Nice remote location. You’ll likely want to pack food in with you. It’s 6 mile drive on a dirt road taking about 45 minutes to get into the local town. Lots of local hiking trails. Property is fairly well kept up especially for an of the grid location. In the cold months make sure you have firewood. A wood fired fireplace seems to be the main source of heat. Lots of wildlife passing through the property as well.
I was looking to get away from the crowds and hike some backcountry National Forest with my dogs. The Angel Valley Ranch was absolutely perfect for my needs. The canyon is more beautiful than words can describe. Numerous deer came right up to the property each morning and late afternoon. It’s true you’ll need to drive down a dirt road for a half hour, but it’s a small price to pay for solitude, just the sounds of nature and absolute stunning red cliff backdrop. Plan ahead and bring all the food and items you desire. The solar, water heater, WiFi, and country decor were sufficient. I spent most the time outside, it was so wonderful to relax and recharge. Truly the ranch is a slice of Heaven.
The location was so peaceful and quiet and surrounded by such beautiful trees. Due to the lack of screens on the windows the bugs were everywhere and that made it feel a lot like camping in a tent. I was told that screens would be put on the windows so that has probably changed. The owner of the property was on site and was very interesting to visit with. The cabin is decorated well and it is a wonderful place to spend a few days.
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. The owners are so kind, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. You can tell they really care that you are having a nice time. The check-in and check-out lists were clear and helpful. The property is just stunning. There are deer and cattle on the property and there is a little pond in eyesight. The cabin was clean, and felt very homie. The beds were really comfy.
The road coming in is not paved, and if you are using your WiFi for directions, you may want to take a picture of the map in case your signal comes and goes like mine. My RAV4 made the trip just fine, and the house does have internet.
The location was centered almost equal distance from Bryce Canyon and Zion, which was perfect because we got to see them both on our trip. Navajo Lake is right around the corner, so there is a lot to do.
Overall, we really enjoyed our break from the Vegas heat and hope to be back soon.
The property was basically as described with some embellishment. Nice log cabin with comfy beds and living room. Lacked coffee and bath essentials so bring your own. Quiet with deer and a herd of cattle outside your door, so keep your dogs leashed. Several rental cabins are pretty close by and a yurt. What must be noted is the 6.5 mile gravel mountain road into the property, with another 11 miles on paved road takes a good 45 minutes to Duck Creek Village center.
My wife and I were looking for a quick get away from the Las Vegas heat and most of the Duck Creek cabins had been previously booked or didn't accept pets. We found this cabin that looked to be a hidden gem close to Navajo lake but it didn't have any reviews. We took a chance as we've worked with McKay on other properties and have always had a great experience. My wife, 7 year old son, and dog had the most fantastic time exploring the land around us! More deer than you can imagine, a beautiful meadow, beautiful views of the cliffs behind Navajo, and a wonderful little pond directly in sight from the front porch! The cabin had wonderful little touches and detail that we spent hours looking over. The ranch owners were absolutely fabulous and accommodating (they were on the ranch for a couple nights we stayed). They shared wonderful stories about the ranch and wanted to make sure we had a fabulous experience! Oh yeah, they also had plenty of firewood for us to use in the wood stove and fire pit! I would recommend this property to any family with 4-6 people. It is wonderful for dogs to run and explore, for kids to run amuck, and for adults to soak in the beautiful nature surrounding the cabin! My only recommendation would be to add more pictures of the outside of the cabin (pond, meadow, deer, etc) as we were a little apprehensive with just the one picture posted online of the front of the house. We will be back!
