 3 children 8-and-under). The kids enjoyed all of the amenities--the pool, lake, hikes, golf, kids' camp, etc. The screened-in porch with sounds of the creek was magical. Brian and Jan were amazing hosts and promptly replied to all of our questions. Highly recommend! And will definitely be back!
Gorgeous house at the entrance of Bear Lake Reserve. Our family loved sitting on the screened in porch with fire place for all of our meals and game nights. House was very pretty, had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. Communication with the owners was excellent and our family loved our time here. We will be back! Thank you Brian & Jan!
Vacations always go fast and even faster when you lose your sense of time with this beautiful spot at Bear Lake Reserve. Owners and all the folks encountered were delightful and helpful in making the experience most enjoyable and memorable!
This property is beautiful, well stocked and close to WCU. We were there to visit our daughter who is a senior at the university and it was a nice getaway for her as well. Close but feels like miles away! The best combination.
We had a wonderful trip to this property for the New Year. The home is just as it looks in the pictures and was clean and organized. Brian was responsive and very easy to communicate with. The views in the community are amazing, but we do recommend 4-wheel drive because there are definitely some windy roads with lots of elevation changes. Highly recommend!
Wonderful place to stay within 20min from Western Carolina Univ. Comfortable and Cozy.
Owners are super nice and friendly and answered all our questions promptly. We will definitely be back!!
This property was perfect for what we were looking for in a weekend adventure to the NC mountains. The property owner, Brain, was very helpful in quickly responding to questions we had prior to the trip as well as being very informative of the area in suggesting local restaurants and points of interest. The cabin was well equipped and cozy with a good size, open "sitting" area in the den. There is a back patio area that was nice if one enjoys sitting outside and hearing the sounds of the creek below and nature. We loved everything about staying here. The floorplan was that of a spilt design where the master bedroom was on one side, and the two other bedrooms were on the opposite side of the cabin. The overall location was ideal as it was a short drive to many local towns such as Cashiers, Dillsboro, Glennville, Cullowhee, Sylva, and Highlands (just a little bit more of a drive, but not too much). This property was located in the Bear Lake Reserve community. There were hiking trails, a restaurant, club pool, tennis, pickleball, and golf available on the reserve community premises. We loved everything about staying here. We will be back!
We loved our weekend in this mountain home. The location was just beautiful and tucked into a quiet neighborhood and surrounded by trees. The home itself was clean and very well equipped for us and our two little dogs. The screened in porch was our favorite spot from morning coffee to an evening rock by the fireplace. I hope we can come again!
This property is absolutely amazing. It’s perfectly located 15 mins from the highway & 15 mins to the clubhouse. We greatly enjoyed the screened-in porch where we spent time listening to the relaxing mountain sounds and rainfall. We can’t wait to return next year! Thank you for sharing your happy place with us!
Cabin had ample room for our family of five. The house is just inside the welcome gate which was a major convenience for us. Beautiful property, the view driving around are incredible!
This cabin was everything as described, and the owners were great communicators. My husband and I loved sitting on the screened porch with the fireplace on, reading our books at night and in the early morning. The cottage is close to the entrance so while it’s not always the quietest location, it’s very convenient to get in/out of the resort.
BLR is an unforgettable experience and we loved our stay here. It’s not a cheap vacation but a worthwhile experience. We can’t wait to come back.
