From the moment we pulled up the drive, we were enchanted: the prairie rolls away, inviting an exploration of flowers and fields, while the cozy patio, outfitted with Adirondack chairs, welcomes reading, relaxing, chats with friends. The home is quite spacious - we were 2 families, each a couple with one 3 year old (ish) kid, and it was definitely plenty of room for us. The kitchen is huge, and we were happy to make use of it and the outdoor grill: dinner of steaks with farm fresh salads, eggs and bacon for breakfast, even a fresh apple pie.......
Wandering the fields we discovered grapevines laden with ripe concord grapes and plenty of flowering herbs, trees and grasses. A hawk circled overhead, and at sunset, 2 herons flew above, garbling together. The pond, just a short walk away, has frogs, and we found evidence of snakes too. One morning we woke to a fog blanketing the hills, the leaves just beginning to turn a rainbow of fall colors.
The home is well located, easy to get to and accessible to lots of amenities. There are plenty of great grocery stores nearby, including one in Ripon that has a super range of produce, specialty foods, beer and wine. We didn't explore the town of Green Lake at all, but did jaunt in to Oshkosh for some great museums, and Ripon for a vintage car show (and local brewery). We packed a LOT in to our short stay and hope to come back again!
