This was our first time staying in a property like this. We loved it. The location was a perfect location to my conference at Mccormick and a perfect spot for my families adventures. Chicago offers so much.
Three major concerns:
1. Communication- because of a lack of communication we were not able to check in until 30 min after check in time. We had to reach out to VRBO to gain access.
2. Parking- we paid for parking only to be towed and then told oops we made a mistake. Had to pay over $40 to Uber to the tow location to retrieve our illegally towed car.
3. There was a shoot out in the front of the building and the front window of the residence had a bullet pass through and end up on the floor of the rental. We left at 12:00 am to escape the violence and stayed in a hotel to ensure our safety.
While the three things above were all big in their own individual ways when you combine all three it is impossible to recommend this rental or VRBO as a company to anyone. In all of this the host who was informed failed to even reach out.
This location was very nice with a great option to purchase 1 parking spot right behind the building for below rate for a garage. The apartment was very nice and even cuter than the photos show. My only complaint is that I asked multiple times for a late checkout requested 11:45- checkout is early at 10. I never got a clear answer - just sent the same policy info which said unless you had an agreed upon late checkout you would be charged if the cleaner arrived at 10 and you were still there. I was not even sure if a real person sent it or somehow it was autogenerated. Only when I reached out and mentioned a couple minor issues - a lightbulb needed changed and a closet door was off the track that I got an actual response that said we could stay until 11:45. It was too late and we were already gone. Overall though a nice property in a good location that was very easy with our dog.
This was in a historic building, with secure festures (several locked entrances). It was clearly a renovated factory, with pipes in the ceiling and exposed brick. This added to the charm.
We were visting downtown, this rental was a few miles, so we rented bikes and or walked to get places.
They included small details, shampoo, hair dryer, even toothbrushes!
We enjoyed our stay.
This property is an apartment building very close to the convention center, major hotels, and nice restaurants. Some 420 going on in the building, which was bothersome. Wall was somewhat thin, so you can hear next door conversations. Definitely a loft. Walls don't go up to the ceiling between kitchen and master, so you'll hear "things" both ways. There also is a strange machinery sound in the room most of the time--not sure what that was. Bring shampoo. The vertical blinds between the loft and the street are missing a few, so there is visibility from the street into the apartment. They should replace these with light blocking drapes. Otherwise, good value for the money, and the proximity to the convention center and arena are excellent.
Walking distance to convention center. We had a good stay and would definitely recommend for the price. Thank you for allowing early check in and a bit delayed check out! Very well stocked unit. The only item that wasn’t in the unit was shampoo/conditioner but there was a market walking distance around the back of the building. Ground floor unit, easy access and the street wasn’t too noisy either. The master bed was a loft space so the walls didn’t go all the way up to the ceiling. Personally I would have switched the master and guest bedrooms. Overall great place in convenient location in Chicago. Nice kitchen, worth booking. Thanks for having us!

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Nice place, but one bedroom shares open ceiling with common areas
The unit was clean and modern, though the room adjacent the kitchen has an open ceiling, so there is no sound privacy.
Service was middle of the road. Check in instructions were delayed, and one of the wireless access fobs didn't work. Bathroom low on soap and shampoo. Property manager slow (24+ hrs) to respond.
Floor lamps very bright and sterile, unpleasant to use.
Beds clean and comfortable, and kitchen was fine for making coffee.
