About this property
Cozy, light filled duplex townhome in vibrant Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with garden!
Our house is located directly across from the beautiful St Cyril's Church, in the middle of a cozy block of townhomes on Eagle Street in Greenpoint, the North Brooklyn enclave of family friendly creative living with it's many unique cafes and restaurants, boutiques, shops and parks. Our 1897-built wood-frame home retains many charming architectural details, aged wood floors, well proportioned rooms and abundant natural light from our upstairs skylights, side alley and backyard garden.
Summer amenities include 3-zone central air conditioning control keeping the upstairs comfortable and cool during the hot summer months and additional air conditioning on the first floor garden level. Equally wonderful is exclusive use of the shady backyard garden, with patio, lawn, shade umbrella, and picnic tables.
The duplex is the joined upper two floors of our two-family home. The first floor is the Garden level, entered through our bright red front door and hallway, leading to the living room with 2 comfy sofas (both of which sleep one adult), kitchen, dining room, and downstairs bathroom with clawfoot bathtub/shower. The backyard garden is exclusively for your use and accessed through lovely french doors and a deck stepping down
to the garden and patio.
The upper floor has the master bedroom, sleeping two, in a queen sized bed facing the beautiful and historic facade of Saint Cyril's church right across the street. On Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings choir music can be faintly heard, as well as the occasional wedding and confirmation ceremonies that take place there.
The central space upstairs is a studio and music room with a colorful guitar collection and huge
fixed skylight which drenches the upper level with sunlight. Adjacent to this room is the rear studio with full size sofabed (sleeping two) overlooking the rear garden, a quiet and serene space. Also facing the rear garden is the master bathroom with a large walk-in shower and hand-cranked skylight.
Within just a few blocks you’ll find at least 10 locally-owned cafes and coffeehouses,
such as Bakeri, Odd Fox, Sweatleaf, Eagle Trading Company, and Cafe Alula to name a few. And a wealth of acclaimed cutting edge eateries, like Wen Wen, Glasserie, Oxomoco, Esme, Madre, Naked Dog, Milk and Roses, and many others. Unique bars and music venues also abound, including Troost, Pencil Factory, Brouwerij Lane, Saint Vitus, The Brew Inn, and Greenpoint Beer and Ale Co, just to name a few. All within a few minutes’ stroll.
Greenpoint is also rich in lovely waterfront parks and the East River Ferry to Manhattan with multiple stops in Brooklyn and Governor’s Island (a fun and affordable summertime tour of the City!) Two blocks away are the extensive waterfront parks of Newtown Barge Park/Greenpoint Playground and Blue Slip, with commanding views of midtown Manhattan, and a few blocks further South is the popular Transmitter Park, a real summertime hot spot. Continuing South towards WIlliamsburg brings one to Bushwick Inlet Park and Marsha P. Johnson State Park, teeming with summertime food tasting events, free outdoor concerts and movies, and sports and recreation space.
Visit trendy Williamsburg, the next neighborhood to the South, bordered by the ever-popular McCarren Park. Art lovers must see The Faurschou New York Museum three blocks
from our house on Green Street, and PS 1Art Museum in Long Island City, the next neighborhood to the North. To explore Manhattan, Grand Central Station Manhattan is about 18 minutes away, by crossing the Pulaski Bridge and catching the 7 express train one stop to Grand Central.
Our home is very much a reflection of the neighborhood itself. Worn-in but clean, eclectic, comfortable, tasteful, and right in the middle of everything NYC and Brooklyn has to offer. No pets please. There is a washer in the upstairs master bath available for use, and backyard clothesline for drying. The downstairs front bedroom is a teenager’s room and will be locked/unavailable for use. Rental is available from July 12 2023 to August 12 2023 (NYC has implemented a 30-day minimum on short-term furnished rentals.)
