Blufftop Charmer above Downtown Dubuque. 3 bedrooms. Walkable to Downtown.
Newly remodeled in 2023 to be your happy-getaway. Expect to find some some old character and quirks as well as many new things and comfort in this home that was built in the late 1800’s. It’s been updated with groups of friends and families in mind. The entry room has a place to drop your shoes and keys plus a nice big desk to serve as an office. Also on the first floor is an updated full kitchen, dining room, living room, and half bath. Take the peculiarly small staircase of old English cottage style to the second floor and you’ll find the 3 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and a spacious full bathroom. Views from some of the upper floor windows have a partial overlook over downtown Dubuque with a spotting of the Mississippi River. The large enclosed porch is a great place to hang out during three seasons. It has a wonderful view stretching across the river-valley-bluffs and takes in sunshine all day long. There is a small front yard and a small back yard. The back yard is great for playing a game of bean bag toss.
Your dog is welcome if they are well behaved and potty trained. An additional $36 cleaning fee comes along with bringing your pup. There is free parking out front on the quiet street. The basement is unfinished, you are welcome to use the washer and dryer down there if you’d like.

Our trip to Dubuque was very nice. The house was very nicely remodeled and well decorated. The house was very clean and neat. The location was absolutely perfect. The neighborhood felt safe with very friendly neighbors throughout the neighborhood. The house is located very close to downtown with nice places to eat. It was important for us to find a place that allowed us to bring our two small dogs. We would highly recommend this house and we appreciate the great attention to detail Meg had to make our stay very pleasant. Thank you Meg for allowing us to make great family memories at your place.
Overall a convenient location and a very cute, clean cottage. Meg was excellent in communicating with us and providing proactive information. We enjoyed sitting in the outside porch on a sunny day and using the laundry. One thing ( which was my fault) was that I did not realize the steps would be as steep and had a senior citizen with me who found it a bit difficult to go up and down. However, everything else was perfect.
Well maintained property in a great neighborhood. The owner was very responsive and ensured that we had a comfortable stay. Highly recommended for your next trip to Dubuque.
Brought my pup back home to DBQ for a full week at Christmas and choosing this blufftop charmer was the star on top of the tree! We were so cozy and this house was the perfect home base. Super cute and clean. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely rebook next time we need a pup-friendly place to stay.
Enjoyed a weekend halfway between parents and kids. The house was nicely located; close to downtown, with gorgeous views! (Albeit somewhat obstructed) Meg was wonderful to work with, and very timely in responding to questions we had! Thanks for your kind hospitality, Meg!
Our host was so easy to work with, she had the place spotless and all set up for our stay. She was very responsive to my questions and replied almost immediately. The house had everything we needed and we used the sun room/porch every morning and afternoon. Best of all the property was pet friendly so we were able to bring out dogs, who were competing at an event in town. I highly recommend this property, especially if you travel with your pet.
Three sisters (siblings) chose to stay here during our three-day visit with the Sisters (BVM’s) at Mt. Carmel who taught us in high school in St. Louis in the 1970’s. This house was perfect. Clean and airy, lots of room to spread out and relax at the end of our visits each day. Highly recommend this happyvVRBO.
This home was beautiful and perfect for my family! We were in town to run the Alzheimer’s 5K in memory of my mother who passed away last December. The home was perfect for reflection on the sun porch. All the necessities were available and the home was spotless! Very close to downtown and Galena. The beds were comfortable and the letter Meg wrote to welcome us so special!
We stayed here for a few days while exploring the upper Mississippi River Valley. It’s the perfect launch pad for short day trips. The house is on a quiet street within walking distance cf several restaurants and museums. It’s super clean with all the right amenities. We appreciated the extra touches from Meg, like the bananas and chocolate bar in the kitchen to the fans in the bedrooms. I’m pretty picky about accommodations, and I’d highly recommend Meg’s place. Lovely!
Really cool neighborhood on the bluffs. We really enjoyed strolling the neighborhood. Plus the house is just minutes from restaurants and shopping and other activities.
Super clean. Living room was perfect for watching Olympic highlights. Everyone slept great. Easy check out process. Host provided just the right information.
Would stay again!
A short girls trip to Dubuque. The place was wonderful and communication was right on point. We loved sitting in the screened in porch enjoying cocktails. The house was lovely and we especially liked all the plants and fresh flowers.
Our group loved staying at this place! The house was charming and had everything we needed. The back porch and deck were my favorite places to sit and relax. Everything was comfortable and clean. Meg was a great host! She responded quickly and had great suggestions! Parking was plentiful on the street and it was easy to get anywhere we wanted by walking or a quick car ride.
Really great place in Dubuque to stay at. Hilltop view overlooking historic Dubuque. Place was very clean. Older home so stairs to bedrooms are narrow - bring small suitcases. Nice location to walk around the neighborhood and close to many great restaurants and wineries (excellent ones a 15-20 min drive). The river walk is also beautiful. Meg was a terrific host, made the check in/out process easy and offered great suggestions for the area as well.
