Nice cottage - great location!

This is an older home that has been nicely redone. The bathrooms are a little quirky, but bedrooms were all a very good size. This house is clean and comfortable! I read someone's review that road noise was loud and there was smell of ammonia when you walk in. We didn't encounter either! It is a busy road, but by nighttime, the traffic is a non-issue. My friend and I were in town for a dog agility trial and this house was the perfect location to the Fairgrounds. Also very close to lots of restaurants and shopping. The host was extremely easy to communicate with and helpful! I appreciated the host answering all my questions and being so gracious. The only thing that would make this place better would be a fully fenced back yard when traveling with dogs. Regardless, we will definitely stay here again next year when we come back to compete at next year's agility trial! I highly recommend the Blue Bird Cottage!

Very small

The furniture in living room was small (studio size sofa) and uncomfortable.I would say you could fit 3 people in the seating area. There was not enough seating in kitchen or living room. The laundry was located in cellar and was a narrow stairway with no railings, did not use cause being elderly would be afraid of falling downstairs. The house is old and drafty. The beds are low and have a hard memory foam mattress. The bathroom on main floor is very small, and if you are of large stature, hard to fit. The shower lining was filthy and tub was stained. The upstairs also had no railing, so found it dangerous to climb.I could not throw trash in bins, because were filled up with trash, wood planks and debris. The other bins had beer cans and cardboard in them. I could not move them to street because to heavy. The driveway is narrow and you have to back up in the street to get out. The street was always busy and you had to pray no one would hit you.The porch out back is a mess and rundown, no screen, or chairs etc to use. Overall, I do not think I would stay again for the money, when you add all the fees etc was not worth the price. The hotel would have been better and cheaper. I could not utilize kitchen to cook, not enough room or counters to prepare the food.

Cute, but loud and smells

This house is adorable, looks clean and appears freshly renovated and if it were a block off its current location (on one of the busiest east-west streets in town) it would be much better. Due to the age of the house, you hear the traffic sounds constantly, the music of every car, etc.Thankfully, school is not in session or there would have been the high school traffic that is two blocks away as well as the JUCO traffic that is about 4 blocks away. I would not have booked this if I could have seen the address of the house before booking. I booked this because my motorhome was in the shop and I needed a pet friendly location and this was the only one available at the last minute. When I opened the door, the ammonia/urine smell hit me straight away. Every time I breathed through my nose for the first two days, it hit me again. After 48 hours of the air conditioner running non stop, it finally started to subside a little. I think the lower humidity in the house helped, but it was still present. They obviously know it smells as they have air purifiers running in every room as well as a wall plug in and the jars that are supposed to absorb odors. It appears that the carpet has been replaced fairly recently, but I'm not sure if they didn't replace the pad or if they didn't seal the subfloor. Pet urine is definitely a smell that requires more than just replacing the flooring. For a pet friendly house, I was shocked to see carpet in almost every room in the house.
