Beautiful Little Mountain Home

The “Little Mountain Home” sign on the front entrance to this enchanting place hits the mark! Very well maintained, has all the amenities inside we needed for our week stay, including a comfortable patio deck on top with a small porch heater with blue tooth speaker. Also a fire pit on bottom ground that we enjoyed with the cooler weather. Host is very communicative and any question or concern I had was addressed and taken care of.

Great, Cozy Cabin.

This cabin was perfect for our stay. Location is close to Banner Elk, Sugar & Beech Mountains, Blowing Rock and Boone. Cabin was clean, the kitchen is ample and had all of the amenities we needed and then some! The coded door entry made it easy to check in and get in & out of the cabin when needed. The Floor heater + the gas fireplace kept the cabin warm and cozy. There are additional space heaters available if needed during the super cold winter month's. Overall, I highly recommend the stay here. I would definitely revisit.

Owner Ghosted Me

This is a summary of my last night. Owner never replied. "Hello Carolyne, I am guessing that you are back from Japan and reacclimated to home. I hope that Ian sent along an overview of the evening of July 17th at the rental in Newland. As it played out, a harsh lightening storm knocked out power to the house around 5:30pm. I contacted Ian for help. He directed me to several places to look for the breaker box in case a breaker was flipped as no one on his team was available in the area. No luck in finding the box. So I spend the evening in the dark during an on/off storm (except for sitting in my car to charge the phone) with no way to prepare the food that I had purchased for dinner. I slept fitfully in a room with no air flow and packed to leave early the next morning, again in the dark. I had to throw away my food as the frig was already warm and also clean up the water on the floor from the melting ice in the frig's freezer. I realize that no one has control over such things, but I did spend a bit of money for a less than pleasant last night in the mountains. Thanks...Jennie"

About the host

Hosted by Carolyne Andersen

Host profile image
My name is Carolyne and I am your host. My family and I plus our Maltipoo named Wolf decided to make the exciting move from the Bay Area in California to Apex, North Carolina to enjoy a slower pace of life. A slower pace allows my husband and I the ability to focus on raising our children and watch them grow. North Carolina has been good to us and life has never been this great!

The first time we visited this area, we fell in love with the breathtaking outdoors and serene landscapes that this region has to offer. We found solace in hiking through scenic trails and breathing in the fresh mountain air. There is always something to pique our interests no matter what season. We kept on coming back and always had great experiences and memories to cherish. We loved it so much that we decided to get a little home away from home to escape to whenever we want.

My job as a Data Scientist and my husband's job as a Project Leader as well as the busy schedule of our children do not allow us to escape whenever we want. We cannot use our home all year round so we would like to share it with others who enjoy the activities we love when we are in the mountains.

Why they chose this property

We chose Lindville Land Harbor to call our second home because of its scenic location. It is nestled in the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains offering breathtaking views and still keeps a serene natural setting. It is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts like us. You can hike, bike, fish, boat, golf, swim, play tennis, play pickle ball and more without driving too far. Almost everything is at your door step! It's proximity to popular attractions and destinations is a plus. Attractions like Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock and other natural wonders is just a short drive away. There are also wineries and breweries you can visit nearby. Lindville Land Harbor embraces a relaxed lifestyle in a beautiful natural setting, indulges us with all the outdoor activities and amenities we enjoy and is close to all the destinations we love visiting any time of the year. We love it here!

What makes this property unique

Little Mountain Home (LMH) is nestled in the rhododendrons on a quiet street. Even though we have neighbors on both sides, it still feels secluded. It's like you are in your very own piece of mountain heaven.
