This adorable cottage right on the 200 acre Clifford Lake is the perfect place to relax and unwind. It has everything you could want from a Michigan lake house. Wake up each morning and enjoy your coffee on the deck as you watch the sun rise. Or tuck into your chair around the bonfire as you make s’more after s’more—it is a vacation after all.
The deck is covered so you can enjoy some shade on the hotter days when you do not want to be in direct sunlight. Feel free to bring your boat and secure it to the dock for easy access. Or just enjoy swimming or floating off the dock. There is a swimming area immediatly in front of the house.
If you get hungry, walk down to the Historic Clifford Lake Inn and Restaurant where you can enjoy your meal on the large deck that overlooks Clifford Lake. A few miles away in Langston is the Country Cone if you are looking for great ice cream with a small town feel.
If you like to be active, the two mile loop of road that the house is on can be used for walking, biking and jogging. If you are looking for a longer bike ride, head five miles east into Stanton and park at the trailhead in town. The Fred Meijer Heartland trail stretches on for miles. There are three golf courses within a 15 minute drive (Glenkerry, Brookside, the Links at Bowen Lake).
Stanton (5miles) or Greenville (8miles) are the places to pick up any forgotten grocery items that you may need. Greenville has Meijer, Walmart, and ALDI's.
Some other helpful items about the house: -If you are feeling adventurous, there is a stand up paddle board you can use -The red adirondack chairs are kept in the shed along with firewood -There is enough space in the driveway to park three cars. -The house sleeps 8 people if there are two to a bed. Two bedrooms have queen beds, the loft has two full size beds. -The dining room table has a built in leaf so it can expand to fit your party of 8. There are extra chairs in the closet under the stairs. -There is a large crock pot if you want to plan meals -There is an electric griddle with plenty of room for pancakes and bacon -All the pots/pans/cooking utensils you should need are in the house.

We LOVE this cottage and plan to return.(This was our 3rd stay!) Madison is great to work with, cottage is meticulously clean, lake is great for swimming/boating/fishing, and the view is exceptional! Perfect vacation for our group!
This property was a nice and quiet getaway for my family. The shallow waterfront was perfect for the kids and the house was equipped with everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.
The cottage is on a good spot on the lake, with the covered porch being the best feature. You will sit for hours watching the activity on the lake. There is no boat, so bring your own if you want to get out on the water. Well equipped and decorated cottage, with comfortable beds.
Very cute & clean cottage. Lots of room for family activity and beds slept well. I would recommend more wash cloths. No washer/dryer but town is close to laundramats. All in all wonderful time. Looking forward to returning next year. Super great neighbors!!!
Very cute, very clean lake house! We enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch reading and listening to music. Enjoyed fishing off the dock and riding our bikes around the neighborhood. House is within walking distance of a great restaurant on the lake- The Clifford Lake Inn. We would highly recommend Driftwood Cottage!
The cottage is beautifully situated on Clifford Lake and is very nicely furnished. Communication with the landlord was quick and helpful.
My only complaint is the lack of a washer and dryer. This is the first VRBO we have used that did not offer one. Luckily our son and his family were staying in a VRBO nearby and we were able to use their machines.
We really enjoyed our short stay at this cozy, super-cute cottage on Clifford Lake! It is conveniently located a few doors down from the best food in the area @ CLI. The porch and rocking chairs looking out at the lake are the perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee or a family gathering. We found everything we needed and the place is immaculately clean. I hope we can come back for a longer stay and really relax!
Our family was looking for a short end of summer getaway…it was perfect. The host was very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. The house itself was well maintained and tastefully decorated. I can’t overstate how clean and well organized it was (which we very much appreciated). The lake is larger than I had anticipated which provided hours of daily outdoor activities (fishing, swimming, and kayaking). It was a nice getaway (that wasn’t that far away). 10/10 would stay again.
Location on the lake is ideal! Beautiful views. Property was super clean, had everything needed for a relaxing vacation on the lake, neighbors were friendly, easy check in/out, great location. Owner is great to work with. We will highly recommend this property, and plan to return for a longer stay in the future! One of our favorite places!
This is the perfect place to getaway. the home is just as it seems and sits right on the water. The food at the Clifford Lake inn which is a 5 min walk away is excellent. Everything you need to cook your own food is on site as well. Highly recommend.
We had a lovely stay, very clean, comfortable house. Just watch your head in the loft, the ceiling is quite low on either side! The covered porch was nice, we were able to sit out even when it rained. They had kayaks available which was a wonderful way to enjoy the lake. There is a sandbar across the lake, otherwise not very swimmable if you’re not used to so much seaweed. The fire pit was prepped for our first night and there were marshmallow roasting sticks in the shed- pleasant surprise! We enjoyed the restaurant right down the street. Overall we enjoyed our time together!
